Solo Leveling Episode 8 Review - Build-up For Future Events
Solo Leveling is an anime filled with action sequences, so it feels rather unusual to see an episode that takes a step back from the fight scenes and be a bit more laid back as it’s a build-up for future events.
Tumblr media
In this episode, Jinwoo takes a step back from his quest to conquer the S-rank dungeon as he knows it’s suicide to go in as he is now. What he needs is to level up. The only possible way for him to do that is to accept Jinho’s offer of creating a guild. Now that he has taken the offer, he needs to wait until it is actually formed. Because of that, Jinwoo decides to do some minor raid dungeons with other, rather familiar hunters too. I’m also curious about Mr. Yoo, Jinho’s father. Just what is his ultimate goal with creating a guild? I feel like he’s going to be a villain?
I think the best part about this episode is that the episode finally pulls away from Jinwoo being the central focus and now focuses on other characters for the time beings—mainly the S-class Hunters. We have Cha Hae-in, who got scouted by Yoo Construction, but declined the offer; it turns out that Jinho’s father has made offers to other S-class heroes in hopes of having one as his guild master. The S-class hunters are reluctant as they have their own guilds and duties to attend to. Guildmaster Choi wants the S-class hunters to reject the offer. He’s also someone who likes to push his duties onto Baek Yoon-ho as the interview from a few episodes ago was supposed to be for Choi, but Yoon-ho was forced onto it instead. What I liked about this segment is that I get to see what sort of people these S-class hunters are. They seem like people with their fair share of burdens and sorrows that will be explored in the future.
Not only are the S-class hunters have focus, the hunters that went with Jinwoo in the first mission have returned. We have Song Jinchul who’s still missing an arm, but still kicking. We have Joohee who is traumatized from the double dungeon incident but still chooses to be a hunter despite her mother wanting her to stop. There’s Mr. Kim who has a family, but still persists on hunting. It’s really nice to see that these people still choose to be hunters because they want to. They feel bad for leaving Jinwoo behind, but they’re still trying their best to make amends. I do like that Joohee has gotten a hairstyle change like how Jinwoo did. I’m sort of worried what sort of things will happen next episode as Kang Tae-shik of the Hunters’ Association brought three criminal hunters to the raid under his supervision. What are you planning, you suspicious dude? I feel like there’s more to Tae-shik than meets the eye because his voice actor is Kouki Uchiyama. If your voice actor is that prominent, you know something will be cooking…
What will happen to Jinwoo in the next episode? What will he receive once this dungeon has been cleared? Will it be a progression for him to create the Elixir of Life? I can’t wait for this weekend! What are your thoughts on this episode?

Solo Leveling Volume 2 and Manwha differences + other facts p.4
*chapters 18-37 in manwha*
*from end of Lizards arc to the start of Job Change arc*
*Trigger Warning in the chapter B ranker Kang Tae Shik*
Index:
Things or facts not mentioned in the Manwha
Skipped scene
■ Added in the Manwha.
◇Change from the Manwha.
Tumblr media
EMERGENCY QUEST
“Jinwoo’s lengthy sigh carried many meanings. He took his hand off Hwang Dongseoks’ throat and looked at it. Although it was a one sided battle, his hands were shaking at the fact that he had just taken eight lives.”
Missing scene pages of Yoo Jinho dealing with Jinwoo’s massacre of the eight people. Jinho chose to give him everything that he won, do all the loot and thst he would not say anything about what happened here.
■ Jinchul scene was added in the manhwa.
In The LN Jinwoo was excited that he got away with 180 million won after he took all the magic crystals from the Lizards and Jinho.
More info on how much c rank cores costs and the tax rates. His numbers suddenly increased from 800,000 to a whooping 180,300,000 won. He got 180 million from selling the magic cores and 500k were sent to the landlord for rent.
ARRANGEMENT
So um in the chapter where Jin Ah was eating chicken, apparently S. koreans eat chicken wings when they celebrate events or special occasions, this time Jinwoo had like a huge lottery money win so he gave Jinah some chicken wings.
DEAL
The LN, of course, adds a lot more novelty to Jinwoo’s expressions as there are quite a lot of thoughts that pass through Jinwoos mind, and in the manhwa some are shown through expressions while others are like, thoughts among thoughts. It's probably why the first season seemed better because the webtoon didn't cut much of these conversations or added a short version of it as the webtoons flowed.
