Toronto could soon be under a deep freeze as a system threatens to bring temperatures colder than -30 C to southern Ontario.
The forecast for early February comes as Toronto braces for what is promising to be a historic snowstorm, and extremely frigid temperatures forecast for the following week could complicate cleanup efforts.
Ingersoll, Ontario-based extreme weather chaser, David Piano, shared a graphic forecasting bitter cold to descend over the region by Feb. 2 with temperatures as low as the mid-negative-30s in both Fahrenheit and Celsius (the two metrics reach equilibrium in this extreme range). [...]
So yea, there could be points during this cold system where Toronto and the surrounding region will indeed be colder than the surface of Mars.
As terrifying as this prediction is, different meteorologists are saying different things about this coming Groundhog Day, and some don't think the coming cold weather will be as bad as this one forecast suggests.
The Weather Network is only predicting a low of -15 C for Feb. 2, while Accuweather's forecast only calls for a low of -10 C, a discrepancy that has to do with the GFS model's tendency to run colder than official forecasts.
This was the case in early 2019 when a similar arctic blast descended over Lake Michigan, and GFS-model predictions called for significantly lower air temperatures than predictions using the standard ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) model. [...]

🌤️🌩️ Weather and Climate 🌤️🌨️❄️
Weather is the average condition of the atmosphere over a period of time. It is influenced by a different factors, including climate. Climate, on the other hand, refers to the long-term patterns of temperature, and other atmospheric conditions in a specific region.
Technology has played a role in the way we teach and learn about weather and climate. Here's how:
It makes students more engaged and helps them to retain information for example by observing virtual landforms and weather patterns. Technologies that we use to address climate change are known as climate technologies. Climate technologies help us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions include renewable energies such as wind energy, solar power and hydropower.
In addition the Information and Communication technology involves the use of Stateline or airborne sensors to collect data on various parameters as temperature, precipitation and vegetation covers amoung others. Also education systems have to become more resilient ti climate related disasters to avoid disruption during extreme weather events
Furthermore, advanced computers and models enable students to observe and manipulate virtual landscapes and weather patterns. These tools enhance understanding. The internet offers a variety of educational materials, from informative websites to videos and online courses. Students can access a wide range of information on weathering and climate at their fingertips.
Satellites and remote sensors collect extensive data on climate and environmental changes. These data sets are used to teach students about climate trends and the impact of weathering on landscapes.
There are various apps and games are designed to make learning about weathering and climate enjoyable and interactive, particularly for younger students.
Students can gain valuable data analysis skills by using software tools to examine climate data, weather patterns, and environmental changes, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific processes.
In conclusion, technology has transformed weathering and climate education by making it more accessible, engaging, and interactive. These technological tools enable students to explore complex concepts and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between weathering processes and climate patterns.
