look, june is around the corner. we all know what happens in June.
so before that hits, and we discuss the importance of LGBTQ+, i’d like to kindly remind everyone that black queer and trans people exist.
i make this reminder only because for some fucking reason—i always see people on this particular website equating things like transphobia and homophobia to racism. when you do that, you are purposely invalidating every queer and trans person of color, specifically black people in this case. they get the worst of both worlds when it comes to that kind of hate (racism/homophobia/transphobia/etc because they check all the boxes).
people of all races can be queer and trans. so don’t equate the hate they get for their skin color to the hate both you and they experience for your gender identity and preferences.
coming from someone who is a part of both—it’s disgusting and frustrating to see.

question: I'm training to be a nurse and I was taught to adjust an IV a few times if you don't get it initially. I'm not digging around like has been done to me, at least not that I'm aware. I stick a needle in, adjust twice, then pull. Is that what you are talking about or are you talking about constantly digging around (which sucks so bad oh my god).
I'm not even sure if this is for me yet....we will see. I feel you on the knives part tho, that happened to me once and then the nurse told me she must have hit a nerve when I told her what it felt like 🥴
unfortunately, she was digging around 😩
I’m pretty used to getting IVs, and this was the first time a nurse didn’t have me do any prep for it (no squeezing my fist or anything like that), she just swabbed over my inner elbow or whatever it’s called, and inserted the needle—didn’t even tap the area or anything. And apparently she couldn’t quite put it in correctly because she was still moving it around during the insertion and when i tell you that was the most painful part of my procedure and the most painful IV placement i’ve ever had, i mean it!!!!
I was trying not to flinch or move my arm and i could actually feel the needle part moving around as she tried to get it into the vein. like she had to hold my arm down move the Iv this way and that way before she finally got it in place and was like “there we go 😊” before securing it. it was a good minute, until she got it, so i’m pretty sure she must have hit something.
i was hoping it would go away on its own, but here we are almost three weeks later with the same sensation. now i’ve got to get to the bottom of that 🫠

I wish nurses who dig around in patients’ problem veins—when trying to insert an IV into, instead of picking the obvious bulging one that has been constantly used without problem—and dont tell them about any possible effects like the sensation of fucking KNIVES DRAGGING ACROSS THE SKIN THE VEIN RUNS UNDER anytime something touches it, a minor inconvenience in their day even though they have now made yet ANOTHER MEDICAL PROBLEM for me to pursue.
