Internal jokes with my friends I wanna explain to TXT

a/n: Lol, I just thought about this a few minutes ago and it's so silly, sadly our internal jokes are in Spanish bc we're Mexicans but I did my best trying to explain it, sorry if it's not funny but if you're Hispanic it'd make sense I guess

"Al power point"

So this is an evolution

In Mexico we have our own way of saying "Fr" which is "al chile"

So my friends and I made it evolution.

It passed from "al chile" to "al chili dog"

And then it passed to "al power point"

Let's be real, Yeonjun LIKES the dad's jokes

And even if this is not one of them, the fact that he's saying it while make it sound like a dad's joke.

Like imagine the members faces if they're gossiping about something and Yeonjun just says "al power point" out of nowhere

I can see Soobin's nasty look already

Now this HAS context

Like, a lot

So it all started with this video (sfw link ig)

Translation of the video: Uhhhhh, It reminds me of my childhood, when I was in kindergarten and we did a play. Haaaaaaaa! What a laugh cepillin, you're a fool and stupid

Now, Cepillin is an icon in Mexico, he was a kids comedian who used to do TV variety shows and stuff

So the video is a meme of a hater of cepillin calling him stupid and "naco" (It doesn't have a literal translation, but it's used to refer to someone of very low class and without manners)

So my friends and I use it ALL the THE TIME when someone makes a bad joke

We just say like "Que risa cepillin, con tus payasadas" With The most sarcastic grin and then we drop the smile inmediatly

Believe me, it's hilarious

I'd explain it to Soobin bc mf is sassy as hell

"Beomgyu is too bratty to know that he's an introvert and Soobin is too introverted to know he's bratty too"

So I see him making fun of the members with this

Like, someone made the worst joke ever (Yeonjun saying "al power point" lmao)

And he'll just go "Que risa cepillin 😀😐"

Okay it literally means "shut the ball up"

Here comes the context:

So I had a sociology teacher that wasn't from Mexico (He was from Ecuador or Perú, idk & idc)

And whenever the class got too loud he shouted "Chicos, parenme bola!"

The literal translation is "Stop my ball"

But it's used as a way to say "Guys, pay attention"

But here in Mexico it sounds really bad lmao

Bc you're literally saying "stop my ball"

That kind of ball

So we make fun of it

So now my friends and I say "Cállate la bola" even if we're not talking at all lol

I would explain this to Beomgyu bc he's so loud and literally teases someone every time he breaths

So I think he'd say it to the members every 3 seconds even if they're not talking 💀

"Totn"

Okay so, this started for a friend that texts like shit

Like, she wrote once that she was heterogeneous instead of heterosexual (straight)

So that happened, instead of writing "tonta/tonto" (silly or stupid), she wrote "totn" which can be pronounced like "toten"

And we started saying it all the time like, "Fucking totn" or "Que totn" (what a totn)

I see Taehyun using this one because I don't see him as someone who swears a lot.

So this "insult" is perfect for him

Like, I can see him making fun of one of the members mistake, like, chuckling with a shit eating smirk and saying "Ha, totn" or even "Fucking totn"

[🌱] Kai Kamal Huening

Any Spanish word with the termination "eta/ete"

Example:

Cocina (kitchen) = cocineta

Lápiz (pencil) = lapicete

So, idk if Kai swears

Like, ik I'm babying him but let's say he doesn't

So my friends are ALWAYS adding and "eta/ete" to EVERYTHING

With the most annoying tone ever I swear

So I see Kai doing the same to tease his members

Especially with fake aegyo

Something like "Can I have the manzaneta?" (manzana = apple) while doing aegyo

His members are so tired of him by now

Like he'll call them "miembretes" as "miembros" (members) when he wants to taste the patience

I also see him saying "ojete" as "ojo" which means eye, but "ojete" means anus LMAO

before i dive into this, some notes: (1) this actually isn't something i would write because i do not feel like i have a read on one of the main characters or the vibes of the 2013-2022 florida panthers. (2) i'm so sorry if you personally aren't into this. (3) it got away from me so much of it is under a cut

anyway here is the story: it's september of 2022 in fort lauderdale, florida. florida panthers summer blockbuster acquisition matthew tkachuk is happy, and thriving, and ready to succeed in his new home, where he'll wear shorts and loafer mules 365 days a year. he has a great house that cost him basically his whole signing bonus and enough loved ones eager to visit that he'll never have to be banging around the giant house alone. he already has a sunburn.

there's only one small, small issue: he's 100% heartbroken.

