how come every time someone asks “which BG3 character would adjust best to our world” or “which BG3 character would be able to handle [food/cultural aspect from our world]?”
nobody EVER says Lae’zel? In canon that girl is like 22. Born in space. Grew up on a comet or whatever the hell by the Moon. Got kidnapped by her People’s ancient terror/worst enemy. Dropped off on a random planet in the immediate company of people who hate/distrust her simply at a glance and she is just rolling with it. She is just ALWAYS rolling with it.
She’s eating whatever the fuck Gale throws on the fire every night. No idea what a carrot was until yesterday. No complaints.
Everyone but Wyll & Karlach is like 40 years older than her minimum and so mean for no reason. She doesn’t care. She’s got a job to do.
Oh it turns out the God-Queen she’s dedicated her entire existence to is a farce? Needs to be destroyed? If you’ve been nice to her it takes 45 seconds to deconstruct her entire lifelong understanding of the meaning of everything she’s ever known. She’s on your side.
Every single thing you do in the game is alien to her. That woman has never been to a circus.
Yet she’s eating carrots and petting a dog and ready to kill her God.
And people think she couldn’t handle a Costco? PLEASE!!!!!

Honestly MAJOR missed opportunity for Karlach to have some kind of permanent 'buff' that deals minor fire damage to anyone who touches her in melee. Like obviously it'd be strong for fighting beasts, because every time they hit her with claws/fangs they take damage, but just from a STORY-TELLING ASPECT?
How heartbreaking would it be when you're trying to cast Cure Wounds on her? In order to heal her, you have to hurt yourself and she KNOWS IT. You go to cast Longstrider on the party and you hesitate as you reach Karlach. Yeah, it's only a few points of damage, it's not that big a deal, but does she REALLY need it? Is it worth it?
You linger, hesitate. You realize you don't want to touch her. You realize that's what EVERYONE thinks when they see her. You realize she KNOWS You're hesitating, staring at her sheepishly as you try to think of whether or not it's worth the pain just to help her.
You learn to support her from a distance. Healing Word. It's not as effective, but you don't need to get hurt for her sake. And so she learns to get used to receiving help from a distance. Just words of encouragement. It's all anyone wants to give her. Maybe it's all she'll ever get.
Aid? Bardic Inspiration? You don't need to touch her to give it to her. You can keep her at a distance and not get burned. And you're still helping her.
It's just... cold.

When someone calls Wyll or Halsin boring, honestly what I hear is that they think kindness is boring. And kindness... really isn't. It's hard to be kind in a world like the Forgotten Realms, where evil abounds and selflessness is often punished. Their entire arcs are about the challenges that come from being good, how much suffering it can cause, which nicely foils the arcs Astarion and Lae'zel have about what it means to be evil and what those choices bring in comparison.
Wyll's kindness left him in a bind where someone else literally owned his soul. Halsin's kindness led him to be imprisoned and tortured by goblins. That isn't boring; that's heartbreaking.

I always have Durge carry the prayer of forgiveness around with him, can’t leave that shit lying around or just send it to camp, because look if I was an amnesiac and found that thirsty and gay of a note written in my own handwriting about my biggest, greasiest enemy I absolutely would not let it out of my sight

I wonder how you earn Durge's approval or disapproval? Being that he would be a complicated character due to his murderous tendencies + his possible desire for redemption.
Probably if she were a character you could recruit she would be the hardest to gain her love/friendship.
ArcturianAru from Twitter has given a few ideas on how he would approve! I follow off of this:
