I wanted to draw a hood, but it slowly became a Graham with long hair. I kinda like how he looks with it.

Graham Vodsom backstory
Tumblr media
Some people want to learn more about my oc Graham Vodsom in my “Empire” comic idea/project so I will try to tell a little bit about his backstory. It will be a very general description as I don’t want to give off too many details, but I hope it’s still somewhat comprehensible.
Also, sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first language.
At the time of the story, Graham is 28-29 years old. He was born in an isolated village in a territory called the Pine barrens in the far east of the Empire; a territory annexed about 3 centuries ago.
His family is composed of his father and his sister Rose who is 7 years younger than him. The family lives in a house nicknamed “the house on the hill of crows”. Their father is the last priest of a pre-imperial religion of the Pine barrens, whose religions and cults are repressed by the Empire. Their father also plays somewhat of a leader in the village feeds a hatred for the empire, but still cooperates with the imperial authority as it’s meager presence of in the regions is mostly there to oversee the mines so they choose to turn a blind eye on their father’s religious activities as long as peace in the village is kept.  The father trains Graham as a future priest, teaching him an art practiced in their religion of creating what is often called “thinking surfaces”.
When Graham was 13 years old, more and more inexplicable events start to happen in the village; dead cattle, missing people, increased senseless murder and violence among villagers. This will culminate to a major and violent incident caused by their father that will result in their village being completely atomized by the Inquisition to contain what their father have created.
Graham and his sister were the only survivors.
Graham then became disillusioned in his father teachings and begins to distrust the priests of the different Dak’ori tribes, seeing each of them as a potential menace. He will follow the footsteps of the man who found them outside their village during the incident and become an Inquisitor of the Ministry of Accordance. His sister on the other side will often find herself in various illegal religious masses and ceremonies, and continually tries to preserve the arts that their father thought them. The relationship between Graham and Rose will therefore deteriorate.
As the years pass, Rose will become more and more frustrated by the new wave of repressions by the Empire and by the behavior of her brother. She will start to join more and more violent and separatist groups.
An event will force her to flee to avoid prosecution. She will travel from the far east of the empire to the Septentrional ascendency, territories under the umbrella of the Ministry of Clairvoyance, where the Inquisition have no powers. Graham will not hear anything from her for the next 5 years. During this time, Graham will come across documents and his mentor’s letters where he will uncover that the inquisition was involved in their father’s life for years before the incident and that he is too currently under supervision. Little time after, he will receive a letter from a woman called Medea deTarron saying that his sister was identified in a heist done by the group led by an individual named Fouduroi. A painting that is shrouded in mysteries, titled “Harrow’s watchful space” was stolen.  Graham will use this occasion to flee Dak’or and try to find his lost sister.
