maybe if you take a hot shower. cook something. eat a little soup. feel a little sunshine. make something with your hands—it doesn’t have to be big. maybe if you stretch your body and draw a silly little picture and get some rest, the world will feel like something your hands can still hold

I was asked, “what is the worst emotion a human being can feel?”
I answered, “loneliness”.
Loneliness; not because of the sadness, but because of the comfort it brings. You get used to it, you make a home inside of it; you think you could fall in love with it.
Then you meet someone.
You distance yourself from that loneliness. Now you’re scared of it’s become your own worst enemy. You no longer want to make a home within it; you want to close the door, lock it and throw away the key.
You don’t know how you’ll ever truly handle being lonely again.

“I have learned that when sadness comes to visit me, all I can do is say “I see you.” I spend some time with it, get up, and say goodbye. I don’t push it away. I own it. And because I own it, I let it go.”

I’m afraid of a lot of things, but mostly, most sincerely, I am afraid of being completely unraveled by you, and you finding nothing you want in here.

your twenties are about realising you’re not and simply aren’t going to be dazzlingly cool the way you wanted to be and tried to be in your teenage years, that you’ll never be that image you tried to chisel yourself into—but that you have grown quite accidentally and organically cool in an entirely new way and you don’t mind the unexpectedness of it. not at all
