Updated vaccines against Covid-19 are coming, just as hospitalizations and deaths due to the virus are steadily ticking up again.
Today, the US Food and Drug Administration authorized new mRNA booster shots from Moderna and Pfizer, and a panel of outside experts that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted to recommend the shots to everyone in the United States ages 6 months and older. Once Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Mandy Cohen signs off on the recommendations and the vaccines are shipped, people can start getting the boosters.
The recommendation is projected to prevent about 400,000 hospitalizations and 40,000 deaths over the next two years, according to data presented at the meeting by CDC epidemiologist Megan Wallace.
This year’s mRNA vaccines are different from the 2022 booster in a key way. Last year’s shot was a bivalent vaccine, meaning it covered two variants: the original one that emerged in China in 2019, plus the Omicron subvariant BA.5, which was circulating during much of 2022. This fall’s booster drops the original variant, which is no longer circulating and is unlikely to return. It targets just the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5, which was dominant throughout much of 2023.
Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccines work by introducing a tiny piece of genetic material called messenger RNA, or mRNA, that carries instructions for making SARS-CoV-2’s characteristic spike protein. Once it is injected, cells in the body use those instructions to temporarily make the spike protein. The immune system recognizes the protein as foreign and generates antibodies against it. Those antibodies stick around so that if they encounter that foreign invader again, they will mount a response against it.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the virus has acquired new mutations in its spike protein and elsewhere. These mutations result in new variants and subvariants that diverge from the original virus. When enough mutations accumulate, these new versions can more easily evade the antibodies created by previous vaccine doses or infections.
The constantly evolving nature of the virus is the reason health regulators decided last year to update the original mRNA vaccines, which were designed against the version of the virus that first appeared in 2019. This year, once again, the virus has changed enough to warrant an updated booster.
In June, an advisory committee to the FDA recommended that this fall’s booster be a monovalent vaccine—targeting only the then-dominant XBB.1.5 subvariant.
At that meeting, committee members reviewed evidence suggesting that the inclusion of the original variant may hamper the booster’s effectiveness against newer offshoots. “The previous bivalent vaccine contained the ancestral spike and thus skewed immune responses to the old spike,” says David Ho, a professor of microbiology at Columbia University whose research, which is not yet peer-reviewed, was among the evidence the FDA panel reviewed. “This is what we call immunological imprinting, and it results in lack of immune responses to the new spike.” He thinks taking out the old variant should optimize the immune response.
But over the past few months, even newer Omicron offshoots have arrived. Currently, EG.5.1, or Eris, is the dominant one in the United States, United Kingdom, and China. Meanwhile, a variant called BA.2.86, or Pirola, has been detected in several countries. Pirola has raised alarm bells because it has more than 30 new mutations compared to XBB.1.5.
Even though the new boosters were formulated against XBB.1.5, they’re still expected to provide protection against these new variants. “The reason is, while antibodies are important in protection against mild disease, the critical part of the immune response that’s important for protecting against severe disease is T cells,” says Paul Offit, a professor of vaccinology at the University of Pennsylvania and member of the FDA’s vaccine advisory committee.
These cells are a different part of the immune response. Unlike antibodies, which neutralize a pathogen by preventing it from infecting cells, T cells work by eliminating the cells that have already been invaded and boosting creation of more antibodies. Both the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccines produce long-lasting T cells in addition to antibodies.
It’s why, Offit says, when the Omicron wave hit in late 2021 and peaked in January 2022, the US didn’t see a dramatic increase in hospitalizations and deaths even as cases rose significantly: People’s T cells kicked into gear, even when their antibodies didn’t recognize the Omicron variant.
“In some ways,” says Offit, when it comes to vaccine booster development, “it almost doesn’t matter what we pick to target” because the coronavirus has yet to evolve away from T cell recognition. “Everything works.”
Scientists think T cells are able to protect against severe Covid because they’re recognizing parts of the virus that have remained unchanged throughout the pandemic. “I suspect that as we continue to vaccinate, there are some conserved regions [of the virus],” says Jacqueline Miller, Moderna’s head of infectious diseases. “So even with the accumulation of mutations, we’re still building on previous immunity.”
People who have hybrid immunity—that is, have had a Covid infection and have also been vaccinated—seem to have the best immune responses to new variants, she says, which suggests that previous exposure shapes and improves immune responses to new variants. Preliminary studies show that antibodies generated by previous infections and vaccinations should be capable of neutralizing Pirola.
Earlier this month, Moderna issued a press release saying that clinical trial data showed that its updated booster generated a strong immune response against Pirola, as well as the more prevalent Eris variant.
In a statement to WIRED, Pfizer spokesperson Jerica Pitts said the company continues to closely monitor emerging variants and conduct tests of its updated monovalent booster against them. Data presented at Tuesday’s CDC meeting showed that Pfizer-BioNTech’s updated booster elicited a strong neutralizing antibody response against both Eris and Pirola.
The FDA expects that Covid-19 vaccines will continue to be updated on an annual basis, unless a completely new variant emerges that requires a different approach. “We will always be a little behind the virus,” says Ho. “In this instance, we won’t suffer too much, but that might not be the case going forward. Surveillance is imperative.”

AITA for wanting a material thing rather than an experience for my college graduation gift, and being upset I still don't have it?
I skimmed through some other AITA posts to prepare me to write this one properly, and saw someone use the term "validation bait." I bring that up because I fear this post may read like that once all is said and done, but I genuinely am worried my perspective might be skewed. I encourage you to enter "Reddit Mode" if you decide to reply after your judgement with additional context and feel the need to be blunt.
Background context: I have an older sibling who graduated before me during the beginning of COVID. While his gift was delayed as a result, we as a family (three children one father) ended up going to Disney World, NASA, and Universal Orlando in 2021 to celebrate his accomplishment. It was a great trip, aside from the horrific humidity and the hurricane that just barely missed us. Later on, I asked my sibling if that was what he actually wanted to do, and he said our father proposed some ideas because he didn't really have any and Florida sounded like a good idea to him. My asking this will make sense later, but putting it here seems the most logical.
Additionally, it may be important to know that my father goes on a lot of trips. At least, more than anyone I've personally known. I'm not gonna try to calculate the exact number, but I will say in the span of less than a year (after the family Florida trip), he went to both Canada and Mexico for a week each, on top of additional excursions to Florida and Vegas-- almost all also including bringing his girlfriend. At the same time, he claimed assistance with college tuition was out of his budget, started having me pay rent on a part time job, and told my younger sibling fixing the AC in their car would cost too much as well. Even I know something doesn't add up here, but maybe I'm taking it too personally. End background context.
Fast forward to spring of 2023, and it's my turn to graduate college. Here's the thing: my brother was asked at least a year in advance to his graduation what he would like to do. I wasn't asked; I had to bring it up myself, and I waited until my graduation was only two months out. It was also over a phone call, because my father was out of town for at least the fifth time that year already. I dropped the hint that, for my graduation present, I would really like to get a nice gaming desktop. My father's response was, "... We'll see." Later on, he elaborated through text stating, "I took everybody to florida because i think graduations should be more about memories than what material thing you can get out of your dad."
Here's the thing: it's no secret to my dad that I'm a gamer, and I like video games. Additionally, it's no secret that a gaming desktop is something I have wanted for a decade. Even since middle school I've talked about gaming desktops and how much I wanted one. Even so, I happily played games like Saints Row III on a laptop that chugged along at 12 frames per second and took every crash in stride. I also thought that this kind of gift would be a relief to my dad, as my thought process was it would be far less expensive than taking an entire family somewhere out of the state for a week. Not only that, but there wasn't really anywhere I wanted to go. I don't have the desire to travel like he does; I don't mind taking my time off at home or locally, and relaxing with the things I have rather than spending a ton on a fancy dinner or hotel or concert.
So, naturally, I was confused, dismayed, and heartbroken. While I started crafting a text response explaining why a gaming desktop would not just be for personal use, but would also be advantageous for my career (my degree was in animation and I learned surface level coding for making video games), I also wondered why it was wrong for me to want a "material thing" even if it wasn't something necessarily "useful." Because while, yes, a gaming desktop would have the power I needed for more intensive animation projects, that wasn't really why I wanted one. But I figured explaining as such would help convince my dad why it was a good idea.
My dad ended up calling me before I could finish crafting my text, so I did my best to explain my standpoint, as well as pointing out how the specs for a gaming desktop are pretty much parallel with the specs for a desktop for things like 3D rendering and animation. He stood his ground on "making memories" as well, and also hinted that I was acting entitled for asking about my graduation present. I think I pointed out to him how he asked my older brother far in advance what he wanted for his graduation, but those details of the conversation are a little faded with time. I did end up sending my text after that phone call anyway, as I felt it better explained what I was thinking and feeling than I could say in verbal conversation (I've always gotten a little flustered talking to my dad about things I want that he doesn't approve of).
Fortunately, after reading my text, my father seemed to come around, and invited me to put together a list of parts for my computer, since I wanted to build it. I got really excited and got the help of my computer-savvy friend to put together something I thought was reasonable-- it had a really good graphics card and processor, and I made compromises on some of the other parts to lower the cost. I haven't looked at the list in a while, but the total cost-- tower, two mid-range monitors, basic keyboard and mouse-- was something like 2.5k approaching 3k. Mid range (at least, it is these days) I think, but it would be enough for the things I wanted to do.
I put the list together, and emailed it to my dad. The assumption I had, was he would purchase the parts, and then we would build it together (or I would build it alone). However, later on I went to ask him if he had gotten my email, and while he said yes, he also said, "I'm not paying for the whole thing. I can't afford it, and it's not fair to spend more on you as an individual than what I spent on your brother as an individual for the Florida trip."
I find the latter point somewhat fair considering I'm the only person who benefits from this gift, but the first point, given the background context on my father's habits, I'm not sure how much I believe. But arguing with him would have been pointless. I definitely would have liked to have had that information beforehand, but it ultimately didn't change much.
This is getting long, so I'll try to summarize the rest. This was just the first instance of my father changing the goal posts for my graduation gift. First, he tried to convince me that getting a prebuilt tower would be just as good. I did the research, and a tower with the graphics card I wanted would have cost as much as building my own tower and buying a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and still not have been as good in other specs anyways. Then, he tried to tell me he was only going to give me $1000 towards the computer. I pointed out paying for my older sibling for the Florida trip would have cost at least $1500-- if I hadn't done the research, I wouldn't have known any better and just blindly agreed. Then, two days after my graduation, he stated that he wasn't going to give me the money for the computer until I had secured a full time job.
At that point, I just gave up, and agreed.
Fast forward to now. I'm still working the part time job, I barely make enough to put a couple dollars into savings, no one is hiring me full time, and my dad hinted that, instead of doing presents for Christmas this year, we all agree to go on vacation somewhere. Not only that, but his family in Canada just told him they're going to Mexico in November. Not only is my dad implying we should go too and I should pay a portion of my own way, I have a further feeling he may say that this will be our Christmas as well. I still don't have the computer, even though my dad has noticed how much I'm struggling.
If I had the computer, I wouldn't have minded the vacation-- but I feel like my wants and feelings have been completely pushed aside in favor of what my dad thinks is good and/or right, and the wind has been taken out of my sails regarding my graduation entirely. On the other hand, maybe he's right that I focus too much on a material thing and should redirect my attention to an experience and go somewhere to relax/get away from daily life.
Am I a materialistic asshole?
What are these acronyms?

