I always head cannoned the idea that alastor learnt his transatlantic accent when he was alive for his radio show since his Louisiana-creole twang would have marked him out as being black and, therefore, unfit for the job (as per standard 1920/30s racism in the south). Him saying ‘this face was made for radio’ only confirms that to me, as if he’s stating ‘the only way I could be accepted is if I didn’t show my face’.

I have a further head canon based on this though that, when he was sent to hell, part of his enteral punishment was to only be able to speak in his radio persona to forcibly separate him from his humanity, his heritage, and his mother (because he’s a massive mamas boy). I headcannon that he is quite litterally incapable of speaking normally as part of his punishment to remind him, every time he opens his mouth, of everything he has traded away for power.

Currently thinking about how when husk grabbed angel and danced a quick waltz with him to cheer him up in ‘loser, baby’, angel immediately fell into the steps but still looked so shocked and surprised because that’s probably the first time anyone has tried to dance with him just for the sake of dancing with him and not in a grinding precursor to sex since he was alive. Then he immediately opens up to husk and starts joining in with the song properly like all he wanted to know was that husk wasn’t joking about wanting to know him as person and not his porn persona.

He was really just testing husk to see if he was worth getting to know the whole time and husk proved that he was.
