Cause I’m just saying he is, almost despite himself, braver and more helpful than he is given credit for. He WANTS to think of himself as self interested and a pure survivalist but when push comes to shove, all other things being equal, he really doesn’t like seeing people die and will go out of his way to prevent it.

So about 3 years ago, @starbuck did a guessing game for whose full name gets said most often in Black Sails. I submitted my guess, John Silver, but then suddenly I got a mini mental montage of a whole bunch of people saying 'Charles Vane' with different levels of annoyance, and I had to go back and change my guess.

Turns out Charles Vane is indeed the full name said most often, with a total of 57 times throughout the show.