Yoo Jin Ho is a college student.
◇ There was another change of scene with Jinwoo  going back home to do his daily workout and finding out that he had run more than what the quest needed. In the manhwa they had him talk with Jin Ah about the 30 million won but this never appeared in the light novel.
THE DEMON CASTLE
Unlike the instant dungeon keys, the Demon Castle Key was a key that he could enter and exit as he pleased.
Some small cut out scene of a night guard watching Jinwoo disappear in front of the Daesung Tower and becoming very surprised.
Cerberus is the first beast that Jinwoo has fought that uses a debuff skill.
■ The manhwa added a lot of Jinwoo’s dialogue with cerberus so in the LN it was way less dramatic. All the inner monologues of “ I will swallow him whole, become the best, hunt more beasts, fear will never make you stronger, i will level up!” were all part of the manhwa.
Jinwoo sold the molars of Cerberus each for 150 thousand pieces of gold.
COINCIDENCE
Small skipped scene:
I should’ve gone to see you myself, but those bastards at the Association, I don’t  know what they were thinking, putting a moratorium on the incident, and I had no  way of reaching you. I believe Ms. Juhee was also dying to hear about you.”     “Juhee-ssi?”
“Yep. She said she would retire, but still went to last week’s Raid to catch a glimpse  of you.”
“Last week…?”     Hearing Song-ssi ahjussi’s explanation, Jinwoo learned that the day he went on a  Raid with Hwang Dongseok’s team was also the day an Association Raid had taken  place.     ‘No wonder the Association’s been quiet.’     It wasn’t that they weren’t contacting him, but rather,he had missed them on that  one day. A small mystery cleared up for Jinwoo.
◇ Song Chi Yul met Jinwoo at the shopping market while he was out buying food. It is explained that at the time  Jinwoo was in the raid with the lizards, Chi Yul had gone to another raid by the association where Juhee had been there in order to take one last peek to Jinwoo and how he was doing.
While walking Song Chiyeol noticed Jinwoo's footsteps had become light and had a difficulty in detecting the mans’ presence.
◇ Mr Song had a phone call from the association about another gate, and wasn't going to tell Jinwoo but Jinwoo still heard it and was like, oh can I come too? and Mr Song couldn't say no.
Apparently Jinwoo often had a fear of answering his phone calls and once tried to turn it off but couldn't because if you did not respond three times to a gate then it would result in expulsion. Now when he thinks about that he just smiles bittersweetly.
Mr song said two of the surviving hunters chose to retire due to trauma. With Juhee being one of them.
◇ Other cut scene of Kim Sangshik and Juhee changed from the manhwa:
The man closed his mouth and walked away.
From a distance away, he looked at  Jinwoo and tilted his head.    ‘Is that human really the Sung Jinwoo that I knew? His eyes were fierce like a magic  beast’s…’     Kim Sangshik’s body shuddered. His arms were covered in goosebumps. It was not  his fault, Jinwoo had lightly applied a killing intent in his gaze. Thankfully, the man  had taken the hint and avoided him. Jinwoo had hoped he would continue to do so  going forward.
“Sung-ssi,”     Song Chiyeol, who was standing next to Jinwoo, suddenly smiled.     “There she comes.”     Jinwoo started turning his head towards where the elder was gesturing, but before he  fully could‒
“Jinwoo-ssi!”     Something soft hugged him tightly.     “Juhee-ssi?”     As Jinwoo panicked, Juhee examined his body with tears in her eyes.
■ In chapter 27 of the manhwa there is a scene of the S rank sparring student of Song Chi Yul which was not presented in the LN or even in Mr Song Chiyuls fight(ill get to that)
■ The talk of the father sending Kang Tae Shik to kill the murderers of his daughter was also put earlier in the manhwa instead of during the mid fight with Jinwoo like it was in the LN.
Cut: “Let’s go.”     Jinwoo and Juhee also stood before the Gate. Remembering her last trip into a  Dungeon, Juhee lightly held on to Jinwoo’s sleeves as they entered. {My heart 😭}
So it's also stated that before Jinwoo awakened he was already able to kill goblins one by one so he didn't have a problem with them (cue goblin jinwoo lmao).
