and now i need someone in my life with the name Baraqiel ❤️
What can i say - i am a bookgirl and i can´t stop reading Good-Omens-Fanfiction. So i decided to take you with me for another fanfic-review and rec for you!
When you go by @klikandtuna
This fic is beautiful written and evokes movies in my head!
🫶What i loved about it: there are 3 major plot-twists, which are really taking on a complete new view. The first is pretty apparent, when you read the summary:
Crowley is not a demon but a seraph and is called Baraqiel (oh - like pearls on my tongue!! such a nice pairing to Aziraphale! i love it.) Aziraphale is a demon and is called Azazel. He is not a snake - i wont tell more but his demon-animal is well chosen and totally on point.
The other 2 plot-twists are yours to explore! 😃
👓The fic is beautiful written and each chapter has 2 storylines (mostly past and present) interwoven. To read and feel Baraquiel als a happy and radiant being was such a relief for starters. Both characters are easy to imagine and believable in their words and thoughts.
😮But beware - and this is where i am undecided with it - it is also a heartwrenching and sad read. I dont want to give the story away but know that - at least for me - the story quickly plunged dark and sad to almost unbearable before it got lighter somewhere around the pages 170 (of about 230). So it also took me a lot longer to read, you cant just plunge into these big big big emotions!
Also the story ends with a cliffhanger, equivalent to S2, and is therefore not finished yet. I must admit i was afraid to read the last chapter, but interestingly found the end very intriguing and didnt mind the cliffhanger - i mean, its not as hurtful the last 15' (to me) 😅
personally i would have loved to have a bit more of the nice, happy and positive side to outweigh the really sad storyline in the beginning. i still missed some comfort for my aching reader´s soul in the end.
🤗All in all:
Beautiful read with rather new storylines and lots of heavy feelings
if you´re a tough reader (or into dark places ;-)) and adore a beautiful storyline with switching timelines, wonderful language and are open to take a cross-over in Good Omens, you will absolutely enjoy this! 🫶

@elentary thank your for your thoughts! just to make mine more clear - it was never about Crowley getting a promotion in my head, this is just a side-thought i wanted to mention for the sake of completeness. i just wanted to point out that he had a choice!
Aziraphale was expecting him to take him to hell and he straightaway refused to do so. Twice even.
Crowley put Aziraphale first, or maybe not even that, but that he had met Aziraphale on eye level and maybe - rethinking my own thoughts now - it ALSO has something to do with crowley´s own moral compass. I can only imagine that to Crowley what Aziraphale did when lying to the angels was NOT wrong and that to Crowley Aziraphale simply didnt deserve to fall for that. ❤️That said he would never have been able to live with himself if he had taken Aziraphale to hell.
So to sum up with me stays the thought: Crowley could have made them an us. And he choose not to do so, because Aziraphale would have been unhappy and it wouldnt have been congruent for his own inner belief system.
And maybe - a new thought just now - we also get a glimpse on how awful, hurtful and painful the fall must have been for Crowley. I wonder if there even are things one (angel, human, whatever) could do which would make Crowley take you to hell.
We need to talk about this
Can we pls take a moment to pause here and talk about this scene?
Tumblr media
Because i really think it has not been given credit enough. Everybody is going on about Aziraphale lying to save the children of Job. And how important that step was to him.
But no-one seems to talk about Crowley here.
Because the thing is: Aziraphale expected to fall. I am not certain he thought that the present angels would have noticed his lie, but MAYBE Heaven/Her and MAYBE Hell/Him would somehow have gotten to know. Maybe he thinks somewhere is an alarm going off everytime an angels lies. Maybe he expects Her to see everything. He expected to fall.
But the undeniable truth is: there is only ONE beeing to know for certain that Aziraphale lied. And that is Crowley.
He could have taken Aziraphale to hell. Going down with an Angel in a towrope, telling Satan he had a special present for him. That he did an extraordinary deed. That he made an angel fall. It would probably have made him a Duke, gotten him some further promotion.
And maybe - only maybe - would have gotten him a lifetime with a demon-friend and companion on his side. Because Aziraphale expected to fall. He wouldnt have blamed Crowley for taking him to hell.
So this also was Crowleys chance to make a lifetime with Aziraphale by his side.
And he chose not to do it.
Because Aziraphale would not have liked it.
And that is, why this scene is so important. And really this image here is my point of view on this. What Crowley is doing here. ❤️
Tumblr media
And I really think this is so important when thousands of years later, Aziraphale asks Crowley to come to heaven with him. Because Crowley chose Aziraphale as what he is - millenia ago. He could have made them an "us" ages ago and chose not to.
And whatever the story behind Aziraphales offer* is, THIS is the moment it should be compared to. The moment when Crowley refuses to take his angel to hell, because he wouldnt have liked it there.
Crowley wouldnt have liked heaven. ❤️
Thank you for reading - its been bothering me.
*(whether he really believed the Metatron and wanted Crowley to come with him, whether he was afraid and knew his offer would drive Crowley away, ... i know there are strong opinions on that, but only Neil will tell us in S3)
PS: the first pic i got in a FB-Group, i dont know who to credit for. the second pic is available on etsy as a print

There are stories ... that make you cry. in a good way. ❤️
When i started this story, i first wanted to stop immediatly. the opening notes warning about a lot of wine-makeing kind of irritated me. Plus i have been reading fanfic about the ineffable idiots now for 4 months in a row without once taking a break and tried to talk myself out of it. 🤦‍♀️ BUT: i am weak! so i gave it a go and it was (again) one of the most beautifulest stories i have read. and the parts about the wine-making were so intriguing, that all i want to do right now is to fly to california, drive to this wonderfull vineyard ecdyses and have a taste-flight with its owners.
and the thing is - you can start a book like this and on page 1 you know the plot. you don´t know the twists and turns, the hidden angsty-parts, but you know the plot and can still enjoy the ride. (and hell, some nights i couldnt stop because i was in the middle of the angsty part and NEEDED to get into safe waters). this book made me cry and i am reluctant to part with it. even thinking about starting it again right now. and the only thing keeping me from it is that i know that there are so many other brilliantly written stories out there. so please take this as a love letter and a thank you, @sevdrag ! And a healing note to all of us, who wished that the stories never end: "storys don´t end when the book ends - you just not spying on them anymore" (a quote from another wonderfull fanfic called What We Make Of It). ❤️

Crowley:
Bodycount 0
Nakedness 0
Loyality 100
Monogamous 100
Sexy - as hell
I really dont get why people often refer to him as "slut". I dont get the whole slutshaming anyways, i mean we live in the 20th century. But for an angelic demon, who has been 1000% orientated to a non-sexual person for 6000 years, even waited for millenias for their first kiss - to call him a slut? Thank you - it´s been bothering me.
