frodo overhearing gollum murmuring to an imaginary ring, so bright, so beautiful, my precious... i recognize that frodo’s reaction is probably in regards to hearing his own thoughts and intimate toxic relationship with the ring spoken aloud but i imagine it also could reflect his horror at hearing bilbo’s words repeated. you can’t live with the man for fifty years without overhearing his private conversations with the cursed object that seeks to slowly corrupt his soul. imagine frodo witnessing his past present and future all at once in gollum’s reverent murmurings. the fear of losing his self and his sanity in devotion to the ring, the knowledge of how close his uncle came to that fate, and the evidence before his very eyes of a creature once like a hobbit now turned paranoid and fearful and ancient by its influence. we could react to this moment with fear. we could lash out with justifiable terror at this prophecy. but we see frodo get up and instead appeal to the last shred of gollum’s humanity, who are you, what was your name before the ring claimed you, i will call you by that name again and reawake the sleeping part of you that still seeks human comfort. i dont know if you can be saved. i dont know if there’s anything left to save. but while i’m still me, i can offer empathy. god his heart is so big.

I’m telling y’all that if you don’t jump around erratically bc a wasp or hornet flies close to you, you’ll have less interaction time with them

If you’re nervous about them (not yknow. allergic. let’s not intentionally misinterpret what I’m saying) ignore them. And I do mean IGNORE. Don’t react.

Also, are you watering or generally handling a source of liquid and they won’t leave you alone? Share some at a distance from yourself. Hell are you eating and they want some? Share it.

Honestly if people treated them with the calmness and affection they show bees they’d have better experiences.

Anyway, have a little plate for the yellowjackets when you picnic. They are eating the bugs that you don’t like so offer them a gift.
