Ash Lynx

I finished Banana Fish for the first time small while ago. It completely broke me, someone who's normally very emotionally detached. Couple days from that, I decided to rewatch it. It was way more painful, cried nearly the whole time. It became my favorite anime. Here is my study drawing of dear Ash.

Honestly Eiji is kind of the closest we get to a reader self-insert or an everyman character. He's considered by the other characters to be plain and in over his head, but he still rises to the occasion and does what needs to be done. He doesn't stand out in terms of appearance or personality, and has the "ordinary guy in extraordinary circumstances" vibe. With Ash, he would be exceptional in any context. Eiji, though, is exceptional because of his actions and reactions to being put into outstanding situations. He's the person the reader wants to say that they would be if they were thrown into that sort of a situation. Sure, I'm not exceptional yet, but I would be if things turned out that way.

And, at its heart, that's what a y/n character is too!