hello! we hope this is ok to ask, it's totally fine if you don't answer- but we've recently become interested in satanism and demon work, but we know exactly nothing about it or where to start. we did some basic research with academic sources like wikipedia but have no idea where to go from there. we're hesitant to just dive in on our own because we know there are a lot of bad sources and groups to avoid but don't actually know what those things are.
anyways, we trust your opinion and recommendations so we wanted to ask if you had any suggestions on how to go about researching and learning about theistic satanism for an absolute beginner! recommended books or articles, groups to avoid, red flags, anything like that would be very appreciated 💚 thank you so much!
okay so, this may be a controversial opinion but in my opinion (KEY WORD OPINION) you actually shouldn't only stick to unproblematic and valid uwu authors, because i'll be honest (in terms of satanism and demonolatry), there ARE no pure and good authors out there. every author out there, especially if you're reading a text from a long time ago, is going to have something you disagree with. you need to practice some form of critical engagement, additionally, because engaging with a text critically and understanding why it is wrong is way more important than just shutting out the information altogether. you will not learn anything if you pretend that problematic texts do not exist. i'm not saying this to be harsh, but there is a reason we research a variety of texts and perspectives in high school english class. you need to continue that kind of method when researching anything.
now that is covered, i'll tell you what i have read personally. taking the above into consideration, there are no authors here that don't have something deeply wrong about their texts. i did read their works, and i came to my own conclusions on whether i'm going to dub them an authority on satanism, and i suggest you do the same. satanism is about knowledge and drawing your own, unique conclusions. just make sure what you do adopt doesn't throw any groups of people under the bus, because we're not here to read books and thoughtlessly believe whatever the book says, especially when the book can have misinformation, or offensive content. this is very common in satanism; as much as people love to treat it like it's revolutionary and all-accepting, it can be just as, or even more, discriminatory or outright hateful as christianity, especially in the texts.
the most easy-to-find material:
ars goetia > pretty basic info, but very handy and simple to read
the infernal gospel > probably my favourite book on this list
the complete book of demonolatry > i don't agree with the author, but i got this one in my early days before i knew anything about said author. it's got some useful information, but there's a lot of misinfo
book of the fallen > useful rituals if i remember correctly, i sold this book so i can't recheck
at satan's altar > also an interesting book
the goetia devils > has a lot of what i assume is upg... seems to conflict with what i've seen from other practitioners
the goetic hymns > second favourite book
the satanic philosopher > i found this one hard to read personally
esoterica > youtube channel with amazing information on demonolatry and its history, i suggest getting into this before doing anything else.
all of these websites.
and lastly, i also got like 50+ older texts i got as a bundle off etsy that i can't remember the names of. i wish i could give them to you, but i genuinely have lost every single text i got in the bundle due to me changing computers. i suggest looking on etsy for similar bundles on satanism and demonolatry if you want to get into the historical meat of things.
that being said, my actual last thing i want to say is not to get too entrenched into the theory. the texts are handy, sure! but the one thing i have found the most useful is by engaging with the community. most of my wealth of knowledge did NOT come from texts or media, it came from those around me talking about their experiences. if you want to learn, and i mean REALLY learn about demons and satan, get into the community hardcore and you will learn something new every day. talk to people, make friends, don't do this alone.
edit: okay one more thing. this does go against what i was saying to some degree but i do have a limit to that logic. avoid joy of satan. they're n/eonazis and come on this website regularly. avoid them, avoid them, avoid them.

Would like to add my 2 cents onto the topic of Tallulah and Richarlyson's argument. I didn't live blog anything during that bc I realized fairly quickly that this argument they had was something that hit me very personally bc I've lived through it. It hit even harder due to me being an older sister with a younger brother
I can only speak about Bads stream bc that's who I was watching during this whole thing going on, so I dont know how it truly started besides Richas saw the painting Phil got from Cellbit and rightfully got upset about.
Just wanted to say how I loved Bad's handling of the situation with Tallulah. Reasoning with her while also validating her feelings bc it's so easy for parents to go "you're older, YOU have to apologize first" which... I have so many feelings about, but I could see that the conversation happening between BBH and Tallulah would be one of understanding and cooling down from an emotional moment. Also how Bad gave examples of his own experiences. How he's had fights with siblings or friends and understanding that SOMEONE has to apologize first bc you realize you both are in the wrong (which they were)
But chats refusal to see it like that truly got on my nerves. How no matter how many times Bad explained that they're kids and they'll overreact it just went through people's heads and they'd get upset about the situation again.
I can understand the reasoning some chatters had, but everyone NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND that this is roleplay. Yes the eggs are most likely played by people in their late teens to early 20's, but they're playing little kids, who don't have the emotional maturity of an adult, so that's how they're going to act: childish.
I thought Bad handled everything pretty well with the information he had, so I was very surprised to see that people were upset about it. I think there was no one on the server that could've handled that situation perfectly, and quite frankly I don't think there wasn't even a way to handle it perfectly at all considering you're dealing with two little kids and one way or another they'll get upset in which decision you make. Bad was great.
Forever's side for me was also completely understandable. I agree that he should have handled it better, but I also could see why he acted the way he did. A lot of people forget that Forever felt way more responsible for Tallulah because she's not his kid, Philza gave permission to take care of her after rejecting it once and he doesn't want to mess up. He will always be able to take care of Richarlyson after all this, but if he does something wrong with Tallulah, Philza will not let him take her again. It was a different type of responsibility. It was someone else's kid in his care!
And both Forever and Bad are also justifiable in thinking Richas was the immature one in that situation, because in their POV he put a material object over his relationship to his sister. That material might have a deeper meaning, but his sister would always be more important. Of course we, the audience, are very aware of Richarlyson's lore and that painting can't be compared to a normal real life painting, it's something much creepy and deeper than that, but their reaction over a situation like that for me was completely normal. If you're a parent of two kids, the last thing you want to see is one consider the other dead just because of a painting.
Also Richas never truly speaks about them besides saying he hates it, and that was the first time he actually expressed himself better about the whole Montelyson situation. So I hope he can communicate better in the future and their parents can get rid of that creepy thing once and for all.

