everyone on this site loves to go on and on about how they love trains but no one ever mentions the fact that train riders are absolute weirdo freaks. for example theres this one guy on this train eating corn on the cob by pulling off each kernel one at a time and eating them individually

The books I want to read this way currently are Walkable City, Happy City, and The Death and Life of Great American Cities

I am not the best at keeping up with books, so my plan to actually finish reading all the urban planning books I bought is to read through them section by section, reading the first chapter or section, (maybe 2 or 3 sections if they are short) all the way through then taking a break for a little bit, then returning for the next section or group of sections

@maeve-the-potato @foodforthefoul I would agree with both of you, neither could exist without the other, I made this poll because I was tired of people on tumblr acting as though the existence of cities was an ecological disaster but I think that this is basically what I would say. We need both to be designed well and more sustainably because we need food from rural areas and we need cities to house the majority of people because of economies of scale and the need for mass production in the modern era

Unfortunately Cats are incredibly hard to find outside of like 5 cities and cornerstores are illegal to open with the existence of single use zoning laws

imagine if there were bodega cats and cornerstores outside of nyc, we'd have world peace ... if only they knew how great we have it in the big apple
