ive called them zweiola before but yeah, they dont have a formally recognized ship name because soulcaliburs shipping community is extremely small lol but since we're here, LETS TALK ABOUT THEM

for how little screentime they have together, they really are a package deal. everything about them fits together like a puzzle. they even canonically describe themselves as kindred spirits.

theyre both outcasts who are forced to live as nomads, both considered freaks and abominations. they end up needing to rely on one anothers company and protection. it really is them against the world. zwei in particular was so happy to finally find someone who was just like him that he swore he would protect her with his life and stay by her side until she found her memories again. viola, having decided that humans are cruel, canonically is incapable of empathizing with or understanding anyone who isnt zwei

so then with all that said, TELL ME AGAIN WHY THEY ARENT CANONICALLY A COUPLE. LIKE 😭😭😭 yeah in canon they are barely seen together but THE LORE ESTABLISHES THAT THEYRE BASICALLY JOINED AT THE HIP !! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARENT LITERALLY MARRIED

Talim/Yun-seong for the ship ask! 😁

i am prefacing this by saying i would not ship them as they are right now, i moreso see it happening a few years after canon. but i just love the juxtaposition between the hotheaded arrogant brat (affectionate) and a literal angel. i like the idea of talim very gently opening yuns eyes to his own ignorance. it definitely helps that yun is very quick to respect talim and decide that they make a good team.

i like to imagine that yun is quite protective of her as well. and i think that by spending time together, yun will become more mature and grow wiser. in exchange, i think that yun will help talim learn to have fun and will treat her less like someone worth putting on a pedastal the way her village does and more like a peer/a friend. i think these two are so incredibly underexplored and i really hope sc7 is the beginning of their further development. if not though, i recommend my fic Desire for the Blade 😌 i will be doing a lot of exploration there soon hopefully

Starting from when they first meet, Syzoth is taken aback by how much Ashrah looks like and sounds like his wife he just discovered was dead. i view crossovers in two ways, 1) with characters from two or more fandoms meeting/interacting with each other in the same story and 2) taking characters from one fandom and sticking them in the universe of another fandom without actually including that fandoms characters

i preface this answer by saying that i am EXTREMELY picky with how crossovers are done. i think isekai stories are incredibly boring unless there is canon precedence for it, i personally like to do it by making au versions of characters to make them fit into other universes more seamlessly.

ive definitely thought about a soulcalibur x starwars au before but moreso because i feel like it would be super fun to draw. its fun to imagine who would be on which side of the force, what species everyone would be, what their lightsaber would look like or what they would wield instead. it already kinda works because we had starwars guest characters before and then lucasarts made a comic about it so like it already kinda exists?? maybe its not mainline canon anywhere but soulcalibur has a multiverse so maybe its canon SOMEWHERE lol. but also if i were to actually undertake this idea for writing, i probably would not include any of the canon starwars characters i would just fill the galaxy with starwars au!soulcalibur characters

i have also thought about a soulcalibur x mortal kombat au before too but like it would have to be very particular characters. calibur has a handful of underage characters and like i kinda want to keep them far away from mk gore tbh lol but like i could see a few characters fitting in REALLY well in the mk universe. azwel would either get along really well with shang tsung and quan chi or he would become the bane of their existence, im not sure yet. i dont have the words to explain why yet but i feel like tira and havik would be a really fun duo. kilik and liu kang would get along really well. i really want to see syzoth interact with aeon calcos because they are basically the inverse of each other, syzoth is a reptiloid who can change to a human form at will but aeon was born a human and was changed into a lizardman against his will. idk if i would pair astaroth up with any character in mk but i just feel like his general vibe works as some sort of an outworld monster. OH and i REALLY want to see geras meet zasalamel because they are both so similar but also so incredibly different

the fun thing about a soulcalibur x mk crossover is that both of them have multiversus and in soulcalibur, the witcher universe canonically fits into the soulcalibur multiverse. which makes me feel like other games could also have their own universe be canon in the soulcalibur multiverse. AND spawn has a line in mk11 that indicates that he remembers his time as a guest in soulcalibur 2 ("Maybe that's why my soul still burns" <- soulcaliburs tagline has always been "does your soul still burn?") which is good enough evidence for me to say that soulcalibur and mortal kombat exist in adjacent universes and thus a crossover would actually make sense

“Why wouldn’t it be?” Z.W.E.I. responded. “I’m here with you, aren’t I?” He opened his eyes to meet her gaze. Even in the dark, he could tell she wasn’t buying it. 

She maintained her unimpressed expression before sighing and laying back down. Her head found its way back to his chest and his arm reached around her slender frame to hold her close. Her curly silver hair cascaded back behind her in neat tresses. He might have thought he was holding an angel in his arms if he believed in them. Her finger continued to trace over his chest. “You know I don’t need you to tell me. I could find out on my own.” 

Those words unlocked a fear Z.W.E.I. didn’t know he had. Viola could read most anyone and everyone like a book. She knew what was in their hearts, she knew their pasts, she knew their futures. Up until now, Z.W.E.I. had always taken it for granted that she wouldn’t pry into his soul like that. He was always open with her about his own past, and there was nothing he hid from her. But the idea of her actually witnessing the strife he had been through first hand was never something he felt he needed to worry about. How could he possibly be okay with subjecting her to that sort of pain and torture?

Z.W.E.I.’s hand moved to meet hers and he brought her wrist up to his lips for a tender kiss. “And I love you even more because I know you won’t do that.”