Alright I think I’ve seen a couple smaller versions of this in bits and pieces so if you have them please share, but I figured that as someone familiar with neither show initially I’m in a good position to do a DPxDC onboarding post!
Since neither source material is particularly helpful in understanding the madness we have created, here is what I consider important to know for each (please add in with anything I miss!)
Danny Phantom (DP)
Main Characters
Danny Fenton - is a Phantom. Died as a teenager by accidentally activating his parents’ portal to the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms but was also revived, becoming a half ghost half human (halfa)
Is the only superhero in Amity Park, fighting ghosts and sometimes ghost hunters to keep humans safe from ghosts and ghosts safe from humans
Has beaten the Ghost King in single combat, and is therefore sometimes considered to be the new Ghost King
Jazz (Jasmine) Fenton - Danny’s older sister, basically his parent, very into psychology and very against the influence their actual parents have had on Danny due to their obsession with ghosts
May/may not know about Phantom, usually considered the Mom Friend of Team Phantom whether she knows or not
Jack Fenton - Danny’s dad, 6’9 koolaid man, loves ham and fudge and breaking through walls instead of the door beside him. A very bad shot but extremely enthusiastic in that 90s dad cartoon way
Prone to believe absolutely anybody but Danny is a ghost, especially when Danny does ghost things in proximity
Extremely intent on the destruction of all ghosts, convinced they do not have actual feelings and should be destroyed pre Phantom reveal. Afterwards, can be either accepting or homicidal towards Danny
Maddie Fenton - Danny’s mom, ridiculous kung fu warrior and engineer, madly in love with Jack and they are sickeningly cute all times except Christmas
Sometimes notices they have kids that need caring for, sometimes curbs Jack’s wilder impulses, she’s the brains of the team
Same ghost views as Jack, but she’s more perceptive and intelligent, which can be used for good or evil
Tucker Foley - Danny’s best friend, likes meat and technology and arguing with Sam
A Black young man with a signature red beret and PDA in the OG show, usually acknowledged to be on par with the bats’ technical skills as he’s an incredible hacker
Danny’s Guy In The Chair, but he will get out of his chair and throw down as needed
Sam Manson - Danny’s Obligatory 90s Cartoon Love Interest, goth and ultra-recyclo-vegetarian child of millionaires who will not be stopped in her crusade for justice
She’s the one who dared Danny to go into the portal that killed him, the guilt she carries for this varies
She is in combat as much as her humanity allows, but also in a support role most of the time
Dash Baxter - Danny’s Obligatory 90s Cartoon Bully, the usual blond beefy jock. Can be surprisingly sensitive and intelligent, probably from being tutored by Jazz
[ETA] Valerie Gray - former antihero with a grudge against ghosts (her dad lost his job because of Cujo), she was given an anti ghost suit by Vlad and worked for him to fight ghosts until learning he is a half ghost
Canon never names her alter ego but we call her Red Huntress, she’s hot headed and impulsive and absolutely dated Danny while trying to murder Phantom - Danny knew the whole time but she did not
She is also Black
Wes Weston - Does Not Exist In Canon. We made him up because Danny had a bracelet that was supposed to say Sam but was shown backwards all episodes so it just says Wes
Knows that Danny is Phantom, INTENT on telling absolutely everyone, and is never believed
Vlad Masters/Plasmius - the only older halfa in the show, and one of Danny’s main villains. A billionaire who went to college with the Fenton parents and was slowly killed after exposure to the first trial portal
Blames Jack for his exposure and is obsessed with stealing Maddie from him and marrying her himself as he believes should have always happened
Her opinion does not factor into this, and she largely treats him with disdain but tempered for her husband, who adores Vlad unequivocally
Dani/Ellie Masters - a girl clone of Danny made by Vlad, the only clone who survived melting into goo. Vlad raised her to try and kill Danny so he could perfect a different boy clone, and kept her isolated
Now that she’s met Danny and been stabilised by him, they are siblings/cousins/besties but she can’t stay in one place, because she wants to experience the whole world
Frostbite - King of the Far Frozen, which is part of the Ghost Zone full of ice. He’s a yeti, and has the zone’s only functional medical facility
Reveres Danny as the Great One, Saviour of the Ghost Zone, and taught him how to use his ice powers
Clockwork - Master of Time, tends to show up in a purple hooded robe with a clock around his neck and rapidly cycle through ages and speak in riddles
Sometimes communicates by leaving green stick notes on things, but never with a direct answer. Considered Danny’s mentor and sends Danny on adventures through time to preserve the time stream
Notably involved in the whole Dan Phantom fiasco
Dan Phantom - an older version of Danny from the future where Danny’s ghost half was removed from his human half, stole Vlad’s ghost half, and destroyed the world because Danny’s whole family and friends were killed in front of him
They were all together to be killed as part of an intervention when Danny was caught cheating on a test. This gives Danny understandable issues about how easily he could go bad and destroy the world
Skulker - an early recurring baddie who is a Kraven the Hunter knockoff, considers himself the Ghost Zone’s best hunter and wants Danny’s pelt for his wall
Actually a tiny little guy inside the helmet of a big mechanised suit, rarely a serious threat
Ember - a young ghost musician who can hypnotise people with her music, craves an audience and another early recurring villain
Dates Skulker I guess
Johnny 13 and Shadow - ghost biker boy and his sentient shadow familiar, dated Danny at some point, but in a permanent ongoing relationship with Kitty
They usually only cause trouble when they fight, break up, wreak havoc, and then eventually get back together
Kitty - once Overshadowed Paulina the generic Pretty Girl to date Danny to get back at Johnny for their break up
She wanted to be a lawyer before she and Johnny were killed in a wreck, sometimes implied to have been caused on purpose by her father
She and Johnny are often Danny’s allies, against other ghosts if necessary
[ETA] Cujo - ghost puppy, very playful and usually about beagle size, but he can grow or shrink at will into a terrifying house sized attack dog. He can make portals so no, you are never safe from Cujo
[ETA] Wulf - werewolf ghost and friend of Danny’s who can also create his own natural portals. He wears pants
Important Terms
Core - a small glowing orb that houses all a ghost’s memories, thoughts, emotions, and vital organs. Can correspond to an element, granting elemental powers after some intense ghost puberty
Requires ectoplasm to form and be maintained but does not exist in canon
Obsession - ghosts are powered by their emotions at death and an Obsession, usually what makes them become a ghost instead of passing on in the first place - does not exist in canon
Danny’s Obsession is usually Protection, Space, or both
Vlad’s Obsession is Maddie, and acquiring Danny as a son once he learns Danny is a halfa too
Dani’s Obsession is Travel
Halfa - half a ghost, half a human, with the ability to transform between human and ghost forms (usually characterised as a colour inversion of hair and clothes)
Powers are basically Everything That Would Be Funny, because it’s a Saturday morning cartoon
Vlad’s specifically include electrocution, duplicating up to thousands of himself, invisibility, intangibility, hand lasers, super strength, healing, and mind control
Danny’s include ice, strength, bendy noodle body, put self in video game, hand lasers, heat vision, ghostly wail (big ol sonic scream, bad for the throat), duplication, teleportation, and literally anything else that was fun for the episode in question
All ghosts seem to get invisibility, intangibility, flight, telekinesis, and ectobeams (lasers from various body parts)
Overshadowing - similar to possession, when a ghost takes over someone else’s body, gaining access to core memories if they look
Sometimes different from possession specifically and considered less invasive, but still invasive. Danny does not like doing this
[ETA] Anti Ecto Acts - a series of laws signed into existence to declare all ectoplasmic entities as nonsentient creatures, able to be experimented on or destroyed at will
Referenced literally once in canon in a single line that basically says “you are under arrest for being a ghost” - after Danny is outed as a halfa, we have obviously extrapolated it into the worst thing possible
Canon calls them Anti-Ecto Control Acts
[ETA] GIW - Guys in White or the Ghost Investigation Ward, they’re literally a colour reversed Men in Black joke to have a government agency that focuses on ghosts
They don’t care about collateral damage and will blow anyone up on their way ghost hunting
DC (Disregard Canon apparently)
Main Characters
Listen I’m not doing all of them so HOEDOWN STYLE I GUESS
Alfred Pennyworth - best Batman character, super butler, makes the best cookies
Bruce Wayne - Batman, may/may not be good batdad
Dick Grayson - Robin 1, responsible for pantsless Robin and excessive flips, grows up to be Nightwing
Jason Todd - fandom woobie, Robin 2, tried to steal the tires off the Batmobile and hit Bruce with a tire iron, killed by Joker, came back evil and thicc as Red Hood and nearly killed Robin 3
Has the Bad Juice in him cuz of being brought back from the dead so he has Pit Rage, which most people apparently only get for a little bit and then either die or go permanently insane
Tim Drake - Robin 3, abandoned rich kid who blackmailed Bruce into letting him be Robin after Jason died, because Jason was his hero and Tim thinks Batman needs a Robin to stay sane. He’s right, but was Robin-fired basically as soon as Damian showed up, is Red Robin now
Never sleeps, overcaffeinated at all times, a better detective than Bruce and a supervillain in basically every AU
Used to be bi but is legally gay now apparently
Stephanie Brown - girl Robin, far superior as Spoiler and Bat Girl, sassy bitch who tells Bruce to fuck off the most of all the Robins ever and this is an Achievement she must fight for constantly but always wins
Cassandra Cain - assassin baby of Lady Shiva, not taught to talk by her dad cuz he sucks, semi- or nonverbal and deadass supernaturally good at reading people
Decided that killing was bad actually the first time she did it so fuck assassins she’s Black Bat/Batgirl/Orphan now and she does not have mouth holes in her mask (possibly because she is not white, depending on why you think Batman always has his)
Damian Wayne - Consequences from Bruce’s playboy slut days, he knocked up supervillain Talia Al Ghul and thus this bab was raised by assassins and thinks stabbing siblings is an acceptable greeting
Likes the animals and is secretly soft but will fucking kill you before he admits it
Duke Thomas - Criminally Underused, older than Damian but babiest bat as the Signal, Gotham’s only daytime hero and only meta hero. Second Black hero cuz Lucius Fox exists and so does his son
Never a Bruce-appointed Robin but was trained by 4 previous Robins (no idea where Steph was for this) simultaneously, swears as much as Jason but has living parents sometimes so that’s wild
Kate Kane - Batwoman, definitely fucks
Luke Fox - I think he is Lucius’ son, Lucius made all the bat tech but Luke is going to punch bad guys directly, has a hero name probably that might be fox related
Diana Prince - Wonder Woman, an Amazonian warrior who fucks with Cronos I guess
Donna Troy - I have never fucking seen her in dpxdc but she is Wonder Girl I think and she also fucks

Can you make smut of Clayton from Tarzan (From 1999 ofc)? He’s so hot OML I need him so badly
MDNI18+ | fem!reader, age gap, pussy play, PIV, no protection, cumming inside, manhandling, ass slap (once), light choking, gun mention in the beginning, terms like 'old cock' & 'young pussy', reader says it hurts once

