He was very sweet, but also gullible and needed a gentle touch. A happy ending for him wasn’t guaranteed. “The powerlessness was something I’d never experienced on that level before. I’m with the FBI, and even my shiny, powerful badge couldn’t help Violet. So Im just grateful beyond grateful that Sam bought her. She was fine with the school, at least that’s what she told me. But not she gets a lifetime of actually being happy.” She hadn’t said most of this aloud before, so hearing her own words made her smile. “Oh, yes, they’re very considerate in that regard. Vi and I can see each other pretty much whenever we want to as long as she doesn’t have other plans. And I can always go see her perform at the Evans House.”
