RISING FROM MUDDY WATERS
🧚‍♀️⛲️🌸🍀🧚‍♀️⛲️🌸🍀🧚‍♀️⛲️🌸🍀🧚‍♀️⛲️
The Lotus is a flower of great symbolic weight in many Eastern cultures, and considered one of the most sacred plants in the world. The Lotus Flower has a life cycle unlike any other plant. With it's roots latched in mud, it submerges every night into river water and miraculously re blooms the next morning, sparkling clean. In many cultures this process associates the flower with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment. With it's daily process of life, death and re-emergence its no wonder that the Lotus Flower holds such symbolism.
The flower blooms in the most unlikely of places. Not only does it find sanctuary in the darkness but its beauty is blithely unaffected when it reblooms each morning. It continues to resurrect itself, coming back just as beautiful as it was last seen.
Even though we may face unimaginable situations each day, it doesn't define our value and worth. Just like the Lotus Flower emerging from muddy waters, our lives too can shine amid difficult circumstances. Be brave, take courage. You are reborn, you are strong and you are beautiful.

Artist Discussion: Alexa Brost
Artist: Lynne Bellchamber
Background: Lynne Bellchamber is an artist from Woking, Berkshire, United Kingdom. She attended Brighton University, where she studied Fine Arts and later graduated with her degree in 1998. Despite success after graduating, Lynne faced some personal discouragement and dissatisfaction with her chosen field of study, and took a 15 year hiatus from painting before making a remarkable return in the 2010s. Her painting specialty focuses on whimsical forest fairies and mythical woodland elements. Lynne also creates personal commissions for people based on imagery sent to her, however I feel her own original expression is where her artistic nature really shines.
Work + Accomplishments: As previously mentioned, Lynne’s work is focused on magical and mythical woodland life and creatures, mainly acrylic paint on canvas medium. Her work was featured in 7 different exhibitions and galleries throughout Berkshire, and upon her return from her 15 year hiatus, Lynne won the First Prize Award for the Wokingham Art Society’s Your Choice Award in 2014. She has a few other notable achievements, including (but not limited too) :
Art Foundation end of year exhibition where she sold every single one of her pieces
Resident Artist at V & A Traynor Fine Art Gallery, Binfield
Exhibiting at Gabriel Fine Art Gallery, London Waterloo
Choice + Relation to “Fall Into Color”: I chose Lynne Bellchamber and her work for my artist discussion because I believe her work directly relates to our “Fall Into Color” project. When I see her work, she uses color to dramatically emphasize and represent natural elements, while incorporating a sense of whimsy, light and magic. The perspective feels so innocent and childlike, bringing to view the beautiful details in the simplicity around us, such as leaves, firefly light, flowers, dewdrops and mushrooms. The colors used, as well as the application and delivery of her approach suggest whimsey, magic and an innocent feeling of childhood wonder. Overall I think they are very colorful, tasteful and beautiful.

Questions:
In what ways does Lynne Bellchambers use of color, light/shadow and texture help convey her artwork and the emotions represented within? What do you believe those emotions are?
What story/stories do you believe are being told through her artwork? Do you think her selected color palettes reflect the message of each painting?

Wisteria Whispers
The Wisteria vine is well known for its groups of violet blooms which cascade downward like a beautiful waterfall. The fragrant blooms and seeds of the Wisteria are known to attract many winged creatures....butterflies, insects and if you're lucky, fairies. The secrets of the Wisteria should remain undisturbed, don't expect a warm welcome if you hear whispers in the blooms and take a peek, fairies are shy and won't happy at the intrusion!
I have held on to this painting for 3 years and I don't know why. Maybe because it holds memories of my once happy secure life and I haven't wanted to let that go. Today I feel it is time.
