videogames are overpriced. for the past three years I've resorted to only buying games for myself that are in £10 bundles if it has a game I want. And the bundles are usually cheaper or the same price as the one game I want and i get a few others i can also mess with.
games more than £20 are stupidly priced because like. Say you're a little kid and you want a videogame. You have to ask your parents. My parents are middle class and I'd get like £5/month budget. so I'd have to wait 4 months for a videogame. Which I didn't mind because i mostly just played Minecraft. But now, games are priced like £50-100. and DLC makes it worse.
I never buy games on my wishlist over £30 unless they go on sale and usually wait till Christmas for my parents to get me one.
Worst comes to worst, I pirate the game. I don't like pirating because i like getting steam achievements as dumb as that sounds. I also generally have the brain ideology of if you can afford it without it affecting living, pay for it. E.g. if it doesn't affect paying rent, bills, petrol, food etc and you have £15 lying around and you want to buy Stardew Valley, Buy Stardew Valley. If you don't have the money to pay for it Pirate it.
With indie games I think its better to pay for them. They usually tend to not be insanely priced aswell (although i would not mind spending £70 for Silksong considering the new Zelda is £70 and i think objectively Silksong is going to be 100x better)
But things like FIFA and Just Dance, all those games with a new one every year, do you REALLY need £70/copy? Can't you of added it to the last one as like £10/copy dlc??? wouldn't that be so much better? Or maybe just. Update the games instead?
I've never understood the people at my secondary school who would buy a new copy of FIFA every single year. Like you're wasting your money. Just between you and your friends agree on one version of FIFA and then you only need one version of FIFA each instead of every single one from 2010 to 2023

“I want to speak to a manager,” the middle-aged woman said in her stern I-used-to-be-a-soccer-mom-ten-years-ago voice, looking down at me over the top of her Gucci reading glasses.
A wicked grin split across my face and the gates of Hell opened up behind me, releasing a gust of hot wind that whipped my apron around my body and forced the woman to shield her face. Demons came forth, dancing around in flames with songs of, “She wants to speak to a manager. Did you hear that? She wants to speak to a manager!” before erupting into earsplitting shrieks of laughter, none louder than my own cackling.
I took in the woman’s look of utter horror before my eyes rolled back into my head and I growled,
“I am the manager.”