There’s absolutely no reason for you to be attracted to him. He’s rude, arrogant…older. So much older than you that you can see the streaks of gray on the sides of his head. Had you never gone on this trip for your university project, you would have never met him. You would have never felt the way you’re feeling right now.
And gosh, you’re feeling it.
Mr. Clayton’s busy shining his gun. With a soft rag, he runs the material up and down the barrel. He gets to the muzzle, dipping his fingers deeply where the bullets come out. You can’t help but stare at his fat digits fingering the muzzle. In and out, in and out. Your stomach dips, and a small whimper leaves your lips.
“I’m sorry?”
“Huh?” You turn your head to Jane. She’s staring at you with her bright, green eyes. Jane is nice, polite. The only girl here other than yourself. She tilts her head to the side, “I thought you said something.”
You nervously tuck a strand of hair behind your head. “Oh no. I was just clearing my throat.” Jane makes an ‘o’ shape with her pink lips and nods. You dust your hands on your shorts, standing. As much as you love watching Mr. Clayton getting touchy with his rifle, it’s probably better for you to be somewhere where you won’t moan out loud.
“I think I’m gonna head towards camp. Need to reapply sunblock and all that.” You wave Jane goodbye and give Clayton one last glance before you make your way.
Camp is a little walk from where you were with Jane. The Professor, Mr. Porter, stressed the importance of setting up your studies and research in a different location. We don’t want to make the natives here uncomfortable with all of our tools. He had said. But it won’t be too far!
However, you think Professor Porter must have changed the location because you can’t find where it last was. You forgot which way the sun came up and being surrounded by trees and bushes makes it seem as if you’re walking in circles. Rather than getting more lost, you turn around, going back from the way you came.
Only you don’t find the research location. You don’t see the red of Jane’s hair, but the green of leaves instead. Panic begins to set in. It creeps up your spine and takes hold of your heart, but you keep the fear at bay.
There’s still light out, you’ll be fine. You nod to yourself, running a stressed hand through your hair. You’re right, you just need to calm down. Freaking out won’t help and aimlessly wandering won’t either. You put your back against a tree, opting to stay in one place until they notice you’ve been gone and find you. There’s no way you’re that far from them, they'll find you soon enough.
But the sun moves quicker than you thought. The sounds of nature bring you more terror than peace as the sky darkens. It’s gotten cold, and your only light source is the stars and moon. You wrap your arms around your body to conserve heat, trying your best not to cry. Deep breaths. Just take deep breaths. You’re in the middle of doing your breathing exercises when you hear something move in the bushes.
Your head snaps up, eyes wide as you try and make sense of the dark scene in front of you. It’s hard to see anything five feet away, but it’s hard to miss the rustle of leaves and the sounds of heavy footsteps. Mr. Clayton had warned you of apes. Beasts that tear open humans with a mere hand. Professor Porter had told you not to worry about such animals, they’re harmless most of the time, but Clayton’s warnings ring in your ear as you stare at the dark silhouette.
Rather than an ape, it’s Mr. Clayton emerging instead. He steps into the moonlight, his hard features seeming sharper from the shadows. He looks stressed, angry, but when his eyes meet your terrified ones, relieved.
“Jesus fucking christ! We’ve got the whole camp looking for you! Do you know how long I’ve been walking around this fucking jungle?”
You mean to say something, anything, but you can’t help the sob that erupts from your throat at the sight of him.
He stops in his tracks, rolling his eyes and resuming his steps. He swoops you in his arms, letting you get snot and tears on his chest while you gasp out thank you’s and I'm sorry's.
“And you’re a crybaby. Just my luck.”
-
Everyone was bombarding you when you arrived at camp in Mr. Clayton’s arms. Where were you? How did you get lost? Are you hurt? Professor Porter had to calm everyone down, telling them that you must be hungry and tired. And you were. Your stomach was growling and you nearly ate Jane’s leftovers once you were back in your tents.
“Oh my! Do you want me to get another serving?” Jane innocently questioned, but you shook your head. “No, thanks. I think I’ll explode if I take another bite.” You both giggle, setting the empty plates down. The atmosphere suddenly grows serious, a little tense that you wiggle on your sleeping bag.
“He was really worried, you know,” she says suddenly. Her eyes pierce through yours, making you shiver. “Who? Professor Porter?”
She shakes her head, “My. Clayton.”
Oh. You blink. “He was?” Jane nods, “He was running around the area like a madman. Asking if anyone’s seen you at all. I think it was just because no one’s ever gotten lost on his watch. It looked like his veins were gonna burst.”
Jane is shaking her head in disapproval, but you’re in disbelief. You’ve hardly spoken to him, and even though logically anyone would have been worried, you can’t help the warm feeling bubbling in your stomach.
“He uh…he was worried?”
Jane shrugs, “I wouldn’t say worried. More like his ego got hurt or something. I can’t see that man caring about anything but himself.” Granted, a lot of people don’t like Mr. Clayton’s rough personality, but you’re still surprised to hear someone so open about their dislike. You play with the loose threads of your sleeping bag, “I don’t think he’s too bad.”
You regret those words as soon as you say them. Jane’s eyes widen and you can see her smile forming from the little lantern in the tent. “Shut up! You like him?!”
“No!” But you said it too quickly, too eagerly that it only makes her smile widen. “I don’t.” You’re still persistent. “I just…he saved me and whatever! I can’t hate him after that.”
Jane nods, but she’s still grinning. “Riiight.” She chuckles at your blushing face. “You know, I heard he stays up late in his tent. Alone. He might want to know how grateful you are to him.” You roll your eyes at her, shaking your head, but the idea isn’t too bad. There’s nothing wrong with saying thank you without crying.
You clear your throat, “That’s a stupid idea.”
“It is.” “And he’ll most likely yell at me for leaving my tent this late.” “He might.”
You look around the tent, mind racing with different scenarios of what could happen if you went to Mr. Clayton.
With a resolution, you gather the empty plates and kneel-walk to the zipper entrance. “I’m gonna put these back. Don’t wait up on me.”
The last things you hear are Jane’s laughter and a quiet go-get-'em tiger!
-
Mr. Clayton’s tent is further than the rest of the camps. His weapons are a hazard, so Professor Porter thought it would have been better for him to sleep further away from curious hands. Clayton seems to hardly mind the fact that he’s isolated, he lavishes on it really.
His self-care time is up though as you get closer to his tent, without getting lost of course. There’s nowhere to knock, so you awkwardly clear your throat right in front of the entrance. “Uh…Mr. Clayton?”
You can hear him rustling in the tent, steps getting closer. A large hand breaks through the cloth and pushes it to the side until you’re faced with his chest. He’s wearing a white tank top, the peak of his chest hair curling at the top. His arms widen as he crosses them over his chest, looking down at your much smaller form.
“Oh…little wanderer. Did you get lost again?”
Something in your curls. Heat flushes your cheeks and your legs tremble. “I…” you nervously laugh. “No. I just um, wanted to thank you…without crying this time.”
His lips pull back into a smile, almost threateningly. A soft chuckle vibrates from his chest, “I’m your guide. It’s my job to keep you guys safe.” He eyes you curiously, dangerously. Something foreign flicks in them, but he clears his throat. “But thank you. I don’t suppose you risked getting lost just to thank little ‘ol me?”
You laugh, “A risk I was willing to take.”
The air grows thick, a tense layer over the atmosphere that nearly makes you whine from the sheer feeling. Mr. Clayton smirks, as if sensing the shift that leaves you melting.
“Want to come in? I could give you a few tips on how to not get lost.” His teeth gleam in the moonlight, and you find yourself aimlessly nodding. He pulls the curtain back more for you to fit. A part of you expected to collapse the moment you took the first few steps, but you don’t. The first wave of arousal hits you as you enter his space. Clayton’s tent is filled with the scent of him, dominating and possessive. Your skin grows sensitive, so much so that you whimper when he puts his hand on your lower back to guide you further in.
“It might look a little scary in here at first, but I promise my things don’t bite.” Clayton puts both his hands on the dips of your hips. There’s nothing more you want to do than push back, to feel his large body encompass yours. To have his hands travel forward, to touch and grope your flesh until you're begging for something more. But he doesn't, either too focused on his objects or keeping himself in control.
You gasp when he squeezes your hips. A silent plea, an invitation he wants you to take.
“What if…” you can feel your heart racing. “What if I want them to bite?”
A low vibration comes from his chest that makes you whimper. Clayton finally pulls you closer to him until your back is fully nestled into his front, letting you get a feel of something rather large grinding against your ass. He uses a thick hand to tilt your head up, forcing you to look into his aroused eyes.
“Do you know what you’re asking from me, wanderer?” Clayton sounds gruff, murmuring. His lips are so close to your own. You open your mouth to answer, but his grip on your throat tightens so you nod.
It’s all he needs to close the gap between you two. His lips are rough and dominating. There’s a sense of urgency on the tongue he eagerly slides into your mouth. You take it. You take his bruising grip, the possessive kiss that leaves you breathless. Your hands reach back, trying to grip his hands, his hair, anything. You’ve waited so long for this, for him. If it wasn’t for Mr. Clayton holding you, your legs would have given out.
He pulls away with a groan, walking you to his table before bending you over it. A hand knots itself in your hair as your cheek is pressed against the wooden material. Your heart thuds in your chest, legs shaking as Mr. Clayton’s free hand massages the flesh of your arse.
“This ass. I don’t think you understand how much I love looking at this fucking thing.” Clayton squeezes the plumpness, earning a whine from your lips.
“Harder,” you moan, wiggling your hips. “Touch me harder.”
An amused scoff comes from behind you. Clayton opts to completely remove your bottoms and underwear, watching the string of arousal that connects to it. He takes a sharp breath at the sight of your bare cunt swollen and leaky. His fingers react before his mind does to feel how wet you are. You mewl, getting on your tippy toes so he can have more access.
Clayton laughs, “God, fuck. Look at how wet this pussy is. You’re giving it up this easy for an old man like me? You’re really a slut, aren’t you?”
You try and shake your head against his grip, but to no avail. “You’re not old. Not at all. I…I never do this type of thing. I…I just want you.” Mr. Clayton hums, “Want me? How?”
Of course he’s going to make you say it. “In me. Wanna feel your cock in my pussy. I’m so wet, can’t you feel it? Mr. Clayton, I’m going to die if you don’t fuck me.” You’re restless now. Wiggling your hips pathetically to have a finger slip in. He lets you hump his hand for mere seconds before pulling away. You whine, opening your mouth enough for him to slip his other fingers into your mouth. It subdues you, sucking and licking on his salty digits.
A grin appears on his face. “You don’t do this? Seems like a dirty lie to me. Look at you, trying to fuck yourself on my hand and sucking my fingers like a cock. Tell me the truth, wanderer. You are a slut.”
You whimper against his fingers, but the excitement quickly replaces the embarrassment. The sound of a zipper and the ruffling of clothes has you anticipating. You moan and suck on Clayton’s digits harder. Drool seeps from the corner of your mouth onto your cheek, leaving a mess.
Finally, you feel it. The hot, thick flesh bumping on your pussy. He feels huge, the tip easily covers your clit. Clayton rocks his hips against you, letting your bodies grind with a grip on your hip. You feel him lean his weight down on you, the pressure against your body adds to the pleasure.
“You feel that, wanderer? Feel that dick on your pussy?” You nod, you whine, you moan. It’s so close to the place you need him most. Truthfully, you could cum from the pussy play, but you want to cream with his cock in you.
“I feel it. Please, Mr. Clayton. Please,” you’re desperate. A part of you thinks he’ll laugh again, but he groans. Clayton straightens and adjusts his grip until one hand is on your waist and the other holds the base of his cock. Slowly, he drags his tip upwards until it catches your entrance. The excitement gets the best of you, cunt clenching so hard before he puts it in that he can’t even fit his tip.
“Fuck! Don’t tighten up like that,” Clayton lands a hand on your ass. You yelp from the impact, lurching forward and whimpering apologies. You relax your muscles, trying your best to stay still until the first feeling of pressure overcomes you. You welcome it, widening your legs and moaning as he slides in. It far from hurts, far from feeling even slightly uncomfortable. You've wanted this moment since you first arrived at this shit jungle, since you laid eyes on Mr. Clayton.
The stretch is so pleasurable that you think you’ll cum already. He said not to squeeze so much, but you truly can’t help the pulsing of your walls the moment he’s fully seated in you.
“ ‘m cumming. Mr. Clayton, you’re making me cum.”
Now he laughs. “I could tell. Got so much cream on my cock already.” You didn’t think he would give you a second to process your orgasm but still let out a surprised squeal when he pulls nearly all the way out and slams back in. Your cheek slides against the desk as he does it again and again, pulling out enough so he can see the white strings of your arousal on his pelvis. It’s an addicting sight: the bouncing of your hips, the opening of your cunt, and the little pucker of your ass.
Clayton moans, a deep sound that makes you whimper in reply. He’s feeling good. He’s feeling good because of you. The fact does things to your mind and you wish you could see his face screwed up in pleasure. Yet, there’s a weird sense of arousal not being able to see him. He can pound into as fast and hard as he wants, he can touch any part of you without you knowing which part is next. It fills you with pleasure knowing your body is at his whim, and that alone can make you finish again.
“Shit. Haven’t had young pussy in so long. You know how good you feel on my cock?” He slips his hand from your hip to your clit. “Shit, a little slut like you probably knows. You like my old cock, huh?”
You can’t even answer if you wanted to. His fingers are like magic on your cunt. Clayton is superb at multitasking, easily rubbing his rough fingers on your sensitive clit while maintaining a ruthless pace. You clench around him repeatedly, enough until he pinches your clit in defiance.
“Mmm- Mr. Clayton! That- oh fuck- that hurts.” You all but whine into the desk. Clayton uses two digits to have you slide against while he pounds into you. It’s unbearable, it makes you want to scream with overwhelming pleasure. Still, you take it. He hears how your whines turn into mewls. The pliant state you’re in makes his cock twitch.
“Hurts? Don’t lie, wanderer. Sluts like you always take what’s given to them.” You whimper in reply, trying to dig further into the table as if it will help with the immense pleasure.
“God, fuck. I’mma cum in you. Fill your young pussy up with my cum. You want it?”
Tears prick your eyes, happy tears. What a dream it is, to have Mr. Clayton fuck you raw, but to finish inside you? You never want to wake up. “So bad,” you babble. “So, so, so bad. Please cum in my young pussy. I want it.”
Clayton groans, steading both his hands on your hips so he can properly chase his impending orgasm. “Why? Tell me why.”
“Because I’m a slut. I’m such a slut. Please fuck me with your old cock, sir.”
That does it for him. Hot ropes of arousal shoot into your cunt. It fills you easily, little bits seeping from your cunt from the sheer amount. You gasp and moan, feeling how Mr. Clayton fucks his cum deeper into you while riding out his high. His shallow thrusts feel good in your abused pussy and you gladly let him use you to his fill.
The slide out makes both of you moan. A slick pop is soon followed by the oozing of cum down your thigh. Your upper body completely relaxes on the table while your legs tremble from keeping you upright. Clayton has yet to take his hands off you. His harsh grip turns soft as he tries to steady his breathing.
He looks down at you, your shirt slightly up so he can see your lower back. His thumb grazes the skin there and you shiver.
He smiles. Hopefully, your tent-mate won’t mind you spending the night elsewhere.

