Who's the most popular RO so far, from what you could observe?
According to the number of asks, it's R and K.
But R is rather infamous. Although well deserved, I don't think that's going to change: R will be a huge disappointment to readers who think they'll be able to fix them, or any other RO for that matter.
I just hope I'll be prepared for that. Thank you for your question!

round up // MAY 24
Tumblr media
Who cares what the calendar says? Ryan Gosling has declared summer is officially here!
Between longevity of the “Beavis and Butt-Head” Saturday Night Live sketch I shared last month, his extremely fun red carpet appearances, and the wonderfully fun The Fall Guy,  he’s been everywhere, and I have no complaints about it.
But The Fall Guy and the other new releases in this Round Up aren’t the last summer movies to look forward to. I stopped by KMOV to preview some of the movies I’m most excited for this summer, including a star-studded rom-com set in the ‘60s, a legacy sequel action spectacular, a mystery starring a recent Best Actress nominee, and a prequel for a genre I rarely like. Let’s take on the summer as Ryan Gosling commands in The Fall Guy: “Jean-Claude, attaqué!”
May Crowd-Pleasers
Tumblr media
1. The Fall Guy (2024)
Most movies go to great pains to hide their seams, but not The Fall Guy. And who needs to when a behind-the-seams look can be so fun? Summer 2024 is starting off with a bang because it’s a blast both as an action-adventure and as a romantic comedy, making it one of the easiest movies to recommend to just about anyone. Read my full review for ZekeFilm or watch out my review for KMOV. Crowd: 10/10 // Critic: 8/10
youtube
2. John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA (2024)
It’s not hyperbole to say I adored this weird and wonderful talk show experiment. Experts on palm trees and coyotes did most of the talking, Bill Hader and Pete Davidson couldn’t stop giggling, and John Mulaney kept asking about what kinds of cars people drive. Only a handful of clips have been added online from this live six-episode series…
"The Map of Los Angeles"
"Reverse Borat"
"Oh, Hello Manson Tour"
"Nepo Babies"
…but if Mulaney ever decides to resurrect his late night format of taking calls, discussing non-urgent topics, and creating sketch comedy with his friends and seismologists, I’d watch it every night.
Tumblr media
3. IF (2024)
Not everything about the logic of IF hangs together, but one of the beauties of an original world is not being encumbered by mythology and continuity. IF is about dreaming big, and it’s for kids and families who want to be dazzled by a story imaginative in every sense of the word. Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8/10
youtube
4. SNL Round Up
That’s a wrap on season 49! These sketches will be holding me over till the Saturday Night Live’s golden jubilee begins in the fall:
“Teeny Tiny Statement Pin” (4618 with Dua Lipa)
“OBGYN” (4618)
“Hot Ones with Beyoncé 2” (4619 with Maya Rudolph)
“Weekend Update: A Woman Who Insists She's Not Mad” (4619)
“Monologue” (4620 with Jake Gyllenhaal)
“Dad Has a Cookie” (4620)
“Fast Fashion Ad” (4620)
“NYPD Press Conference” (4620)
And if you're still laughing at "Beavis and Butt-Head" from Ryan Gosling's episode last month, don't miss these behind-the-scenes articles about the viral fave:
“Heidi Gardner Couldn’t Prepare for What She Saw,” Vulture.com (2024)
“Ryan Gosling’s Viral Beavis and Butt-Head Skit Was 5 Years in the Making,” gizmodo.com (2024)
Tumblr media
5. Zillow Gone Wild (2024-)
