I will not look away, and I wholly disagree 😀
While Draco Malfoy may have chosen to be an awful, spiteful, evil little brat of a child, he was just that:
A child.
When the height of the war hit -- that's when things changed.
Suddenly, it's not so funny anymore. Suddenly, his home isn't safe. It's filled with Voldemort's followers. Bellatrix and Greyback haunt the halls. Suddenly, he has to watch Muggle prisoners get tortured and swallowed by Voldemort's demon snake.
Suddenly, his parents' lives are on the line. His own life is on the line.
And *that's* the moment he has no choice.
Not before. He had plenty of choice then. He chose to be awful, and it got him trapped in Voldemort’s web.
Yes, there were so many opportunities he could've switched sides, and *yes* it took a madman and a war to make him realise the beliefs he was raised on were lies...
But he had no choice when it actually mattered.
Draco Fans, Look Away!!
I just saw a post saying Draco didn't have a choice, but I disagree.
He's called Hermione racial slurs from the first moment, insulted Ron's family who knows how many times, and he's teased Harry about his dead parents for who knows how long.
He had a choice. He had a choice to be a good person, someone who wasn't a complete asshole and bigot. He didn't have to be an asshole, but he was. You know why? Because that's just how he is. He was never forced to be a death eater. He had the choice not to be one. But he decided that being a death eater was just easier.
Draco Lucius Malfoy had a choice between what was easy and what was right. He just decided to choose the easier option. I mean, which 12 year old literally wishes someone dead?? He's fucking twelve. A twelve year old Draco Malfoy wished someone dead. He's a fucking asshole, a git, and a complete bigot.
He didn't deserve a redemption arc, yet he still got one.

NOT REALLY A QUESTION, but I kinda noticed that BFC is the only installment (so far) that has the "Friends to lovers" tag, and I just went "??????!!!!!" and now i'm cuestioning my whole existence while I wonder if that is because we'll get A TON of Drarry content or because you just decided its going to stay on the tags from now on????
The first chapter already made me a mess (I'm sure you can tell) and I'm SO here for it.

I am re-reading the JODT (so excited about book 5 coming soon!), and I had completely forgotten about Narcissa giving Harry her blessing to court Draco in book 2. Does this mean she and Sirius now have a bet on when Drarry will get together?
