Bothersome beast, comforting friend

This is a delayed processing vent post:

Just because I'm trans, queer, disabled, south Asian, etc., doesn't mean that I am here to educate you (or people) OTHER than what I am already doing (by living my life), my published and unpublished works, and what I'm paid for.

All I ask is for respect for my intersectional identities. I can't give you the whole history of "gender" (or what have you) because it's not my job (unless you pay me or I voluntarily do it without coercion).

It is disrespectful to go up to a brown person and ask them to explain racism to you (this is an example).

We aren't necessarily the experts in our identities. Many activists and creators have done that work - hire and pay them, read/watch/consume their work, etc.

I have been (and am currently) putting in a lot of work to figure things out about myself. If you're curious, you can also look stuff up instead of asking someone to share more than their lived experience with you.

If we're friends and familiar, you can ask what it means to me, but I may not know everything. I am a primary source at best unless I have specific knowledge and expertise about it.

telling a joke on tumblr is fun but watch out! if it gets over 1000 notes your joke is automatically exposed to people who have never once heard a joke in their life.

not to sound like a bit from an early 2010s sitcom but it really is amazing to me just how little spinach is required to transform a smoothie that was previously half of half a step above openly being a milkshake into a Green Smoothie, the unimpeachable ambrosia of healthiness. just like one drop of holy water can turn a whole puddle sacred, i’ve added like six spinach leaves to my blender and suddenly anyone who sees what i’m sipping from my novelty jaws (1975) commemorative mug will walk away thinking wow. that’s a person who really cares about what goes into their body
