My question to you all..

When WWX had the ghost girls throw flowers at LWJ and he gave them back when he entered the tavern.. had LWJ already pocketed the pink peony or was it after they parted ways?

There's something really adorable about him trying to give WWX the flowers minus the flower he specifically gave him. But there's also something rather hilarious about a version where WWX leaves first (unconsciously heartbroken, as he clearly was) and LWJ looks the ghost girls dead in the eye and takes the pink peony with a stoney expression before turning on his heels and leaving.

Playing Mind Games

Hey friends; it's 2:30 AM and I come to you with a new trope character list. Master Manipulative Mains. These men have orchestrated tactics and falsified scenarios to land themselves the men that they want.

This is a trope that I don't necessarily dislike because I do like these characters and the overall relationship dynamics are some of my faves. I'm not saying these characters are bad boyfriends, but the way they went about getting these boyfriends were a bit questionable.

If I was on the receiving end these mind games I would be throwing hands immediately. Anyway, enjoy this list of my fave Manipulative BL Protagonists.

Payu from Love in the Air

I love Payu, I really do, but the man preyed on Rain's ignorance of car maintenance and tampered with the boy's car because he knew Rain would turn to him for help, he was counting on it. He wanted Rain to owe him so he could take advantage of a non-existent debt he created. Like sir. You could've just asked him out, you saw the way he was ogling you at that dinner party. Then he made Rain jump through hoops to prove he was good enough for him and didn't tell him about the car tampering until after they were well established.

Nubsib from Lovely Writer

Nubsib auditioned for a series his longtime crush, Gene, was the source writer for in the hopes of running into this man again. And then took advantage of his manager's friendship with that same writer and had him lie so that he could live with Gene. He tricked Gene into running lines with him so he could kiss him and had no intention of telling him that they were childhood friends. He just decided to wait until Gene found out on his own. He said he didn't want Gene to look at him like a younger brother so that's why he didn't reveal his true identity. Yea no, that's not how this works.

Gao Shi De from We Best Love: No. 1 for You

In order to be a memorable presence in his long time crush's life, Shi De had taken it upon himself to become Shu Yi's sole rival from grade school through college. He one-upped his unsuspecting crush in sports, competitions, and academics. He also conned Shu Yi into being his errand boy so they could spend time together. And then when they finally got closer he convinced his cousin who just so happened to be the Uni's doctor to let him use his infirmary to set up a lock-in Halloween sleepover with Shu Yi. The manipulation Olympics Shi De put himself through was unmatched.

Theo from Enchante

This man deserves an award for the manipulation tactics he went through to get Akk to confess to him first. He created a whole secret admirer to try to make Akk jealous and admit he liked him. Then he accidentally got the Uni's 4 most popular students to pretend they were his Enchante which further fueled his convoluted plan. Like he knew they weren't his admirer but he said nothing, I think it's because he could tell that Akk was jealous which was what he wanted. And then when the truth was finally revealed Akk just accepted it?? I guess he was just happy to find out Theo liked him. Couldn't be me.

Kim Jun Ho from Kissable Lips

This vampire planned to use his supernatural charm to make an innocent Choi Min Hyun fall in love with him so he could drink all his blood and become human. He literally took advantage of every moment they had together to try to drink his blood. Jokes on him, his ass fell in love. SMH.

Honorable mentions to Nuea from Secret Crush on You, because that man was very aware of Toh's crush on him and managed to convince Toh he was gonna teach him how to kiss but really he just wanted to smooch his little stalker because he liked him too. Not to mention that man stripped in front of Toh every chance he got, but honestly Toh was so into it that I can't even be mad.

This scene was so deep. Yunlan can't figure out why such a powerful being like Shen Wei would risk so much of himself to save a regular human like Yunlan. Yunlan is unaware of the impact he had on Shen Wei thousands of years ago. He doesn't know the impression he left with Shen Wei for the brief time they had together when Shen Wei was just a feared entity. It's very frustrating to Yunlan because he thinks he's not worth that much trouble but he just doesn't understand that Shen Wei sacrificing himself to save Yunlan is the bare minimum Shen Wei would do for Yunlan.

"You wanted us to be together forever, but you didn't believe in my forever," Zhou Shu Yi to Gao Shi De from We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd.