(now for our purposes i don't think leon is the one who broke his heart. i think either johnny -- tragic unrequited love that johnny finally shut down? complicated relationship johnny broke off to flee to ohio? -- or just some guy he was dating who dumps him for some devastating reason that matthew handles with no grace at all internally and with perfect poise externally)

anyway, he's here now. new team. fresh start. he's going to make new friends and fill his life with rich new relationships and not miss what he used to have at all. one of those rich new relationships is going to be with his teammate and captain and definitely soon to be friend sasha barkov. he always wants to make friends but he's especially determined about this one.

what he doesn't know is that sasha is also heartbroken. his boyfriend? fwb? undefined something? jonny huby was up and traded with no warning and also dumped him. (see this is where i don't know enough about the vibes of the 2013-2022 florida panthers)

but sasha is friendly, and he clearly likes matthew, even if he's quiet and, matthew thinks, careful with his heart. but matthew's easy to like, you know? he's upbeat and thoughtful and generous and wants the people he's with to know he cares about them.

they get to know each other slowly, carefully, but still ... with maybe too much intensity. they do both have these major holes in their lives that they're looking for something to fill. late nights sharing a drink or a meal after the game that turn into really late nights, that sometimes turn into very early mornings. the season isn't going great, and they talk about that, but they also talk about their lives and their families and matthew's old team and what they think their current team could be, if they could get everyone healthy at the same time.

slowly, they start to spill about their past relationships, too. the nights don't get shorter. sometimes they crash at each other's places, just because it's easier. matthew likes not clattering around a big house by himself in the morning, likes the noise of sasha cursing under his breath at the fancy espresso machine taryn basically ordered him to buy and the soft murmur of the tv from the other room. it's what he wanted when he bought this big stupid house, to have someone (or many someones, a whole family) to fill it up with.

matthew is the main character of all star weekend, and he feels sasha watching him, and it feels like that has its own weight. every time he makes sasha laugh it feels heavier and more important and harder to think about too much. wanting things is how he got his heart broken in the first place. it's easier if he doesn't.

and then, of course, things start to go well and that makes it even more impossible to look directly at. he can't fuck this up now. can't rock the boat. but the thing between them, big and scary and intense and yet still easy, it's always easy, it felt like slotting into a place he was always meant to be from the beginning -- that thing, that doesn't go away.

matthew doesn't breathe a word of it until they finally lose. (conference final? cup final? is this concept i'm spinning on tumblr gonna get jossed in a month?) sasha comes over, maybe a day or two later, and they drink beers outside and nearly get caught by a thunderstorm and matthew kisses him while the rain beats against the windows and sasha doesn't sleep in the guest room that night

found your et*rnals post through tags and honestly, i AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY.. there are so many things to unpack but the only thing that got “resolved” imo is just them ‘defeating’ that celestial (tiamut, was it?).. the rest are still in ?? shambles ????? .. lots of things that seem important and part of the build up of the story in the trailers are deleted/not shown in the movie.. it’s so disappointing :( and dont get me started on ikaris and ikaris x sersi potential.. it’s all just show but no telling ugh. the potentials, as you say, indeed are wasted

You know what, anon.

I COMPLETELY agree. I feel like the movie wanted to be so many things, it couldn't decide what it actually was. Like...is it supposed to be found family/team as family? Redemptive, after the truth is revealed to our heroes? Character growth, after the thousands of years our heroes have been on this earth? An actual superhero movie with pretty superhero powers we shouldn't look too closely at?

It was all of it and none of it at the same time. The main plot was there, but it felt like it fell so flat. And the subplots for each character just...they ALL had so much potential and there was some sort of start/buildup, but ultimately went nowhere. Except for Sprite's whole thing about being in love with Ikaris. That was just plain stupid.

And I personally love morally gray characters and satisfying arcs, whether they're redemptive or the character owns up to what they've done. That's partially why I loved Zuko so much, why I loved Riku from Kingdom Hearts so much, because they had a journey of growth, and whether or not the ending is good or bad, it's still a satisfying journey. For our favorite bird who flew too close to the sun...Ikaris had none of that. They completely shortchanged him into this dogma-brainwashed being whose only line he wouldn't cross was Sersi, and that wasn't enough. We know he struggled for a long time, but WHERE is the evidence of that struggle, if he had known the truth since Babylon? We see him and Sersi getting married and settling down for thousands, hundreds of years, only for him to leave a century or so prior to the start of the present day, but

WHERE IS HIS STRUGGLE???

His leaving Sersi and their reunion could have been like the most epic thing, but no, it fell flat because he just...left. Like any good husband would, you know 😑

And the ending where he yeets himself into the sun, I just. OF COURSE YOU TURN HIM INTO A MEME, THINGS HE LITERALLY DID, HIM WHOSE NAME IS IKARIS/ICARUS: THAT.

