request; kind of from a friend? well, merry early christmas, guys! i probably won't be around when it actually comes, so.

tags; gn! reader, default! ithaqua, could be romantic or platonic (your choice & ambiguous), christmas🎄✨, soft, kind of fluff with maybe a small hint of angst, based off of a certain twisted wonderland quote.

summary; having known ithaqua for a while now, you decide to ask what he wants for christmas this year... what will he say?

“what do you want for christmas?” you sit on the wooden chair, taking small bites from a cake you had brought from the foothill town. “it’s almost that time.”

ithaqua at first insists it’s ‘nothing’, a front you can't help but chuckle at. “must i always read your feelings?” you tease, “you can’t keep them hidden away forever. nor am i psychic, for better or worse.”

“ah, fine, you just want me to come up with something?” ithaqua thinks to himself, his finger on his chin. you could practically see the gears turning in his head.

“well, you think about it. i’m going to wash the dishes. it's the least i can do for coming over somewhat uninvited.”

ithaqua smiled wryly. “...for better or worse, i'm used to it.”

some time later...

“i do have one christmas wish, i suppose.”

“took you long enough. so? what is it you wish for?”

“for you...” ithaqua averts his eyes. for a moment, you think you can see his cheeks flush a bit - was it the lighting of the fireplace crackling beside you two? “...to smile more this year. i guess.”

you widen your eyes; you weren’t sure what answer you were expecting, but that was not one of them. to top it off, you can feel something wrap around you.

ithaqua is hugging you from behind. an unexpected gesture, considering his general aversion to physical touch, but maybe if he initiated it it was within his comfort?

his hug is a little awkward, like he hadn't hugged since a time forgotten, but his arms are nonetheless warm.

“you’re not afraid of me, and i still haven’t figured out why. you’re a complete mystery that i can’t solve. yet, despite all that... i find i’m slowly becoming more afraid.”

“afraid?”

“afraid of losing you,” he whispers, his arms tightening slightly around you, “i don’t know why - and i don’t think i will know for the rest of my life.”

it was a veryyy fun ride tbh to be doing an immense brain rot about a Hunter Norton for years ! (imagine DT--) and turns out idv made it happen for us eventually 😭✨ now there's two of him ingame !

although I planned to draw them on the infernal sin and goetia's orphan attire , I was in a rush given how I was outdoors yesterday, and went with the casuals 🤸✨(damn timing aahhsha-)
