FUTURE DREAMS Season 05, Week 03 Scenarios // 배우빈

Once again, Woobin’s swept off to some room, excused from training, and this time he knows better than to worry he’s done something wrong. He presumes this time he won’t have to do anything too hard, like last time, since he’d been given no prior warning for whatever he was being taken away for. However, when he’s led into a room where the PD of the show sits waiting, his stomach does a nervous flip, and he wonders if maybe he did do something wrong after all. Once he’s sat in the office, though, they tell him why he’s there.

“Rank yourself from 1-25 on whether you suit the definition of ‘the best trainee’.”

They hand him a list of all twenty-five contestants, and his eyes skim over it, wondering how he should answer. He wants to come across confident, but not arrogant. So, he should say somewhere near the top, right? He can’t really say first, since he knows, and everyone else knows it’s not true. There’s a few people he’d for sure rank above himself, but he doesn’t necessarily think he’s the worst either. He’s not got the same kind of weaknesses some others have—he’s more of an all rounder, so he doesn’t have one specific skill he’s bad at.

“I’d have to say third. I think @lgckeeho and @lgcnabi would rank above me, but I’d put myself right after them.” Hopefully that’ll show he’s attentive to the other trainees abilities, respectful on their hard work and skills, but also confident in his own.

“In each of the three categories—singing, dancing, and rapping—who would you want to face one-on-one with and why?”

Now this, Woobin needs to think about. He takes a moment to think, remembering the performances recently, and then the skills he’d witnessed of those he’d practised with over the years. Multiple people come to mind, all exceptionally talented, but he needs to pick people who he feels he can realistically hold his own against.

“For singing, @lgcwookjin. His performance was really strong and memorable. I know I’m not a bad singer myself, so I think I could hold my own against him.” While Woobin hadn’t trained with Wookjin, he’d seen enough to know he was good, really good. Maybe it would make more sense to pick people who weren’t good, so he’d be a shoe in for a win against them, but then wouldn’t that make him seem like he had little faith in his abilities?

“As for rapping, I’d have to say @lgcxmax. I know him pretty well from living in the same dorm, and I’d love to go up against him, plus he’d incredibly talented, so it’d be an honour to go head to head with him. I think my skills are on par with his though, so it’d be fun.” Max’s performance had stuck out in Woobin’s memory for a while afterwards, since he’d not gotten to practise with him in the past, all his knowledge of his skills came from living together.

“And for dancing... it’ll have to be @lgchyoseop. I know him better than pretty much all the other trainees, since he’s my cousin, so I know he’d be a worthy opponent to go up against.” He laughs a little, thinking about how in the single year he’d been a trainee Hyoseop seemed to have improved so much and how proud Woobin was (albeit silently—he wasn’t about to admit it to Hyoseop) of him. “I suppose dancing isn’t his strongest skill, but then it probably isn’t mine either. That way we could have fun with it!”

Once he’s given his answers he’s excused. As he heads back to training he wonders what the purpose of all that was—are they going to make them go head-to-head next time with the people they chose? If so... Woobin’s a little worried about his decisions. He’d intentionally picked people who he thought were better than he was, to try and show his confidence, but if he actually has to go up against them... he’s not sure he’ll come out on top.