◇ So another change, In the Ln Kang Tae Shik had acted as though he was dying when Mr song, Juhee and Jinwoo came to the scene, he planned to kill Juhee first while she was healing him but Jinwoo stopped him with his dagger.
■ Because of this, the amazing, wonderful, hella cool, in my opinion, epic fight scene between Mr Song and Johee against Kand Tae Shik never happened (god i hope the anime doesn't take this out, seriously the manhwa also had good freaking scenes.)
■The apology of Mr Kim to Jinwoo and his small little backstory was also added in the manhwa.
B RANKER KANG TAE SHIK
*TW*
■ The start of chapter 30 in the manhwa, where Kang Tae Shik talks to the prisoners about being killed by goblins was also added on by the Manhwa. (And that scene hits so much harder with Solo Leveling Ragnarok when they introduce Kang Tae Shiks backstory. Whereas Solo Leveling Arise the game, and his new backstory for Kang Tae Shik in the dossiers seems more fitting for the KTS in the LN. like you can see the differences between LN and Game KTS as opposed to Manhwa and SLRagnarok KTS. In the LN and Game: He is just a cold ruthless killer, and doesn't really care about who he kills, he also isn't talkative with Jinwoo, like at all.  Manhwa KTS has this villain ambiguous vibe, he monologues a shit ton to the point where the mahwa jinwoo points it out, hilarious, but still more on the same path of killing people for doing so. LN and Manhwa both admit that they want to kill those prisoners after what their crimes were. And then there is SLRagnarok KTS, SPOILERS who is just my favorite, both for the backstory and the morally ambiguous vibes that truly don't make him a villain but also not a good person either. He has this possibility of also being like Jinwoo in terms of moral ambiguity at least partially bc of things that happened but he wasn't a born serial killer like in the dossiers of the game. Its kinda cool honestly how you can get different stories of him but like, it's still the same character and none are too out of left field. Can't say more due to spoilers Anyways, KTS lore is finally explored lmao.)
Trigger Warning : so while in the manhwa it was implied that one of the hunters did something horrible to a daughter, In the Ln they explicitly stated that she was r*ped. That r*pist was the same person that winked at juhee, i thought i'd let yall know. Also he had more than one victim.
• Funny dialogue cut lmao: All the traces detectable by the normal senses of a human being would be erased, that  was ‘Stealth’. Even among the Assassin-class Hunters, only a handful of them could use ‘Stealth’. Regardless of their rank, only the lucky ones received this skill at their  Awakening.
‘Surprise, bitch!’  Kang Taeshik moved behind the E-ranker in an instant. His back was completely  exposed.
■ Jinwoo didn't use the daily quest recovery in the fight, nor did he get help from Juhee. she did a small cut that Jinwoo had gotten, and as the Ln says, he got out without any major injuries, like at all from the fight.
■ The bloodlust also doesn't do anything to him. Like that whole ass thing where the bloodlust skill supposedly kills his emotions more and more isn't in the LN at all and was  SAY IT WITH ME NOW added in the manhwa.
◇ Kang Tae shiks last words to jinwoo was who the prisoner was that did the bad deed and that he tied him up to torture him at the end. Jinwoo didn't ask him any of those questions at the end of how strong he will get and KTS saying he will be as strong as his shadow. Like all, part of the manhwa.
Cut scene: Jinwoo grimaced at the message. Like before, killing a human being left a bitter taste  in his mouth, even if the opponent had instigated it. If not for the reward, this affair  would’ve been a red in his ledger. Jinwoo tried to comfort himself with that thought  and checked the reward.
— short notice on Jinwoos thoughts, he is still not doing fine. And I'm glad at least the LN didn't immediately swat it away like the manhwa. Honestly i think they both have different ways of showing Jinwoo's trail of thoughts and emotions as he got stronger and had to kill more people but anyways this chap was dark.
From Ln: It was unusual for hobgoblins to make a nest at the boss room like just now. It truly  was impossible to predict what could happen in a Dungeon. One person’s luck just  might be a disaster for others.
Cut scene of Jinwoo testing the extent of his Stealth skill:
Tumblr media
■ Woo Jin Chul did not appear at the scene after hearing Kang Taeshik had been killed. No one also warned Jinwoo about Hwang Dongsoo because he wasn't mentioned at all until much later. And he also wasn't planning on going to S. Korea at any time.
