The morning after the shibuya incident

The morning after shibuya Ino had sat up in a bed he never remembered laying down in. With a groan he pushes himself to sit up, thinking he’s alone in the room until someone reaches behind him and adjusts the pillows so he can lean back against them. He looks over and is met with Shoko fluffing his pillows, His brows furrowing as he sees the solemn look on her face. Before shoko could move her hands away Ino grabs her wrist, not threateningly, he just wanted answers.

“Where’s Nanami?” Ino asks as he looks around the room once more, deep down he’s almost expecting Nanami to walk in at any time

Shoko remains quiet as the cigarette that hangs off her mouth falls to the ground, she straightens her back out but keeps her head down as she mutters out 4 heartbreaking words

“He didn’t make it”

Ino’s hand tightens around Shoko’s wrist before he lets go, his hand falling and his mind falling even further. Ino’s heart was shattered, one would even say him finding out nanami died is worst than what Ino went through with Toji.

“We couldn’t recover his watch but we did get this” Shoko speaks once more as she holds out nanami’s blunt weapon, Ino feels paralyzed, all he can do is stare at the spotted wrapping around where the blade is, wishing desperately the person holding it was nanami, not shoko.

Shoko realized Ino wasn’t reaching for the object in her hands so she sets it down in Ino’s lap. Without another word, Shoko leaves the room.

The moment Ino hears the door click shut he wants to scream, he wants to go find Nanami himself, he wants this to be a sick dream, one he wanted more than anything to wake up from.

But he doesn’t do any of that. He picks up the weapon with shaky hands and hugs it close to his chest as his tears he didn’t know he was holding back spill from his eyes, his sobs filling the once quiet room, his knees come to his chest and he curls in on himself. Ino clings to the weapon tightly, afraid that if he loosens up even in the slightest that this weapon would disappear from his grasps, just like Nanami did and Ino would be damned if he lost anything else.

i was thinking about how in lovecraft stories it’s a common theme for the MC to be suicidal by the end of the story bc the MC had seen so much shit but in the shibuya arc of jjk toji had gone against dagon, the curse inspired by lovecrafts writing and i was like “wow he’s the first to go against a lovecraftian horror and not be suicidal” but then i remember the “not zenin, huh? good for you” scene and immediately took back what i said