@ZillowGoneWild has been one of my best Instagram follows for years, so you know I’m all in on the HGTV series. Can you live inside a former missile silo? Did you know a real-life house inspired the dwarfs’ cottage in Snow White? How would you renovate a 17,000 square-foot church to make it a home? Host Jack McBrayer is stopping by the craziest Zillow listings (and more than once in my hometown of St. Louis), which you can imagine inspires hilarious commentary along the way.
MORE MAY CROWD-PLEASERS // Olivia Rodrigo’s bonus tracks on GUTS (spilled) (2024) are five more album-worthy pop-punk bangers and folksy bops // Even though I find puppets unsettling, the Prime rom-com Música (2024) is proof Camila Mendes has the “it” factor and writer/actor/director/musician Rudy Mancuso should direct a full-blown musical // Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) is the least successful of the modern Apes franchise, but I’m still in on this dystopian adventure world // It’s a shame Rutherford Falls (2021-22) was cancelled just as it was finding its groove in Mike Schur’s canon with its big ideas like The Good Place, its small town cast of characters like Parks and Recreation, and its problematic lead like The Office // Angela Lansbury time travels to the Antebellum South in a mystery with thorny issues still relevant today in Murder, She Wrote: The Last Free Man (2001)
May Critic Picks
Tumblr media
1. The Way We Were (1973)
After a longer-than-planned hiatus, SO IT’S A SHOW? has returned! We’re breaking our typical mold in our seventh and final season (much like the seventh season of Gilmore Girls—IYKYK), and after a quick catch up in ep. 137 (though not without plenty of discussion of what the Palladinos are working on right now and a new Gilmore children’s book), we dig into our newest pop culture reference. In ep. 138, we’re discussing the the ‘70s weepy The Way We Were, which features a Palladino-esque heroine, Robert Redford in a cable knit sweater, heartache, laugher, and Communism all in one neat package! We discuss the cultural changes in parenting since then, why the Gilmores reference this movie several times in the series, and yes, Robert Redford in that cable knit sweater. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 8.5/10
Tumblr media
2. Persuasion by Jane Austen (1817)
Jane Austen—you ever heard of her? She’s pretty good! Though it always takes me a minute to get into the rhythm of her writing, her characters and plotting never disappoint. This romantic comedy focuses on lovers separated by society reuniting almost a decade later, and as always, their story is funny and swoon-worthy.
Tumblr media
3. Audrey Hepburn in Paris by Meghan Friedlander (2024)
I have admired Audrey Hepburn as a performer, fashion icon, work-life balance enthusiast, and humanitarian since I was 15, and the creator of Rare Audrey Hepburn has captured the beauty of each of those roles in her first book. With a journalistic attention to detail, Meghan Friedlander reports on the sets, theaters, and fashion houses Hepburn graced during her frequent visits to France. This book is both a unique biography and a gorgeous coffee table book that fans of Hepburn, fashion, and film history won’t want to miss.
Tumblr media
4. Thelma & Louise (1991)
Kyla and I also chatted about the crime classic Thelma & Louise on SO IT’S A SHOW?. What does this movie have to say about female friendships? What did we think of THAT ending? And is Rory totally a Thelma? We discuss that and more in ep. 139. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8.5/10