COGWHEELS
Jinwoo got his new phone and is a troll, read the translator's notes.
Tumblr media
When Jinwoo got his phone back he saw the two contacts messaging him, Choi Noora and Yoo Jinho. He immediately blocked the nurse (Choi Noora. Lmao).
Yoo Jinho might like Kpop? It's just an assumption since he has a new loud pop song as his ringtone. Cute.
Alright another change. We hear about Hwang Dongsoo after the events of the prisoners and assassins arc.
From Ln:
Hwang Dongseok was  an older brother who took care of him more than anyone else in life. He could not be  called a good man, but he was a good brother.    ‘Once I solidified my position here, I was going to bring him over…’    To think that he would die before he could. Hwang Dongsoo bit his lips.
SU huhhhhhhhhhhhh so um apparently Hwang dong soo cared about his brother, meanwhile the dossiers say their relationship was skewed. So i went back to look at the lizards arc if anything was said about Hwang Dong Sook and apparently the part where Hwang Dong Suk was jealous of the S rank brother and wanted to earn all those crystals was added in the manhwa, and the dossiers wanted to back that up saying that both brothers didn't care for each other, one was jealous the other was an S rank, the S rank was always jealous because he felt like he had been in his brothers shadow. so to an extent, Hwang Srank did seem to care about the older brother, so far as trying to bring him to America as soon as he got settled there too. Sl ragnarok also takes the game's backstory by having both of them get angre at each other.
◇ Laura didn't come to Hwang dong soo, instead he called her,
It's stated that Laura is the Manager of the guild. so that's a plus in affirming where she stands in the guilds position.
BIZARRE RAIDS
Yoo Jinho talked with Jinwoo over the phone about the team being set up and finished.
Jinho kinda also said to have arrived in a bongo, if you are looking for the specific word of the vehicle.
■ Song Yi and her talk about being a fleshed out hunter was added in the manhwa
◇ The dialogue in the chapters were changed here and there but overall it's the same vibe of the hunters getting shocked to see Jinwoo and Jinho clearing the gates.
■ In the manhwa it was added that one of the hunters knew Jinwoo being the weakest E rank.
This time the manhwa was the one to cut scenes of day one Jinwoo learning his new skills while he killed zombies and also learning that he can give people the mana and healing potions as long as they dont touch the stuff and only drink it.
Tumblr media
Sus four lines.
Then there was another scene of Jinho giving the magic core/essence stone income [600 million] to Jinwoo for the last two days of raiding. On day 3.
Cut scene here:
“You’re giving all the income from the magic cores so far to me?”   Yoo Jinho nodded.
“Of course, hyungnim. It’s not like I’m raiding because I need the money. More than  that, you’re the one who’s really killing all the magic beasts, right? What right do I  have to even think about sharing such income?”
The young man’s eyes sparkled, hoping for some praise.
‘Oy… Look at this kid…’    In the past few days, Jinwoo had felt like Yoo Jinho’s attitude towards him was  changing.
In the beginning, the young man had followed him with no choice out of  fear. Now, it felt like he was a little dongsaeng that truly respected his sunbae.     ‘You know, he’s kind of adorable in that sense.’
Some scenes of dialogue of the hunters as they wait for Jinwoo.
Tumblr media
◇ Ahn Sangmin knew at the beginning that Jinwoo might be a reawakened hunter.
THE PREMONITION OF SUCCESS
Added info: apparently an A rank hunter can clear a C rank gate in two hours… Jinwoo was clearing the C rank gates in 30 minutes. This probably means he was at this point strong enough to pass as an S rank even before the Job change quest… goddamn.
Cut scene:
Yoo Jinho skillfully turned the handle around a curve while answering.    “Let’s go to Mirae Mall.”
“Mirae Mall?”    Yoo Jinho was surprised.
“Yes.”
“Well it is right ahead… You know, you’ve been acting weird all day, hyungnim. Are  you sure everything’s alright?”
“...You know, you’ve been getting rather talkative these days.”    And with that, Yoo Jinho’s face became fixed on the road.
“I will take you there with the speed of light, hyungnim. Hold onto your belt!”    Changing his attitude in a flash, Yoo Jinho drove the car without braking.
They soon  arrived at Mirae Mall.    Screech— The car stopped at their destination. As a mall at the heart of Seoul, Mirae Mall was  quite a spectacle. Jinwoo got out of the car, and Yoo Jinho followed. The young man  closed the door and walked up to Jinwoo’s side.
