My next sageuk rewatch after TPM is probably going to be The Legend - another drama in the running for my favorite sageuk of all time.
Despite the shippy vid (and I do adore DD and Sujini - the intellectual underdog prince and his best bro the alcoholic archer), this drama is not romance-centric. It’s a glorious fantasy epic centering on a fight for throne but also prophecies, battles and supernatural forces meddling in the fate of mankind.
It’s smart, impeccably acted, gorgeous and just a perfection. DD’s quiet, soft-spoken royal (who may or may not be the prophesied savior) hits my competency kink dead center. It has a ton of amazing characters (including some complex ladies), tragic villains and just so much amazingness.
It was a huge hit when it came out but it was in 2007 so I bet most people around haven’t watched it. You should totally join me.
PS the first ep which is very fantasy prologue of 1000 years ago is cheesy as hell but the rest of it is not, promise.
PPS this was the last drama Bae Yong Joon ever made before he retired on his piles of money but what a way to go out. If you weren’t around for the mania btw, this man was HUGE! He was basically huger than all the Hallyu stars now put together and probably single-handedly kept the lights on for the companies for quite a few years. Wish he’d come back but he never will.

'Officer Nam died because he was a good cop. am i wrong? you see it, don't you? that's why i've made up my mind. i'm going to kill them all.' 'they will kill you first. mercilessly. no one will know, no one will even care—' 'then let them. i don't care. whether the Vigilante succeeds or fails, there's at least one person who will always report on it. and even if no one finds out, at least you will! to prove himself, a man beat his head against a wall and tried.' *pauses* 'if you still want to stop me, after that, then kill me now. i won't run away. but if not... what you told me about. that justice? you have to show me now.'

Never Twice. 8.5
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life, (kdrama) ;Homemade Love Story (kdrama)
It’s a family story drama with 72 episodes (32min long). Is it worthwhile watching. Absolutely. It’s hella melodramatic though, so keep that in mind going in. You have a corrupt family, a somewhat vengeful widow, a suicidal couple, a golfer, two adults nearing their 50s who act like they’re in their 20s and a cute older couple. It can get a bit bonkers at times especially towards the later half, the ending had me rolling my eyes on how everyone ended up in one big happy family. And I mean EVERYONE. It’s still a really nice drama even with its ups and downs especially with the main leads who had a beautiful storyline that was written brilliantly for them. I mean the chemistry between the two. *chefs kiss*