NOTHING about that was satisfying. We know he felt so much remorse and guilt and failure and ultimately, he couldn't live with all of it, knowing he failed and let his family down and he killed Ajaks and was partially responsible for Gilgamesh's death. But...like...wouldn't it be more satisfying if THIS was the part where he actually leaves Sersi and the team to atone for like x hundred/thousand years? Or something along those lines? We know he and Sersi never really fell OUT of love, so wouldn't this be heart-wrenching, but ultimately satisfying and bittersweet and hopeful, that whenever he returned, he would have found a way to live with himself and all he's done, and the team had to rebalance their equilibrium?

Oh, and the plot holes of this movie. The biggest one: Tiamut. Yes, they defeated a celestial. Yes, they saved earth. Now what? What about the billions of lives that should have been created with Tiamut? Which, I assume, will be addressed in a later movie since that was hinted at the end of this one, but also what about the whole Tiamut-unibrain thing? If the Eternals survived each emergence by bonding with the celestial, then that essentially means that when they all bonded at the end...Tiamut helped defeat itself.

I mean, WHAT????? WHAT SORT OF LOGIC IS THIS. Like it doesn't even make sense in the movie's internal logic??? I'm so confused???

Anyway, that was a very long-winded rant, so I'm just going to say, THANK YOU, ANON for reaching out to me and letting me know I am not alone in this frustration and letting me have the chance to go off about this movie. I'm just going to go stare at pictures of Gemma Chan and Richard Madden and watch Kingo and Druig/Makkari clips to make myself feel better ❤️

okay genuinely so glad u mentioned this— ALSO @ PPL TIRED OF SEEING ME TALK ABT CRESTORIA I'M SORRY U CAN MUTE THE mod.txt TAG FOR NON MEME SHIT— anyway i have a Lot of issues w crestoria's writing and like. god i love the Characters but the Writing....

okay so like first of all, i think the theme of like "oh it's wrong to judge ppl based on only a tiny action w/o the whole story" and honestly that natalia event? way back forever ago? was like REALLY good w it like i think it was handled Wonderfully there.

(warnings for discussions of child abuse below)

but. can we...stop? trying to excuse cody? like this man was abusive and trafficking children and being all "i've got to cure my daughter's disability <3" just. rubs me wrong. and this isn't the first time tales has done this either, like cheria's like "but aston was nice to Me!" like. cool, cheria. that doesn't. excuse his abusive behavior. the same w jude's dad in milla's route (i call him dickrick bc he fucking sucks) like dude you're just Abusive that's all there is to it. and there's no excuse—AND I'M SORRY TO GET SO HEAVY ABT THIS ON A MEME ACCT but it's a topic that's very personal for me. and the same shit with penelope's mom?? like i don't think yuna was in the wrong At All on that and im like if you want to make it feel like they condemned ppl wrongly, just look at farah's side story even!

but also like, not to even go into the terrible characterizations in the events (yet) but esvanilla also kind of pissed me off?? like. they're like "oh ppl just judge others bc they want to hate them" AND THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT HAPPENED TO YUNA!!! and yuna just stands there like "lol anyway" and i think it could've been really meaningful and yuna could've rlly had a spotlight for a minute to like...reflect on her own condemnation which. i kind of thought our theme was "the mcs were wrongly condemned" so that misella and kanata are backtracking on it and being like "im a bad person totally responsible for my sin" is just. [heavy sigh] but anyway yeah i thought it could've been a great moment of character development for yuna. and i get that kanata is the mc but. can other characters pls get a bit of spotlight? please?

as for events—OHHHH MY GOD. half the time the writing is just so genuinely awful esp w aegis like he's so ooc imo and i don't. get it at all. which i also feel like aegis had a single moment to be like "okay cool ill stop being depressed" but ppl are still dying in front of him? like? i just? maybe internal conflict over killing ppl esp other knights maybe??? but also there was like. i think it was an event, it could've been a character episode—either way! aegis was like "being poor is bad and awful and makes u have less worth as a human" or some stupid bs and im like. did. did the writers forget he literally comes from a really poor family what kind of fake ass aegis is this—

anyway im SO sorry for this long rant NFNFKDKFBF i do love crestoria's... characters. the. the gameplay. is. well, it's. [looks at all the broken ass units lately] and the writing is... uh. not...the best. but anyway genuinely just putting in characters like malcolm and esvanilla for like a single chapter and then killing them w/o another thought or deeper insight into their goals/the impacts they even have on others is just! what the fuck! i love malcolm's evil little ass so his death was extremely disappointing to me, and i honestly rlly love esvanilla too!! but i think esvanilla could've like. really contributed a lot more to the story than he Did (and malcolm too but) MAN.