“Hyungnim, someday, our Guild should use a building like this for our  headquarters.”    Yoo Jinho looked up and down at the mall and made a half-serious joke. But no one  replied. Noticing something was off, Yoo Jinho quickly turned toward where Jinwoo  was.    “What?”    Jinwoo had disappeared.    “Hyungnim?”    No matter where he looked, Jinwoo was gone.    “Hyungniiiim?”
* * *
As the boss was defeated, the Dungeon will return to its  normal interior.    ‘Two more levels from the mall’s Instant Dungeon.’
— Skipped scene and apperantly Jinwoo had more keys given.
◇ Ok so chapter 36 on the manhwa, Anh Sang Ming goes to meet jinwoo at the gate, while in the LN someone has been watching Jinwoo from afar and then after he has finished another instant dungeon, he gets a call from mr Ahn saying he wants to meet him.
◇ They both arrive to a near empty cafe, the manhwa kinda had it with more people.
Past the discussion with ahn sangmin which was wayyy too long than i expected, mostly due to all the dialogue focused on the feelings of each other, Jinho being called in the middle of the meeting, Ahn then talking to his assistant while remembering Jinwoo's threat, and some small changes here and there that just were taken out to make the dialogue fit in one chapter (37 in the manhwa) and less, Jinwoo THEN has another skipped scene of seeing his stats risen and gaining 12 levels by just going to 9 raids. At the end of the chapter Jinah tells him about the parent teacher conference that Jinwoo had to go through and also remembers fighting the sand centipede monsters, likely to allude to what will come next.
CLASS ADVANCEMENT QUEST
The assistant of Ahn Sang min, Hyun Gicheol, actually waited in the morning to give Jinwoo some handmade vegetable juice. likely it was for a trade deal but jinwoo still felt happy to receive the tumbler. He gives the tumbler back at the end of the chapter when he meets them again.
Cut scene an allude to Jinwoo finding a serial killer later in the novel once his shadows went on patrol:
“I parked it way over there, hyungnim.”
“Why?”
“Haven’t there been reports of a serial killer in this area? I’m not from around here,  so people were looking at me strangely.”
Jinwoo nodded, understanding. It was an incident making its round in the news. The  victims were mostly young women. They said there were already two murders just  this month. Of course, if people saw a strange Bongo parked at the entrance of the  apartment… It made sense the neighbors would be suspicious.
Cut out scene of Jinwoo finally meeting the prer requisite level in the dungeon of the lizardmen
Cut scene of Jinwoo caring about jinho by cleaning him up from the ashes of the dungeon and trying to be cautious by not accepting the advancement quest right away and telling jinho he will be finishing up today while jinho cancels the remaining gates.
◇ So the whole canceling and giving 3 c rank gates to baekho was changed in that time, jinwoo gave chief ahn the gates after he got the job advancement quest and chief ahn was being lectured by Baek Yoon ho, which i think THIS part might have appeared in the new anime trailer to have come out lmao. also i think the manwha changed it so he could have his cool moment in the Red gate arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also Jinwoo doesn't like coffee or at least he prefers more can bottles with sweetness than espresso.
{You see its funny cuz a strong headcanon is the fact that jinchul drinks too much coffee, and it's canon that he is a lightweight with alcohol, whereas jinwoo is the opposite of those two uwu will shut up now but lmao cuah cool contrasts of friends}
Cut info of Jinwoo looking through his phone about various video game wikis in classes.
Cut thoughts too:
If he thought about it, whether he entered using a key or through a Gate, a Dungeon  would be waiting on the other side. He was just surprised at the creation of an  artificial Gate in front of his eyes. While he had entered many Gates before, he had  never seen one being created. When he reached that line of thought, an idea appeared  in his head–    ‘Wait… Could other Hunters enter this Gate?’    Well, there was no time to experiment. There weren’t any other Hunters in the  vicinity, nor did he know of any Hunters that would come running if... He... Called….    Jinwoo erased Yoo Jinho’s face from his mind and shook his head.    ‘What would I do if something went wrong?’
Here are the translators of the series btw

Thinking about this Maze Runner AU and I'm thinking about extending it (and change a few things, as well as following the original series), maybe?