Shu Yi is just discovering that the ex-boyfriend trying to win him back agreed with his father to break up with him 5 years ago. He claimed to love Shu Yi the most and wanted to be with him but allowed someone to make him feel like their relationship wasn't strong enough to withstand family opposition. He placed so much faith in his own "selfless" love that he didn't even consider the strength of the love Shu Yi had for him. Disrespectful.

"If it's hard for you, then I'll come to you," Kang Seo Joon to Han Ji Woo from To My Star.

Seo Joon knows that Ji Woo loves him, but he also knows that Ji Woo finds it practically impossible to say how he truly feels. Ji Woo shows his love in his actions, he would rather sacrifice his own happiness to protect Seo Joon. Seo Joon is very aware of this and he essentially tells Ji Woo that if he can't push himself to admit it then Seo Joon will make it easier for him and meet him all the way. If the feelings are there then Seo Joon will express them for Ji Woo.

"I'm so happy to have you at the end of my long, boring life," Kim Jun Ho to Choi Min Hyun from Kissable Lips.

Jun Ho is lucky enough to die in the arms of the last person he fell in love with who he seemed to have loved the most. Jun Ho chose to spend his last few moments showing Min Hyun how much he loved him and how important he was to him. In the end Jun Ho chose life, just not his own and he seemed genuinely happy with his decision.

"Can it just be the two of us tonight? Don't mention anyone else," Phun to Noh in Lovesick the Series.

Phun and Noh escape their lives for a night at the beach. They both have girlfriends but find themselves falling in love with each other. It's a relationship they feel is impossible for multiple reasons, so for just one night Phun just wants to be together with Noh with no worries or fears before they both have to return to their lives and girlfriends.

OK, for the rest of you, if I had a dime for each time I watched a cdrama where ML groomed a dead ringer of his deceased stepmom to manipulate a family member for power but ended wanting her for himself, I'd have two dimes which is not a lot, but it's odd that it happened twice.

thinking if i wanna officially add these secondary muses that are more or less from the same verse to this blog too so please like if u would like to plot with them or want a small little starter from these test/new babies !!

yoon seyi - (ryu/jin fc) a freshie in university majoring in contemporary dance, got roped to join the cheerleader team because they promise sponsored meals every training session and she's broke. works multiple random part time jobs, mostly retail hence why she is not as chill as she hopes to be. doesn't like to over complicate things, but would gladly get into a fight for you.

jude han - (ver/non fc) named after the beatles song yes because his father used to be the lead guitarist of some touring artist's band. somehow got a taste a fame when he was in high school due to his tiktok dance challenges going viral, and people said he's good at dancing so he actually decides to learn it, ends up becoming an actual dancer for choreography team "1llusion" and he likes watching his own fancams sometimes. talks more about wanting to be a mukbang streamer though.

jang seung-a - (jin/soul fc) lead vocalist of co-ed group 'the royals' who is often overshadowed by more charming and charismatic members. often is the receiving end of backslashes and criticism due to her sweet and soft nature that does not completely fit in with the group's concept. currently on hiatus, so she helps out at her father's comic store. actually prefers to live in a small town rather than big cities.

lee yoo-il - (young/hoon fc) lead dancer of co-ed group 'the royals' who is known for his quiet, somewhat haunted vibes. which isn't entirely too far from the truth, considering he grew up in an ab*sive household and money was always a problem. yet he couldn't be more wrong if he thought debuting and being in public's eye would have him escape his parents' claws. almost lives in the dance studio now even as the group is on hiatus, trying to keep himself busy in whichever way necessary. jiang chen - (dy/lan wang / wang zi/yi fc) model turned idol slash nightclub and bar owner who doesn't even like partying despite his image appears so. doesn't even like being an idol, but he likes the benefits that come with it so it's alright. more genuine than he seems despite all the rumors and scandals, actually a lovesick little guy who would do anything for loved ones, but would choke and die before he says it out loud. (affiliated with 'the royals')

yu ji-an - (se/jeong fc) zookeeper who is mainly in charge of the giant pandas, and aspires to live like one someday. used to attend med school following steps of helicopter parents who are also surgeons, but quit after two years having decided that humans are simply not worth it. spends more than she earns tbh. but is rather down-to-earth, only if you don't annoy her.
