It hurts so much to see the remnants of Kevin and Jean because Jean was so so so in love with Kevin and he feels so hurt and betrayed but he still trusts Kevin so much, he still wants him to come and do the interview with him, he knows Kevin wouldn’t have sent him to Jeremy if he was dangerous, and Kevin is so gentle with Jean in a way he isn’t with anybody else.

The Neil/Nathaniel name change makes me feral every time. Like first when Neil is headed to Baltimore and leaves Neil Josten behind with the friends who made him a real person? Slaps. Nathaniel dying in Baltimore with his father and Neil coming back to the people he loves? Immaculate. Jean calling him Nathaniel up until the point that Riko dies and immediately switching to Neil? Heartbreaking. Makes me insane actually.

Come with me down this rabbit hole if you will. The moment we the readers find out about how much Andrew cares is the moment he says "I hate you". Because of this one "throw away" line in the first book "I don't care about exy enough to hate it".
I personally think this is the exact moment HE relieved he was in love with Neil. Because he realized he does care, he cares so much it hurts. And he hates that, he hates his feelings, he hates the fact that Neil makes him feel- makes him care.
And so he hates Neil, because he loves him, because he wants him. Because he cares for him.