Of course, Sung Jin-woo obviously is in Thomas' place as the main character and the person (Greenie) who showed up in The Box. He's incredibly confused and freaks out the moment he sees a person. He then remembers his name, which shocks the guys around him since usually, a Glader won't remember one's name within a daylight. Everyone becomes suspicious of him, yet a kind Glader named Yoo Jin-ho shows him around and teaches Jin-woo about the ways in the Glade and how he must survive.
Hwang Dong-suk (Ben) attacks Jin-woo after he had been stung by a Griever during his run in the Maze. He chases Jin-woo until they're in the center of the Glade where the Gladers find the chaos and rush to stop Hwang Dong-suk. Lim Tae-gyu soon comes to a decision to banish Hwang Dong-suk, though Hwang Dong-soo (bear in mind that nobody else here remembers their memories so we can say Dong-soo and Dong-suk are friends, not knowing they are brothers), disapproves it and argues that Jin-woo is the one who must be punished. Lim Tae-gyu has to uphold his role as a leader in this and threatens to slit his throat when it's clear that Hwang Dong-suk is no longer human; this can spice things up as Dong-soo holds a burning grudge against Jin-woo and his future actions will eventually lead him to his death by the time the Gladers have escaped the Maze.
In the fic, Cha Hae-in came before Jin-woo, but if we're gonna follow what happened in the original story, then Cha Hae-in would come a day after Jin-woo. Then again, the Glade is shook and everyone believes W.I.C.K.E.D is fooling them and disrupting their peace. In the book, Teresa and Thomas were telepathic and had formed a bond while in the Slammer, realizing they have known each other before The Maze; I'm thinking about inserting this plot-point on Jin-woo and Hae-in. They'll share telepathy! And in the movie, which is on the funny side, Cha Hae-in chooses violence and starts throwing rocks at everyone from the top of the Homestead; Jin-woo has to be the one who calms her down and gently takes the knife Jin-ho has likely given her. And like Jin-woo, Hae-in has fragments of her memories and has brought along two syringes in her pocket, which came in handy when Lim Tae-gyu gets stung later in the story when the Grievers wrecked the Glade.
Roles:
First-in-command (Leader) — Lim Tae-gyu
Second-in-command — Choi Jong-in
Runners — Lim Tae-gyu, Cha Hae-in, & Sung Jin-woo [Hwang Dong-suk, former]
Builders — Baek Yoon-ho & Hwang Dong-soo
Cook — Yoo Jin-ho
Med-jack — Min Byung-gyu
Track-hoe — Yoo Jin-ho
Blood-houser — Kang Tae-shik
Gardeners — Yoo Jin-ho & Cha Hae-in
Slopper — Sung Jin-woo
Bricknick — Hwang Dong-soo
Bagger — Go Kyuh-wan
Map-makers — Choi Jong-in & Lim Tae-gyu
As for Group B, I'd say it includes the rest of the female characters in Solo Leveling. Park Hee-jin will be the first-in-command of the group while Eun-seok will likely be in Aris' place.
In hindsight, Woo Jin-chul was supposed to be part of W.I.C.K.E.D, but I decided against it and made him part of the Right Arm, which will probably make sense since they're the good guys™ and Song Chi-yul will be the leader. Go Gun-hee will be the one who's part of W.I.C.K.E.D and his role is the good version of A.D. Janson. But the actual A.D. Janson still exists.
Other thoughts:
— Teresa is labeled as a Traitor, right? And who's in her place? CHA HAE-IN. However, this can be debatable since the two female characters are different, but. . . What if? What if Cha Hae-in did it for the sake of her friends? What if she was manipulated into thinking it was for the better good? What if all she wanted was to get her memories back? What if she got threatened that Jin-woo would be dead if she won't betray him?
— what if Jin-ah is alive all along?
— what if Min Byung-gyu is not an immune?
— Sung Il-hwan is alive too. He's part of the Right Arm, though he's not revealing himself to Jin-woo. Kyung-hye is the one who died and Jin-ah became an experiment or an employee in W.I.C.K.E.D whom Hae-in later met.
— if we push through Hae-in becoming the "traitor" then Jin-woo will resent and hate her and Hae-in won't apologize for doing what she thought was right. JINHAE ANGST!
— Tae-gyu and Yoon-ho are the ones who use Glader slangs the most.