I feel like a lot of Kuai's clothes were just Bi-Han's hand-me-downs when Bi-Han got too big and they just threw it at Kuai since Kuai would be growing into it.
Not all of them were but I imagine a good portion of his clothes used to be Bi-Han's, especially before puberty.
I feel that will depend a lot on the timeline, socio-economic situation of Lin Kuei and how big the age gap is between brothers.
For example, if in the new timeline Sub-Zero and Scorpion’s family is treated like a true Royals, then Kuai Liang as the second-in-line to the “throne”  is less likely to wear hand-down clothes, unless the cloth has traditional importance, like it happens with some items passed down from one generation to another. And that could be as much about Grandmaster and his wife’s wish to give only the best to their sons as much as a matter of prestige and upholding their social status.
However, if despite the importance of the Grandmaster's role in leading the clan, Lin Kuei is in fact a large family unit first and foremost, with close personal bonds, I can see the clothes being handed down as a common practice - especially if the clan resources are limited. I mean, we hardly have any idea what Lin Kuei economy is based on in time of peace and there is something to say about Sub-Zero’s delight about spoils of war to which Scorpion did not disagree with the sole idea of spoils, only that they must first win the war.
Like, is Lin Kuei big enough to be a whole nation, with its industry, farming, cities and trade or do they live in isolated, self -sufficient society hidden from everyone else? Because to make clothes in the traditional way, you need specialized workers to hand -woven material in the first place, which takes time and a lot of hard work. The Lin Kuei brothers’ uniforms were most likely individually tailored which makes sense, as they are Grandmaster’s sons but also grown up and skilled men that worked hard to to be recognized as the warriors of the clan, but back in the time when they were children? It would be easier to store Bi-Han’s clothes until younger brothers grow up enough to wear them than to lose the limited material resources, as Kuai and presumably Tomas would outgrow the new clothes in a few months.
(Also, I’m speaking here from my family experiences, in which the clothes for babies and children were passed down between so many people over the course of years. So I’m here for Lin Kuei being the close-knit family that doesn’t mind hand down clothes between all the children as a way of supporting each other and providing the needed items. If Grandmaster’s family is a bigger unit, Bi-Han too could wear the hand down clothes before he grew up enough to get his own sets.)
Additionally, if Bi-Han and Kuai Liang (and Tomas) were close in age, the passing down of clothes feels natural and sensible. However if Bi-Han is older than 6-10 years or more, I don’t think his parents would store his baby/childhood clothes to collect dust and take up space in the closet, unless they planned to have another child at some point.
As for the previous timelines, I think the situation is more complicated, because both Kuai Liang and Bi-Han were children forced into Lin Kuei. And a clan that kidnapped children to turn them into killers doesn’t sound like someone who would care what Bi-Han and Kuai Liang wished to wear or after whom they got their clothes.
The clan definitely provided its adepts with the necessary daily life items, but there is a question how much any of them actually owned anything? If adepts got the second-handed clothes and things were passed down between all children, both Kuai Liang and Bi-Han had a small chance to be given a choice what is given to them (unless the original timeline!father had a say in that regard). Could Bi-Han keep his old clothes, as in, have a place to store them for Kuai Liang when he was big enough to wear it? Could he even hand down his clothes in the first place, or would the clan treat it as mandatory equipment and "losing" anything were punished? I feel that in both original and alternative timelines none of the boys have a control over the clothes provided them by clan and if Lin Kuei practiced passing down clothes from one adept to another, as a cheaper and more pragmatic way in regard to fast growing up children, Kuai Liang may not necessary getting old Bi-Han’s clothes.

Defining Ancestors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was also going to be another complex topic to dissect, but fortunately, complication and technicalities are not supposed to be the point of these posts.
Unfortunately, that's still something I have a hard time understanding.
The point of these posts are to categorize specific themes into notable groupings, and give said grouping a Name. This course of action will create a Terminology, and one that we can continue to use for the foreseeable lifetime of this blog.
Ancestors.
I give myself so so much runaround with the term.
We are trying to answer quite a lot of questions surrounding these characters, such as:
Who are they?
What are they?
How are they?
When are they?
And why are they?
And though I could spend an entire article on each of those, the goal here is to condense it down into a single sentence broadly and tactfully answering only as much of them as deemed necessary.
So first let's talk about Who they are.
There has been more and more dispute over the concept of Beings during the kingdom's history, notably/generally over firstly the Elders, and then more recently with the presence of the Embers on the horizon. The Elders and Embers both have a decent amount of evidence or rationalizations behind them being special Beings; functionally a different 'species' from the Ancestors.
But I think that we, and by we I mean me, need to stop getting distracted by the fact that all of these Beings are 'different' from each other. What matters, is that they all lived in the same kingdom at one point, one way or another. All of their eyes, all of their hands, have worked and toiled and led this kingdom to the point where it had once mightily stood. This belonging to a community is important, and needs to be contrasted with one notable thing;
They are not creatures.
At this point in the kingdom's history (as well as within the mid-phase concept art of the game) there was a clear categorical divide between Ancestors and creatures of Light, and I think that we can retain this divide to be used for the blog today. If creatures are pure Beings and Ancestors are not, then it is because Ancestors are not properly Connected to the Light.
We will go into this in further detail on another vocab post, but if we note Creatures as the 'natural' life flowing throughout the world, then we can counter that with the idea that:
Ancestors are the 'unnatural' presence in the world, due to their separation from the Light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We've got the first part of our Definition locked in with who and what they are, and the next question I want to ask is the last question I think we'll need, which I personally believe will be the most important:
When?
The term Ancestor should be a no brainer, and when we first hear the term in relation to a character it gives a pretty clear image in our mind almost immediately. Allow me to demonstrate the most perfect example that any kid who grew up on Disney movies will immediately understand:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[[[Scenes from Mulan, showing a man praying to his Ancestors to watch over and guide his family, and the Ancestors deciding how to help their descendant.]]]
Ancestor noun : "A person, typically one more remote than a grandparent, from whom one is descended."
It is still very up in the air whether ANY Beings physically/directly reproduce. They don't; I don't believe they do.
Due to this, we will assume for now that the term Ancestry in Sky refers not to a direct heritage of blood, but generational heritage. Even if Beings just materialize, fallen from the Sky, they are still found and raised by those who came before them, as we can see in Stargazer's memory. This heritage of raising the next Beings that appear is functionally "generational", and therefore once enough generations occur, at some point older generations can be considered a newer generation's ancestor.
Tumblr media
But where do we draw the line? Where is the exact moment when our nearest/youngest Ancestors existed? Or more specifically, when?
Fortunately, the answer we need is pretty simple, even though it's about to help us all tie it together.
We know Ancestors possibly survived "the Event" at Eden, but we can't know if any were 'born' into the world after the apocalyptic fallout at the end of the war.
We don't know how soon the 'first' Descendants started appearing down in the world. While I'd argue the very first players at the beginning of Launch were the first Descendants, some theorists argue that this is not provable, and perhaps Descendants were canonically born even before the first players started playing.
The complications and the discourse is chaotic and uncoordinated as ever; what else is new? But I have an easy way to nip this in the bud and make a clear cut decision for everyone, that I believe TGC would clearly prefer us to have implied is the most direct "truth" to our "when".
Any Ancestors, Elders, or Embers that existed BEFORE the 'Explosion' occurred during the Eden Event, are definitively Ancestors.
And from here let's make it just that much simpler with that study we did earlier up there on what is Nature and what is not.
Tumblr media
Unnatural Beings that existed before the 'Explosion' occurred during the Eden Event, are definitively Ancestors.
Tumblr media
And there we have it! This is the Definition I think we can confidently leave this at for now. Of course it can get deeper then this, but I need to sleep, and the loyal one or two people who read this deserve a break. Thank you so much for reading, and have a good day/night, y'all!
Tumblr media
I really hope I get on the next one (or two or three) soon and not get stuck again.

