To be hollowed out, becoming the glass structure that entraps Light & digests its screams as a Beacon that signals the Witness' path towards finality, its bones a twisted memory of life cast aside for salvation...

My piece for the #DisciplesofTheWitness zine ✨️🔥✨️

Concept art & some lore bits below ~ (bc this look is VERY lore heavy LOL)

This is what Witness did with the Hive, but if it was a human Guardian instead. Sort of a "what would that look like as someone from Earth by today's standards", since my main OC is pre Golden Age era.

In feeling hollowed out by the sufferings in life, it meant being asked to be literally hollow. Wanting to become precision, the shell molded into sharpened glass that you hear gently scraping together when walking, etc. The bones are wrung into strangling branches holding up the glass shell.

In becoming an agent of evil, it comes in the vague form of a business suit. Because of course it does. Pre golden age was brimming with corporate corruption; few things say "darkness" like a business suit. But Darkness itself is far too beloved to not adorn the shell; becoming the curtains for the shattered windows (symbolism, anyone?) until the moment comes to construct the glass tower that becomes the full form of The Beacon of The Witness.

That tower is a worm god. One who's entire structure was broken down and joined with the disciple. Now hollowed out and made of glass, either spread flat across the ground beneath the disciple's feet (which can never disconnect from the worm now) or erected as the tower; a form that can indeed be inhabited. Not that most survive the experience.

The worm's sharpened glass form cuts ahead into populated areas, consuming people, trapping them in its walls & draining them of any life force or Light they may have. That is the light of the Beacon at work.

Unless doing such work, the Beacon takes this form more commonly.