— Jin-woo treating Jin-ho like a brother; similarly to how he should've treated Jin-ah if he remembers her.
— Cha Hae-in is the one who solved the Maze.
— Choi Jong-in and Baek Yoon-ho tend to argue a lot. This plotline will never change.
— Eun-seok remembers Byung-gyu, though he's hesitant of telling the truth, thinking Byung-gyu might not believe that he was his childhood friend whom he got separated from due to The Flare.
— before their memories being wiped out, young Yoon-ho, Jong-in, Tae-gyu, Byung-gyu became friends with Hae-in and Jin-woo. The six of them would often sneak out.
— young!Yoon-ho being heavily traumatized as young!Minho in The Fever Code and that includes fighting the nurses and getting tied to a chair where a Griever almost kills him, sent by a scientist for his attempts of escaping.
— Lee Ju-hee having a telepathic link to Eun-seok, Jin-woo, and Hae-in too, which she hasn't realized until the four of them are gathered into one place. That's when her memories flush in. She's also the only one (besides Eun-seok, though he needed some time to understand) who doesn't resent Cha Hae-in.
— Lee Ju-hee secretly leaves the group in the middle of the night to join W.I.C.K.E.D in hopes to develop a cure. She may or may not left a note.

Save the Green Planet! (2003)
Tumblr media
I’m not going to say that someone other than the director of Save the Green Planet! should re-edit the film… but if a power outage suddenly cuts the picture 10 minutes before the end, you’ll be much more satisfied than you would if you had seen the whole thing. It’s on the cusp of being great until the conclusion undoes so much of what came before.
Byeong-gu (Shin Ha-kyun) believes pharmaceutical executive Kang Man-shik (Baek Yoon-sik) is an alien. With the help of his girlfriend (Hwang Jeong-min), Byeong-gu kidnaps him. Trapped in an underground bunker by a madman, Kang is about to be subjected to all sorts of painful procedures unless he admits “the truth”.
Writer/director Jang Joon-hwan plays the audience like a violin. He lets hope leak in through a crack and then plugs it up the moment you become convinced Kang might escape. It's a nightmare. Kang might not be the nicest person but when you see what Byeong-gu has planned for him, all of your misgivings about the businessman evaporate. The thing is, Byeong-gu is at the level of crazy that fills you with uncertainty. Maybe he’s off his rocker enough that if Kang plays into his fantasies, he’ll manage to talk himself free - perhaps by using the man’s sickly mother as a resource. Failing this, maybe Su-ni - who’s nutty herself but isn’t the ringleader in this affair - can be convinced to help her captive before it’s too late. Finally, there’s the possibility of Kang simply escaping on his own. Whatever happens, it better be soon. One look at Byeong-gu’s litteral tin-foil hat and you know the upcoming eclipse will mean this thing will come to an end one way or another.
Adding to the intrigue are a pair of detectives investigating the kidnapping. Every minute that passes feels like a hammer dropped from the ceiling. It’s only a matter of time. Someone’s going to slip up. There are simply too many things that could go wrong in this loony operation for it not to go wrong. What’s it going to be? You don’t know. When you think you’ve got it figured out, the movie pulls the rug from under you and things go from bad… to worse. You feel like you’re in that underground dungeon too, trying to figure out what you could do, what you could say to escape. I mean to allow Kang to escape. If not for him, for the others potential victims. The movie’s proven that Lee’s search for extraterrestrials is a fool’s errand. He almost gets you at one point because he’s so convinced of his mission but when you hear what the “real” history of earth is… none of it makes sense.
Tumblr media
Then, at the end of the movie, we get a twist. Not only are the aliens real, Kang was an alien the whole time. Their king, in fact. If this film had been played a bit differently, the message might’ve been that it isn’t enough for you to be right; you also have to know how to convince others of the truth. Instead, what are we supposed to think? That it’s ok to torture and murder any number of people… as long as it’s for the right reason? Nothing the movie does will make you sympathize for Byeong-gu. He’s evil. Same for his girlfriend. AT BEST, she's merely complicit. When they get taken out, you cheer. Oh, but you’re not supposed to. His failure means Kang can blows up the planet and kill BILLIONS. To add insult to injury, the film takes the time to make you understand that Byeong-gu is a person, that he didn’t start off crazy and was driven to madness by circumstances. We see him at his worst, but the film concludes with a montage of him at his best. He had parents who loved him, he loved his dog, and his girlfriend too. So what? All the people he murdered were people too. What about them?