ARIA - Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant | AI!Reader in the Krang Apocalypse
Gen
Part 2
Pairings: None
Characters included: Future!Donatello, Future!Michelangelo, Future!S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N
Warnings: n/a
Series: Part 1
Summary: Donnie is stretched thin in the apocalypse. Everyone needs the help of the genius but there is always so much to do, even with the help of his family and Shelldon.
But luckily Donnie is a genius inventor. Might as well create a robot that is simply there to answer everyones question.
Thus the Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant, aka ARIA, was born.
Word count: 2539
Authors Note: This is just a personal project I will work on in between Dream World and my college work. I just love the idea of Donnie creating a second AI and Shelldon immediately taking the mantle of the older brother. I just wanna write the robot siblings causing chaos while Donnie scrambles behind his robot kids to make sure no one dies. Also i just wanted to take the chance to maybe write in the future Casey jr and Shelldon hang out bc you can't tell me those two wouldn't kinda think of each other as cousins lmao
Also I gave Reader a name (Aria) in this one but Y/N will be used sometimes at some point in the future.
Tumblr media
In the apocalypse Donnie’s mind has probably become one of the most important assets. He provides clean water, weapons, protection, and intel. And he makes it look so easy. You had a problem? He probably has multiple ways to solve it for you.
The thing was everyone had some kind of problem.
“Hey Donatello, we have problems with this water purifier. We can’t find the correct replacement parts, do you know what we can do instead?”
“Oh, Mister Donatello! We are trying to bioengineer crops that work well with the destroyed soil here somewhat. We need your expertise!”
“Aha, Donnie! Our weapons seem to be less effective against the Krang. Got something to juice our weapons up more?”
“Donnie, we really need you for this recon mission to determine what the Krang are building there.”
“Donnie, how is your research going into reversing the effects of Krang infection?”
“Donnie, we need more prosthetic limbs.”
“Donnie, medical supplies are running low. We need a proper substitute if possible.”
“Donnie, you really should sleep more.”
Hah, sleep.
Sleep felt like it was only a distant memory at this point.
He wanted to help! He really did but it was just impossible to follow every inquiry with the same priority. Either because some things were frankly impossible at the moment, they didn’t have the correct materials for the project or there just wasn’t enough time.
There was always so much to do and never enough time.
Even with the help of his brothers and sister. The work seemed never ending.
So, as a way to try to mitigate it, Donnie decided to upgrade Shelldon. Over the years the bot made great strides when it came to learning more about behavior and seemed to get better at interacting with people. His rebelliousness faded over the years. Understanding that there were more important things to do and if he can help his creator, or father as he began calling him over the years, then so be it.
That said he still acted often more like a young teenager than the recon bot he was supposed to be. Frankly Donnie giving Shelldon proper limbs like legs, arms and of course hands seemed to have enabled him more when it came to his mischievous behavior. Now being able to interact better with the world around him.
Still, he was reliable and was able to assist with recon missions and relay important information from one point to another in record speed.
Besides, Donnie would never admit it out loud, but he did appreciate Shelldon’s attitude somewhat. Somehow his mischievous behavior brought him a sense of normalcy. Something that survived the start of the apocalypse. Sure, he was an AI and part of this could be then attributed towards Donnie’s programming but still. A lot Shelldon learned himself. Even more he seemed to have picked up from Donnie’s family to his chagrin.
As much as Shelldon helped him out though it never seemed enough. Shelldon was meant more for recon rather than as an information bank to help other parts of the resistance.
There was a knock on the door to his workshop. Donatello didn’t even bother answering already knowing it was Mikey who would just let himself in. If Leo, Raph or April did that he’d make an annoyed comment. Mikey had the younger brother privileges. Not at all times but most times.
Enough to particularly annoy Leo with that fact.
“What can I do for you, Mikey?” Donnie asked as he hurriedly continued to type on his computer. New lines of code appearing on the screen in a scarily fast tempo. His battleshell was laying on the ground against the desk. The design having become more sleek over the years. Though even in the apocalypse Donnie couldn’t help himself adding a few LED lights for the aesthetics.
The Krang were the absolute worst thing that ever happened to the world and the universe but when they do manage to liberate a Krang labor camp they did get access to interesting Krang materials that he didn’t hesitate to use for his own projects.
One such project was currently sitting on a workbench on the side connected to his computer with a ton of cables. Charging as he worked on upgrading the programming of his new invention.
Mikey was now standing behind his chair “We haven’t seen you longer than a few moments the last few week. We’ve been worried about you. Gotta eat and sleep, Donnie.”
He wanted to roll his eyes but his eyes were too busy scanning his code since there seemed to be some kind of mistake. Probably a missing semicolon.
“I am eating and taking rests. Don’t worry. Besides once I’m finished with this I will hopefully have an easier time taking breaks.”
This obviously piqued Mikey’s interest “Oh? Why is that? What are you working on?” He finally moved to his side, his eyes now scanning the code as well which was amusing to Donnie. Mikey probably tried to gleam any kind of information from it while barely know anything when it came to programming. Not that Donnie hasn’t tried teaching him. He never got past the basics with him.
But this was way past the basics. This was genuine GeniusTech programming that can create a sentient AI.
“I’m making an assistant.” He simply stated.
Mikey paused “What like… what? Isn’t Shelldon already kind of filling that role?”
Donnie tilted his head to one side and back, as if he was mulling this statement over “No. I want to create an assistant that can store a vast amount of information on all kinds of subjects while being able to autonomously do research shouldn’t the correct answers be there.”
“So, we don’t have to bug you anymore when asking you how god and the world work, eh?” He didn’t need to look at his younger brother to know that he was smirking. At this point this has been one of his biggest grievances after all. Sure, he loved infodumping but topics like the filter of a water purifier weren’t exactly on the top of that list.
“But more importantly.” Mikey drawled out the last word “Does that mean Shelldon will have a sibling?”
Donnie bristled at that, as well as a turtle can bristle “No! This is just my Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant. Nothing more. I’m building it to give us room to breath to work on more projects at the same time.”
His brother chuckled at his response “You say that but you aren’t even correcting Sheldon anymore when he calls you dad.”
He couldn’t even respond before Mikey spoke up again “Anyway, is that them?” Probably pointing to the slumped over robot on his workbench.
The robot was just like all his tech purple. The head was more humanoid in nature with a screen for where the face would be. They also had a shell on the back. Knowing Donnie there were probably a ton of hidden compartments that held all sorts of interesting gadgets. It was probably only around four feet tall which would put it around the same height as Shelldon.
This actually felt rather short even for Mikey nowadays. All the Hamato brothers have had growth spurts over the years. All but Mikey were almost towering over other humans at this point. This just seemed to be one of the other effects of originally being created to be soldiers to fight in a war against humanity.
It was a bit ironic and almost heartbreaking that this gave them now an edge while warring against the Krang. Even though Draxum created them for this reason he still seemed somewhat sad about that fact now. Though Mikey was sure he was the only one who noticed that about the goat yokai. He was probably the only one who could read the yokai almost like an open book at this point.
Donnie’s gaze flitted over to his workbench, looking at the robot that Mikey was now closely scrutinizing without actually touching it “Yeah, yeah. That’s the Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant. Or will be.”
Mikey furrowed his brows, his hand running through his short black hair that he was slowly growing out, mostly on Donnie’s orders since he was still a bit perplexed by his sudden hair growth “Why not just call them Aria. Seems easier than to say the whole name out loud.”
“Yeah, yeah. Sure. Aria.” Donnie sighed.
“Shelly knows about them, right? Like he has to since you work on them in the open like that.”
Donnie scoffed at that “Of course he knows. He helped assemble the pieces and calibrated the joins while I worked on other things or the code.”
“That might explain why he has been more high energy than usual.”
“I swear if Shelldon touched one of the Krang energy cells again-“
Mikey laughed “Nah, I think he is just excited at having another robot around soon.”
Donnie didn’t respond to that. He was too busy adding more lines of code. Everyone seemed somehow way more excited at his new invention than he anticipated. Aria, as Mikey had dubbed it now, would be hopefully a big asset in the base.
“Anyways. Stop working on them. It’s Hamato dinner time. I was supposed to just grab you. Let’s go Donnie, we actually scrounged up some nice ingredients for once. Come on, come on. I cooked real food after ages.”
The prospect of honest to god real food sounded fantastic. It sounded so good after months of just military rations that he immediately saved his project and got out of his chair to put on his battleshell. It was just dinner with the family but especially nowadays he despised walking around without his artificial shell.
After being caught in a fight without it he almost glued the piece of tech on him. He even slept with it on for a while. His brothers had to practically peel him out of it. Leo then had to take care of any chafing on his soft shell. This whole experience was unpleasant enough that he learned to at least take it off again when he sleeps or when he is hunkered down for days in his workshop.
“Food sounds good.” He agreed as he followed his brother out towards where his family was undoubtedly waiting for them. If they started without them Mikey would probably beat them all up. Knowing him he probably wanted to see everyone’s reaction to his cooking after such a long time.
It took a good while longer for the work on Aria to progress. A lot came in the way of that but Donnie tried his best to work on this project whenever he could.
Donnie was currently working on Shelldon’s left arm that got a bit jostled during his last recon mission. He had to admit he always felt a few trepidations when he sent out Shelldon with others for missions. This time it seemed somewhat warranted since a Krangified human apparently got close enough to get ahold of him to pull his arm out of its socket. Were he a living being trying to set the arm back in would be painful as all can be but luckily for Shelldon this was mostly a thing of moving it back in and just repairing and fastening screws to hold it in place.
Maybe he should upgrade Shelldon again and give him even more defensive capabilities even if it’d slow him down.
A metallic scratching sound pulled him out of his thoughts “Shelldon. What are you doing?”
Shelldon was using his other arm to look at the exposed wiring and exoskeleton of the robot next to him. Aria was still sitting on the workbench slowly collecting dust.
“Just seeing if I can do something while you work on me, dad. I wanna see them finally come online.” He simply replied.
Donnie pulled one small screw tighter “If you want we can work on it more once I’m done with your arm.”
Even if Shelldon was incapable of an actual smile due to his build, Donnie swore he could see him do so in his own way. He obviously perked up at the prospect.
And as promised as soon as the arm worked again and was calibrated to Donnie’s standards, which took way longer than Shelldon would have liked, they jumped at completing the chassis.
Completing the code took longer than that. It took a couple more weeks between missions and work for Donnie to feel confident enough in his work to try to activate the robot for a test. He just wanted to see if his code started up correctly.
Shelldon was at Aria’s side while Donnie worked on the computer side of things. Starting up multiple of his analysis programs to record how the technology worked with each other. If there were parts that unexpectantly heated up for example.
He pressed on his enter key to start up the Aria program. Immediately turning around to see his GeniusTech logo appearing on the screen of Aria’s face.
A few commands appeared. Showing him exactly what programs started and loaded up only to disappear again and a pixelated face in a neutral expression appeared. Huh, he swore he designed it in such a way that it should start with a resting expression.
Aria blinked.
“Hello. I am your Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant. How may I help you?”
Donnie couldn’t help his glee as he yelled out “By Galileo! It works!” It loaded up and reacted just how he wanted when being approached by someone else. There was definitely too much static in their voice and there was a weird echoing effect on it. Something he will have to work on.
But now to test its capabilities.
Something easy to test the waters.
“At what temperature does water boil?”
The response was immediate “Water begins to boil at 99.97 °C, 211.9 °F and 373.15 Kelvin.”
Ah just as precise as he had hoped.
“Explain to me what the measurement of metal strength is.”
Once again, the response was fast “Tensile strength is a value that indicates a metal's ability to resist deformation and failure when loads are applied that pull it apart. Tensile strength is typically quantified through units of pounds per square inch, PSI, or pascals, Pa.”
Perfect! Now what else should he ask to really test their ability to pull the correct knowledge out. What would be a complicated enough question?
“Brah. Come on. They just came online! Do you just want to quiz them?” Shelldon whined. Sometimes Donnie was really confused where he got his attitude and speech pattern from. Then again Leo did sabotage him years ago.
Sighing, he relented “Alright. Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant. Register an alias for yourself.”
They tilted their head to the side to look at him inquisitively “What name do you want me to register?”
Shelldon’s head snapped up to his creator. There was something pleading in the way he acted and looked at him. Donnie nodded.
The turtle robot walked in front of the new one “Aria. A-R-I-A.”
“Aria.” They repeated. “The name has been registered as an alias. You may refer to me now as such.”

