JP vs. Localization in Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation
(Okay, for real this time lol)
Again, here’s a link to my sources post.
Fortunately, this route follows suit in terms of good localization quality after Conquest. It’s the shortest out of all the posts, since I don’t really have a lot to talk about. Mostly subtle line changes, references and a few key points of information that were cut out. I also went through Hidden Truths and Heirs of Fate to see if I could add stuff from those on here, but there were no big problems that I found.
Once again, the main part of this post will all be put under the cut. If a chapter isn’t covered, it means I didn’t think there were any differences worth talking about.
I’ll use localized names for characters and locations, unless I feel the need to do otherwise.
I’ll be using she/her when referring to Corrin in this post. (I flipped a coin to decide the gender lol)
Also, note that after Chapter 14, the translation of this route on Fateswartable ends, so I mostly relied on the English patch done by Serenes at that point forward. (I also used PegasusKnight.com as a reference to fall back on if I needed it)

listened to more of gunter's voicelines today, feh edition & JP my room edition!
unfortunately they don't have everything up on the wiki :l (eg feh level 40 quote). i think i'll have to track down that massive asset folder floating around on gdrive to grab all of it. which will be excellent when i finally get the gunter fanshrine up and running because i swear half my motivation now for that is to keep track of all these files/scripts...
(krad can't you listen to it... on your phone...) shitty phone speakers suck lol
i like douglas' lines in feh better than fates proper, ironically; feels like he's toned down the ham a touch.
that said douglas feels like he'd be perfect for possessed!gunter especially - i think that's where he can really let the ham loose and there's the fun mental split-second confusion of sounding like the same guy but then obviously the possession injects a completely different flavor. same kind of thing re: drawing body language i've talked about. i might have to listen to some of wesker's lines for this.....
the damaged feh audios in both languages... is fun... to listen to .... >_> especially the JP one where he kinda hisses in pain sharply krad don't be weird.... <_<
i actually really like the JP audio in feh, obviously i can't understand it but the cadence feels more, hm, stoic, curt, even if it's also got the rasp? if i say authoritative are you guys gonna kill me lol.
speaking of so i grabbed the jp my room audio + transcript off of this post.

it was actually. not quite. as blatantly risque as i was expecting considering the general [waves hand] of the my room shenanigans but there is definitely........ an undertone of 'whoaboy strained fighting self control there' that's pretty delicious......

you ever think about how garon erased everything of gunter's, purely out of spite of being told no? murdering his wife and child would be already beyond the pale but then there's also ...
* razing his whole village (no chance of a living support system around to grieve with him, no chance of recovering lived memories like a home or mementos to take with him elsewhere.)
* taking his honor and dignity after that duel when gunter challenged him - inflicting the scar across his face as a living reminder, taking any kind of agency by forcing him to drink the dragon's blood, and having it all be public....
#something that goes unsaid that i think a lot is the dragon's blood (either between garon's wishes or gunter unintentionally making a mental#pact with anankos for revenge - is that it also robbed him of the death that he almost certinally was aching for at that time.)#i also don't think that ever really goes away unless if a few select things happen.#just... jesus. his backstory is a Lot if you take the time to dig.