Just caught up on the Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka match. What a banger(!!!) but I am so heartbroken for Naomi. To be 5-3 up with advantage on the third set and then lose it. Testament to how well Iga's able to fight but DAMN. It's good seeing Naomi playing well again though 🥰
Also TIL that Naomi had been the one to encourage Iga not to give up on tennis... and this is what happens 😂

12 years ago, you were 15 and stood on stage with a nervous smile, excited to perform your debut song.
Critics labeled that move as "stupid," making predictions on how a soloist from a third-rate company can never survive the industry. Yet, against all odds, you won at a music show pretty early in your career.
This opened the door to success. You were able to release albums, hits after hits, won at music and award shows, filmed videos, tours around the world, and even modeling. When you decided to dwell into acting, no one was surprised.
Even when you find it hard to release any content, millions of fans are still there eagerly waiting for you. When did it become so hard? waking up has become a struggle, your manager is back to scolding you like you were some rookie, and your fans are beginning to get worried for you. It doesn't help you're still reeling from being linked to a scanda that shocked the nation. Becoming an idol was once your childhood dream, where did it all go wrong?
Tumblr media
⊹₊⋆ play as a tired and depressed K-pop idol-actor on their 12th year in the industry.
⊹₊⋆ choose your appearance, personality, background, and gender preference. you also have to specify if you are known for your singing, dancing, rapping, or acting skills and what type of music you release.
⊹₊⋆ release your last song or last drama (or both depending on your choices!)
⊹₊⋆ spend time with 4 unique people in the industry and get a chance to either befriend them or romance them.
⊹₊⋆ navigate through the fall out of your career after a scandal that shocked the nation.
⊹₊⋆ continue to shine like a star or explode like one while trying.
Tumblr media
Yoo Jinhyuk / Jieun ( M / F) — The Constant
Long before either you and J were idols, they were someone from your hometown who was hellbent on outdoing you. Your life was a hell, not only was K your age, they were also a family friend and your classmate.  For your entire life, whenever you do something, J will somehow find a way to do it better. It wasn't a surprise that their career as an idol flourished as quickly as yours. You have spent a chunk of your life wondering if you have done something bad to warrant such hatred. If only you could notice the looks J gives you, maybe you'd see there was never a trace of hatred.
Choi Kihoon / Kyuri (M / F) — The Newcomer
K is your senior in the industry, they debuted four years before the public even knew about you. Strangely enough, you and K have not formally met each other yet. There were many instances where you were supposed to meet them and even work with them in some films, but it always fell through. Who would have thought they would become your neighbor? Known for their intimidating looks and villain roles, K is surprisingly kind-to a naïve level. It's a surprise that they have been able to live in a world like this.  Would you give this kind newcomer a chance?
Shin Hojin / Hwayoung (M / F) — The Artist
Your relationship with H is extremely awkward even when you both come from the same company. As an industry senior, you do your best to guide H and their group so that they can avoid all your mistakes and be the best of the best. However, as H debuted later in their life, they are actually older than you. It throws you off. You don't know how to interact with them without sounding rude. Little do you know, you are their muse. The one H means when they write love songs. Can this hopeless romantic have a chance with you?
Lee Sunwoo / Soojin / Soo (M / F / NB) — The Reporter
You should not be seen with them; it will only ruin your career. It is best to stay clear of them. Well, that is what S convinced themselves. They weren't like this before. S was once known for their professionalism and straight-laced reports, up until two years ago. S was the main reporter who made the public aware of a devious crime done by different celebrities. While reporting it to the public was the right thing, S's mental health took a decline. Honestly, S is a hypocrite. They keep on telling you this friendship is a bad look when they're the ones who crave your presence the most. They want to protect you but fear crossing the line between protecting you and abandoning you.

Just read through again and leaving Sam after this weekend if you romance them is gonna be a whole new kind of painful, like leaving for the first time all over again, idk if I have the strength 🥺😭
Ohhh absolutely. Imagine 2 and a half days of intimacy and spending every minute with each other... only for Sam to be wrenched away again.
It's like the rainbow bonus stage in Mario where everything is sunshine and happiness but you know that soon enough you're gonna be whisked back to life-as-normal.
I feel like the true essence of Sam's route is that whiplash of going from zero to 100 and back to zero again... rinse and repeat.