What fashion types would Sector V have? Going beyond "core" type stuff. What would they feel most comfortable wearing? Bonus if it's for both causal and "going out"/fancy.
I definitely have thought about this a lot let's see
Nigel- Well, Nigel is weird because his canon clothing choices are baffling. But you gotta respect it. Shorts in the winter?? Sure. I think Nigel always leans towards looking "put together". Even his most casual outfits will have a clean, sharp quality to them. I definitely subscribe to the idea that he wears leather jackets as a teenager, but as he gets older his style becomes more like "library employee". Sweater vests and always an ironed pair of slacks. Cozy but classy sweaters.
Here's some examples from raverly cuz this is how my brain works now I guess
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another important point about what Nigel wears is that he converts to Judaism as an adult when he marries Lizzie. So throw in some cute fair-isle kippahs.
I always imagined Nigel prefers muted colors, of course leaning towards warmer palettes.
Nigel's formal and casual outfits definitely overlap, but we see in the show that he enjoys dressing black tie given the opportunity (though, notably with a bowtie, not a necktie haha). So in a very formal setting, he's breaking out the James Bond style suits.
Hoagie- I had to rethink the way I make Hoagie dress after my gender headcanons changed for her rather dramatically. But in high school, it's the same because she's not fully out yet. She relies on button down shirts with fun patterns and ironic graphic tees so that she doesn't have to spend much time thinking about what she's wearing, and during this time in particular, I imagine she had a somewhat emo-lite style going on (a lot of black in that waredrobe).
After she starts dressing in a way that's more comfortable for her, I like to draw her in loose, comfortable blouses. I think she still prefers pants over skirts so that she can move freely. And a comfortable pair of sneakers or loafers with added support is important.
This is again a circumstance where casual and formal outfits can overlap. I could see Hoagie not being very good with dressing very formal, preferring to be comfortable. I need to play around with all these ideas for her though.
Kuki- Big, oversized, comfy!!!!!! and CUTE!!!! She loves skirts and tights, not a huge fan of pants but will wear shorts if she has to (shorts with thick leggings underneath if it's cold out). She likes her clothes to be roomy for sensory reasons, and she loves to flap her long sleeves. Another sensory thing is texture- the clothes that touch her skin gotta be soft. I project a lot of my sensory particularities onto her, so she hates denim and any thin, plasticy feeling material. She won't wear something if it's not cute. Bright colors are preferred.
She loves dressing up as a teenager. Knee-length prom-style dresses with frills and glitter are fun!
As she grows up, she has to dress more refined. She still doesn't wear pants, preferring dress suits instead. She doesn't actually like wearing dress suits, but she has to for work. The second she gets home, the comfy clothes come on. There's always a little trace of her personality still on her work and formal clothes as an adult- a little hint of color or something.
Wally- This kid barely gets any new clothes through his adolescence. His sweatshirts and pants are all old, worn out, dirty and gross. This is partially because his parents can't afford much, but he's also resistant to change like that. He likes the clothes he has, they're comfortable and worn-in. He doesn't like the idea of new stuff. Wally likes oversized clothes, too. Baggy sweatshirts and baggy blue jeans. His jeans either have to be hemmed shorter by his mom or they get all muddy and ripped up at the bottom, because they're too long for him. He doesn't care about looking "good", he only cares about looking "like a boy" (based on his own definition of what that means).
Don't bother asking him to dress nice for a formal event. He's just gonna show up in one of these:
Tumblr media
In med school and as a doctor, he has to conform to some degree. I've always had this ridiculous headcanon that in med school he starts wearing polo shirts with popped collars, like a classic douchebag. He starts caring about his clothes getting ruined, because clothes have become a status symbol thing to him, and also because he's not used to the idea of "just buying new ones". His clothes still stay comfortable as much as possible, though. He will wear jeans and a t-shirt any time he can. And of course, scrubs are a must. As an adult, he can get through a formal event, but only just barely. He will never know what he's doing in that regard.
Abby- She's a stud, this is so important to my version of her. Her style is kind of "butch-athletic", with relaxed jeans, big t-shirts, jerseys and jackets. And nice sneakers.
(images from pintrest)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Note that unlike these images, Abby doesn't wear makeup)
A good real life style reference for Abby is the musician Syd
Tumblr media
Abby also prefers to keep her hair in protective styles as much as possible, for ease. Since she can't keep her hair like that all the time, in-between styles she still keeps it gently out of the way.
Her style is always pretty casual, but it's easy to dress it up with smart blazers! As an adult, she leans towards casual-ish pants suits. Blazers with regular undershirts and relaxed slacks.

Wardrobe Crisis
Plot: You have a bit of a clothing problem.
Characters: (In order) Ayato, Diluc, Childe (Tartaglia, Ajax)
Warning: Not proofread. If there are any major mistakes let me know. Also, depiction of violence in Childe??? But it's all jokingly.
P.S As you can tell...I used the rich characters, because if this were real life (which it's not...T-T) I'd feel just a bit less guilty if they bought me something. This is also purely self-indulgent...and um I tried not to make it obvious who my favorite is...but i think i failed.
Ayato
"No no no no no!" You paced around the room in a frantic frenzy, throwing clothes and shoes all over the place.
Ayato sat in your shared bed, looking at you with an amused glint shinning in his eyes. He let you pace around for a few more minutes before asking, "Is everything alright, princess?"
Did he really just ask that? You held back your sigh and turned to hi, crossing your arms, "Do I look 'alright'?"
He had to chuckle, you being worked up was cute, "Well what's wrong?"
"I had this whole outfit ready for the event tonight, but now I can't find it anywhere." You explained, "And that's the only thing I really had to wear."
Ayato hummed and then said, "Ah yes, that outfit. I have not seen it but I'm sure you have something else."
You shook your head, "All the other ones are worn out, and you yourself said this was a very important event with really important people."
"I see. Well, how about we go and find you something, hm?"
You sighed, taking a deep breath, "I'm broke." You grabbed your wallet and flipped it over, letting a few dust particles to fall out.
Ayato laughed and shook his head, "I'll get it for you."
"You've already given me too much I can't keep leeching off you!" You sighed, again.
He stood from the bed and walked over next to you, grabbing you by the waist and holding you close against you, "You're not leeching off me. I love you. And this is one of the ways I can show you that."
You had no time, so you had to accept.
"Thank you, again." You said in your brand new outfit.
He tucked some of your hair behind your ear (or smoothed it down if you have shorter hair) and pecked your lips with a quick kiss, "No thank you for allowing me to lay my eyes on such a beautiful sight."
Diluc
You sat in your shared bed staring at some of your older clothes which you would usually wear on a daily basis.
Diluc had been off at work all day and you'd been cleaning out your closet (the dust and such), using all kids of cleaning products, when you stained your clothes.
After trying for many hours to get the discoloration to stop, you had only made it worse, and your clothes had seen their last day of light. Ad you could only ask yourself one thing: What would you wear now??
Those were your favorites and the ones you felt the most comfortable in. Any other pieces of clothing, you simply left to collect dust at the ends of your closet. But not these. These were the ones you felt like you could rule the world in. And now they were ruined.
You don't know how long you had been sitting on the bed staring at the clothes and trying to think of what to do now and how to explain to Diluc that you maybe had also ruined one of is coats..... heh
But you heard the door open and in came a very tired winery owner. He looked at the clothes that were spread out on the clothes then raised an eyebrow and looked at you, "Is everything alright, my love?"
You sighed and decided to not hide it, "No. I was cleaning the closet because it was really dusty and dirty and I was too lazy to empty it out and well....." You sighed again and motioned to the clothes.
Diluc wasn't upset at all. He was actually relieved that was the only problem. He sat next to you, his weight making the bed dip in his direction and asking you lean against him, "Materials things can be replaced."
You held back your tears, "But I also ruined one of your coats." You said, waiting for his scolding.
"And that can also be replaced. I have plenty others. Why don't we go shopping tomorrow. I won't have to work at the tavern so after I'm done with my morning duties, I can accompany you." He reached over with his hand and smoothed down your hair.
You nodded and turned to hug him, "Okay, but I'll be buying them. I ruined it after all."
"How about you buy me the new coat and I'll buy you your new clothes. You may pick it as well." He stood up to pick up the clothes on the floor and you quickly joined him, "Okay ...so it can be white then right? I wanna see you in white."
Diluc pursed his lips, "Let's stick to black."
"But you said I could pick." You smirked.
That argument didn't end any time soon.
Childe
"Oh, (Y/n)!!" Childe waved to you from across street, bag in the air, "Guess what I got!"
You looked around and tried to find an exit. You didn't know this crazy man...you didn’t...nope...
He ran across and handed you the bag, inside there was a dress you had commented was cute the other day.
"Ajax....!!"" You whisper shouted, "We agreed you wouldn't buy me unnecessary things anymore! My closet is exploding and so is my house. My cousin thinks I have a hoarding problem."
He smirked, "There is a simply solution to this."
You crossed your arms and raised an eyebrow, "Oh really?"
"Move in with me. I have plenty of space." He said with a wink.
You sighed, "It's not that simple. And anyways you're barely home anyways."
"Ouch. Slap me instead won't you." He placed a hand over his heart.
"I should." You glared, "Stop wasting money on me."
He crossed his arms to form an X and then glared at you, "Stop!!" He grabbed your hands and brought them up, placing a gently kiss on each and then looking at you, "You've never been and never will be a waste." He leaned forward placing a kiss on your forehead and then grabbing the bag to carry himself, "Now let's go find matching shoes."
"You completely missed the point!!" You said blushing. His flirting was not going to distract you from what you were trying to prove.
"There was a point?" He asked, already walking.
You groaned and followed him. When would he learn to listen, "This is the last one for at least the next few months and I get to treat you to lunch today."
Childe thought back to his schedule and once how was sure he had the rest of the day off he agreed, "Alright lunch it is."
You smiled and hugged his arm as you walked, "Really?"
"Yes, I have the rest of the day off. But you have to wear this dress. And the shoes we get." He said with a sly smile. Well, he already bought it so might as well. At this rate you'd have a different outfit for every day of the year...you really did have to do something about all those clothes.

Complete Crack but...Johnny Cage from mortal combat meets AC? I'm sure Altair and Ratonhnhaké:ton would probably find him annoying lol Ezio might find him funny.
I see your Mortal Kombat x Assassin’s Creed Crack and raise you:
“Johnny Cage meets Desmond’s ancestors as Desmond’s new boyfriend” XD
Maybe this would be like a modern day AU and, since Mortal Kombat does deal with the whole ‘there are a thousand realms out there’, we can easily make this work by saying that this modern day AU is set in either EarthRealm of MK or a whole different realm altogether.
Anyway, the idea would be that Johnny Cage is still a famous actor who just happens to frequent the bar Desmond works at and they get to talking, maybe it even starts off as a hush-hush friends-with-benefits kind of deal that ends up having feelings.
So now, Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton have to meet their cousin’s first serious relationship and it turns out to be Johnny freaking Cage of all people!
Unorganized Notes:
Johnny’s meeting Desmond’s cousins because, as far as Desmond is concerned, his real family is his cousins and not the ‘dad we do not talk about’.
Johnny would definitely understand what Desmond isn’t saying. He had a bad father too (understatement) so Desmond doesn’t really need to explain it to him and Desmond is grateful for it.
Because of this, the cousins would be quite hard on Johnny with Ezio being the ‘kindest’ of the three. That means Ezio is the scariest of the three though since he’s hiding his ‘hostility’ with his air of charm.
They’re all still Assassins but Desmond technically isn’t. In the eyes of the Brotherhood, his cousins compose one cell and he’s pretty much just family. The Brotherhood does become a bit ansty once words get out of some random bartender being seen as Johnny Cage’s plus-one in events. Some even ‘suggests’ that the cousins sabotage Desmond’s relationship but they all grow quiet when they get glared and threatened because, as much as they think Johnny isn’t enough and Desmond could definitely do better, they will accept him for as long as Desmond loves him.
Cassie Cage exists and she absolutely loves reminding her dad that Desmond is just a few years older than her. She gets a lot of selfies with Desmond and her followers love them because of how charmingly awkward Desmond’s smiles are in the pictures. The candid shots of Desmond’s professional bartender smile though gets lots of love as well… for different reasons.
It would be funny if this is set in MK world and, yeah, the Brotherhood operates there and Desmond’s ancestors are his cousins BUT…
Desmond himself is the Desmond Miles we know from the AC games that have been transported into MK’s Desmond Miles’ body after he activated the device in the Grand Temple. Bonus points if he gets transferred to the MK world via memory transfer that MK Desmond Miles remembered on December 21st when he was 25. Like, he’s both AC and MK world’s Desmond Miles and the only reason why this isn’t such a big deal is because Desmond is so chill by whatever fuckery gets thrown his way now.
This also gives us a bit of angst material as Desmond wants his cousins to approve Johnny because his cousins (for him) are also the three most important men in Desmond Miles’ lives back in the AC world so it would mean the world to him.
Btw… considering Spawn was a guest character for both MK and Soul Caliber and Ezio is a guest star of Soul Caliber, we can make an argument that MK, Soul Caliber, Spawn’s world and AC world are all ‘connected’. XD