Tumblr media
Although Save the Green Planet! ends on a foul note, the rest is so compelling it'd be a shame to dismiss it. While watching, you’ll be gripped in its claws and loving it. The film is terrifying and intense. You’ll be drenched with sweat and won’t want to miss a minute as the characters carefully circle each other, trying to figure out what move to make next. A remake is reportedly in the works. Let's hope it rights the mistakes Save the Green Planet! makes. (Original Korean with English subtitles, January 22, 2021)

He is often highlighted as a rival with his contemporaneous figure, Jeong Ji-sang. This is because Jeong Ji-sang, who is evaluated as a representative figure of a writer in the Goryeo Dynasty in the contemporary Korean literature world, and Kim Bu-sik also compiled and holds an important position in the historical academia. Unlike Jeong Ji-sang, who showed outstanding talent in poetry, Kim Pu-sik was a writer who was good at classical writing in the Tang and Song era, which was starting to be popular at the time, rather than poetry. Around that time, in Goryeo, ancient texts were placed instead of Saryukbyonryeoche, which had been popular. It is often mentioned in a sentence that Kim Bu-sik was jealous of an outstanding Jeong Ji-sang, but in fact, there is a complicated inner story. First of all, Jeong Ji-sang and Kim Bu-sik are not the same age, but there is a big age difference. Since there is no exact year of birth and death of Jeong Ji-sang, the exact age difference is unknown, but there is a difference of 18 years between the times when he passed the exam in the past. However, Jeong Ji-sang was promoted at high speed and was already in a position to make a loud voice in the courtroom just 10 years after passing the state examination, so it is presumed that either Jeong Ji-sang's skills were outstanding or he benefited from a music book. In the mid-1120s, when Jeong Ji-sang was making his voice at the court, Pu-shik Kim was a senior official who had been in government for over 30 years, and he was in his 50s.
Later, when the Myocheong Rebellion broke out, Kim Bu-sik first caught and killed Jeong Ji-sang, but eventually the relationship between the two ended when Jeong Ji-sang was killed. Jeong Ji-sang was a member of the Seogyeong faction, so there was a clear connection with Myocheong. Therefore, the fact that Kim Bu-shik, who was in charge of subjugating Myocheong, slashed the necks of the Seogyeong faction Jeong Ji-sang, Baek Su-han, and Kim An, who were in Gaegyeong, was due to the political intention of the Donggyeong faction to remove the Seogyeong faction, saying, "This is an opportunity."[39] This was also the end of the conflict between Goguryeo successionism and Silla successionism, which had existed since the founding of Goryeo. In other words, at first, the Goguryeo successor faction took the lead until the time when King Yejong pioneered the 9 northeastern provinces through Yoon Gwan and others, but when Lee Ja-gyeom, his maternal relative, gained power and accepted the Sadae in the Jin Dynasty, the Silla successor faction was heavily used in the government. However, while Seogyeong faction Jeong Ji-sang and others mobilized Cheok Jun-gyeong and others to eliminate Lee Ja-gyeom, they also suppressed the Donggyeong faction that cooperated with Lee Ja-gyeom. came out However, Kim Bu-shik suppressed it, and as a result, the Seo Kyung-pa was completely destroyed.
According to the Yasa , one day after Kim Bu-shik killed Jung Ji-sang, he was sitting on his back in the backyard watching a big event. When asked, "Whose balls are these?", Kim Bu-sik, who was in a cold sweat for fear of bursting his cheeks, burst into a hush at the harassment and said, "This is your father's balls. Your father!" .
Also, in the Baekwoon Novel, when Kim Bu-sik composes a poem, the ghost of Jung Ji-sang appears and laughs at him, saying, “You can only write that, you idiot,” and presents a better phrase to throw Kim Pu-shik away. To put it in detail, one day after Jeong Ji-sang's death, Kim Pu-sik wrote the following poem on the theme of 'Spring'.

The Chase. (Movie). 9
Story: 9
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
This is a great action crime / mystery drama plain and simple. Great cast, great storyline, great acting. For me personally I think it’s an underrated film with a terrible poster and synopsis, especially the one they use on Netflix. I almost totally passed this one up.