As a 17 (soon to be 18) year old senior, you are anxiously awaiting for the day you graduate, pack your bags, and ditch Sunnyview, the sleepy, incredibly boring, town that you have grown up in all your life. It has been your dream for as long as you can remember—sometimes you can almost taste freedom on your tongue, so close yet so far away.
But one day, all of that changes when the filming for a movie is announced near your hometown. Not only is it a Stephen Zuckerberg, but it stars the recent award-winning actor Taylor Victory. Their presence stirs great interest and excitement in your small town. You did not care much about the actor beyond your keen interest in Stephen Zuckerberg movies, or at least, you thought you did not.
Until you have a chance encounter with the one and only Taylor Victory, and you notice the eerie facial similarities you share with them. Thus, a deal is struck between you.
You will swap places with each other—Taylor will experience a normal week of high school as you, and you will live the life of an actor in their place. Plus, their offer of money doesn't quite hurt, and with it you would have enough to leave Sunnyview.
Oh, how little did you realize how much trouble you were about to get yourself into.
Tumblr media
↬ customize your name, nickname, gender, looks, personality, etc.! however you will think of yourself as a "regular, ordinary" person living a boring life.
↬ taylor's gender, pronouns, and looks will be identical to yours (with a few modifications)!
↬ take the place of a famous teen actor and perhaps get to film a few scenes. lie, cheat, gaslight, manipulate; whatever it takes to convince others that you are who you say you are. otherwise...
↬ fall in love with your best friend, the popular kid (aka your crush), your "co-star," or no one. break or make your relationships with them.
↬ celebrate your 18th birthday as taylor and all by yourself.
↬ attend prom as yourself. or taylor? you aren't quite sure what it is yet.
Tumblr media
Taylor Victory (gender based on MC) → The Identical Twin
The actor who became well-known for their lead role in the romcom movie "High Love" and won awards for it. Ever since Victory entered the entertainment industry at the age of 5, they have never been able to live a "normal" life. Until, that is, they meet you. They are charming, suave, and everything that you imagine an actor to be. Especially their cockiness.
Maxie Yang (gender selectable) → The Best Friend
You have known them ever since you were in diapers; your sweet, quirky, and incredibly reliable best friend since forever. They have always cherished you and you to them, acting as your shield when you used to be heavily bullied in middle school. They have a remarkable passion for art and is a total geek for mythology. Years later, Maxie remains the same as ever, though sometimes you catch their adoring gaze at you. Do they...no, probably not.
Tropes: friends to lovers, unrequited pining (on their part)
Kelsey Lovelock (gender selectable) → The Crush
Kelsey Lovelock is one of the popular kid at school...and has also been your longtime crush since 8th grade. You don't remember when it first began, but they have always treated you nice enough even if their friends are assholes and made your life hell the years before and during. Charismatic and currently in the running nominations for Prom King/Queen. They likely do not feel anything for you considering how little you have talked to them in your final year of high school…and they are dating someone else.
Tropes: acquaintance to friends to lovers, unattainable
Peyton Ryans (gender selectable) → The Co-star
Taylor's co-star in their upcoming movie together. And for whatever reason, they seem to hate Taylor with a passion. Unfortunately, they play as the protagonist (that's Taylor)'s love interest, so you often have to make contact with them. Perhaps you could try to persuade them to see a "different" side of Taylor and change their view. It all depends on how you play the game—just hope they don’t find you out.
Tropes: enemies to lovers, coworkers

as an author, do you see the characters as your children? i kinda feel that way with my oc's, like "yeah that's my kid alright"
I would say no.
When I write, I think about what I'd want to read myself: the choices I'd like to make, the attitude I'd like to see in the MC, the characters I'd enjoy romancing, and so on.
If I treated them like children, I wouldn't be able to think of them in those terms.
But my IF in general terms - yes.
It's my baby that requires attention, effort, and dedication. It's labor, but I've been much happier since I started working on my story. I love what I do, and I'm happy to see it progress and grow.
That's why I'm very grateful for all the support I get. Thank you for being here and for helping me grow my story ♥

The Story of Sin [DEVLOG 5/31/2024]
Link to the demo here. Link to the main post here.
Hey guys!
May has been crazy for me for some reason?? I have 2 family birthdays this month, I had midterms and went on a 5-day vacation the first week, I got super sick the week after that, AND I joined a community raffle as one of the authors donating a prize for the winners. [More info will be available next week or so, I think?]
So, it is unfortunate, but I could not finish chapter 8 this month. I got really close, but something happens near the end of the chapter that has 5 different options and I didn't want to rush through it. So, that's the bad news. The good news is that I'll more than likely get chapter 9 done next month as well, so you all will be getting 2 chapters instead of just 1 next month!! ☺️
So, with that, I'll see you guys next month with 2 chapters! [Hopefully!!]
CURRENT WORD COUNT: 52,969 58,574 [+5,605]
Please enjoy these memes I made in a rush as thanks for being so patient with me 🤗