BIONICLE Retrospective
2002: The Bohrok Swarms
Part 1.2: To Trap a Tahnok :REMASTERED:
It's a shame I couldn't get this one to go up on a Tahnok Tuesday, but doing that would mean waiting almost an entire week to post this and ehhh... I don't wanna.
So, the thing about 2002 is that, more than any other year of Bionicle, it is deeply repetitive. There's a lot of material for 2002, comics, mini-comics, web animations, a posthumous book. But a lot of it tends to cover the same events again and again. So when something like To Trap a Tahnok comes along, something that has its own completely unique story to tell, it's a breath of fresh air.
This comic does a lot of things I really like. Mostly little things, to be honest, but I'll start with a bigger one because it's worth mentioning. Because it is an original story unique to this medium, To Trap a Tahnok does not suffer from the same pacing issues as The Bohrok Awake did. It's not slow by any means, but each scene transition; which this issue actually has, already giving it a leg up over the breakneck velocity of its predecessor; happens comfortably, with none of the sequences feeling too cramped or too drawn out, making this issue an engaging but not tiresome read.
Tumblr media
What I truly enjoy about this issue though, are the snippets of character work and worldbuilding it provides. I've mentioned in an older post how much I enjoy the mention of time passing at the beginning of this comic, a week since the Bohrok's emergence, to be precise. This little nod to the passage of time is a positive addition for a number of reasons. It establishes how long the Bohrok have been active, of course, which can give readers a good impression of the state the island is likely in, given how much destruction the Bohrok have been shown to be capable of in a short span of time. It also plays into the sandbox formula used in 2001. From this point on, the story is suggested to unfold relatively quickly, but that's a whole week's worth of adventures for young fans (or less young fans, as the case may now be) to dream up and act out with their own toys, pitting the Toa against the Bohrok in their quest for the Krana.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Krana, this issue gives us our first look at Krana'd Lewa, and while he doesn't do anything, only briefly appearing at the end, this is another reason why the established time jump is important. We don't know how long Lewa was in that Nui-Rama hive wearing an Infected Kanohi, though his brief moment of clarity and the fact that he'd already finished collecting all his Kanohi by that point would suggest that it hadn't been very long. Here though, we know for certain that Lewa has been wearing this Krana for a week. No wonder it will have a much more lasting effect on him than the Infected Kanohi ever did.
Moving away from that one time mention though, I also want to commend the continued quality of the character work here. The Tahnok themselves are a main draw here, putting their dogged determination and surprising resourcefulness on full display, as well as showing off some of their Krana powers, something that doesn't seem to happen that often, honestly. We also get what is technically the first appearance of the Bahrag, though only their thoughts. They're not much more than generic ominous villains in the shadows at this point, but even this early their speech patterns are established and we get our first mentions of the "before-time" and the "restoration" of Mata Nui, which are also our first hints towards the Bohrok's true mission and its technical nobility. I do wonder how the Bahrag are aware of the island's name being Mata Nui, though. Perhaps "Mata Nui will be as it was in the before-time" actually refers to the robot, meaning Mata Nui, or rather the GSR, will be scoured clean and returned to its original state.
Tumblr media
The Toa do quite well for themselves here too. I only noticed when I made the original version of this review, but all of the Toa put in an appearance in this issue. Lewa, naturally, is sidelined, but the rest each have an opportunity to contribute to the plot in some way. Gali and Pohatu are the main focus, an uncommon pair it's nice to get to see working together, while Onua and Kopaka both briefly appear when Pohatu explains their contribution to his plan, showing off more of that delicious teamwork from last time. Kopaka also goes on to show up in Tahu's scene, showing some good character development for both of them. Tahu is continuing his habit of delivering rousing speeches, this time to the Ta-Matoran, and it's not a bad one. "Remember -- your bravery, your wisdom, your spirit, make you as mighty as any Toa!" Wow, sure would be a shame if one year after this comic was published it was retconned that Tahu virtually held no respect for his Matoran at all by this point. Wouldn't it be wild if that happened? *ahem* Anyway, we also get Kopaka calling Tahu "my friend," and that's just delightful.
Back when I last looked at To Trap a Tahnok, I really liked it, a lot more than I expected to. I still do quite enjoy it, though I don't think I'm quite as enthusiastic over it as last time. Which isn't to say that I think it's worse this time around, I think it's more that I went into it this time knowing I liked it, so I wasn't as surprised. Still, I'm impressed by just how much Greg managed to cram into this issue without it feeling bloated or weighed down. It's well done, and the unique story is appreciated.
Tumblr media
And that's as far as I got into 2002, so everything from this point on will be new ground! You might think that might mean I'll be slowing down, and I might, but it'll only be to pace myself. I've actually had several more retrospective posts basically done and sitting in my drafts since...January, maybe? ><' So after some minor edits, there's plenty more on the docket for the foreseeable future.
Next up: Into the Nest

I know alot of people have the same sentiment regarding the fandom and I really appreciate you saying something. Especially for everyone who's not comfortable to do so.
Long one, sorry.
As much as I also want to love and support everyone's creative endeavours I often feel the need to ask 'What does COD have to do with this?'.
Why are you writing for these characters? Because at the end of the day these strange cookie cutter characterisations could be applied to any thing, any one.
It's not furthering your creative abilities. It's not coming from an appreciation of the source material.
If it comes from a desire to create or express yourself (nsfw or otherwise) and you're going to play fast and loose with a fandom (especially one that cares deeply for long running and nostalgic IPs) consider writing original fiction. Or write for something you know and love. Or engage with the material and flex your muscles at adapting pre-established characters and conventions.
I try my best to assume that usually these things come from a place of fandom FOMO but it's getting harder and harder to ignore the growing trend of engaging with a fandom for interactions. I makes me sad to see Tumblr like this. It makes me sad to curate my feed as much as I do. It makes me sad that I've taken to engaging with and consuming content of characters and IPs (especially COD ones) that I know are niche enough to only be shared by people who know the source materials.
I know that not everyone has access to the games. I know not everyone is comfortable spending so much on something they're not even sure they'll enjoy. But twitch and YouTube are great places to watch entire playthroughs of these games' campaigns and events. Fandom wikis are also a great place to gain a better understanding of these characters. COD has been around a very long time and if you're ever unsure about anything there's always going to be people you can ask.
Small aside that I feel is also important and relevant.
I feel it's also important to point out for some of the younger fandom members - alot of the fandom have been here a very long time, alot of them will be older than you. It's going to be alot easier for a 30+ yo to understand some of the political issues that these games like to dance around, it's your prerogative to engage in content without analysing wether or not it's problematic but understand that some people can and will discuss it - they're not 'mischaracterising my blorbo by making him ruthless, mean, super dark or angsty' if they're exploring the complex nature or counter terrorism ect.
This also come into play when people are talking about race. These are important subjects and are quite intrinsically tied to this media. The next time someone wants to broach the topic of how they feel you might be unintentionally engage or propagating unhealthy or hurtful ideas. Listen and reflect. Because they might be onto something.
This age difference is also important when interacting with others within this fandom (any fandom) I don't care how 'cute' and 'approachable' that cosplayer is, that could be a much older person and your safety comes first. Stay safe online.
And last but not least - reboot-Gaz is pleasure/soft Dom and is perfect husband material I will hold you (every writer reading this) at gun point to write more doting slow burn of this covert ops KING.
"We move in silence, do our job, and melt away."
Man's got the girlies (gn) quaking fr.
Thank you for your time and dedication to this fandom and I look forward to reading your future works.
'What does COD have to do with this?' Is a GREAT way to sum up a lot of this. If you remove the name of the character from your fic, can your readers recognize them despite that? Or are you just taking a character, ignoring their canon, projecting a handful of kinks onto them (Not every character will have your same kink, sorry not sorry) and calling it a day?
I spend a lot of time stressing over characterization. I actually discontinued Consequences because I just didn't really like the way I was portraying Ghost (Side note: I can write several essays related to Ghost's relation to kink, I think there's fascinating nuance there) Part of the joy of writing for existing characters is the challenge and reward of figuring out their nuances and mannerisms. I honestly think for me that's my favorite part of writing for fandom, is the deciphering of characters I think are well written and enjoy.
Also yes!! Please ask folks who are familiar with the source material!! It's not only a fantastic way to engage with the source material, it's also a wonderful way to make friends, which is the reason for fandom in the first place! It's completely fine to admit you don't know something and to approach another fandom member and ask about it. I've directed several people to wikis and written an introduction post to CoD MW2 on how to view the game and read up on canon. (Which I shall have to hunt down and reblog for those interested)
I also agree about the age difference and harmful ideas. Going to be honest, I've noticed a very worrying trend of younger fandom members writing some very hardcore and frankly disconcerting smut. Just the other day I had to block a sixteen year old who was writing porn for Ghost that made no sense for his background. Hypersexuality is a huge issue in this fandom, and an issue that extends to others as well, and I think it originates from failure to read critically and engage with the media you are supposed to be writing for.

Homestuck 1/2
Alright, look, I made the banner graphic let’s tear the bandaid off.
I make fun of Homestuck and have no intention to stop doing so, but I do so based on the series and interactions with its fans and the creator’s opinions and – look I’m not doing a good job of setting this up, this is a very meta and tortured introduction that doesn’t get to the point, and therefore, by Homestuck standards, it’s good. But what I am trying to get to is that Homestuck is a space that’s super important to people in a way that to me, an older internet denizen, rings true of the Ranma 1/2 fandom.
You know, it was a space full of romance roleplays and weird sexy exploration, and a bunch of queers used it to work themselves out and in the process learned from one another about what it meant to be queer.
I think the overlap between these spaces is a synthesis of three ideas: Isolation, Play, and Smoochiness.
There’s a reason why the Cops Reading Homestuck story was a desireable story to tell and also why it was obvious bullshit. Cops can’t read. But also because the nature of being a Homestuck was one of being isolated. Homestuck isn’t a media everyone at school reads and has as a shared experience, it’s not communal and it’s not actually shareable. Like, you and a friend can’t put the webcomic on at the same time as you, it’s not a thing you can watch together. You have to participate in the webcomic separately, and to share the fandom you have to spend time with people who are also doing so. That pushes you out of social spaces with people you hang around with personally and into spaces where you’re going to interact with them in online spaces, and almost any online space like that is going to inevitably give people a way to be creative.
Similarly, if five to ten years earlier, you were invested in Ranma 1/2, you weren’t going to be seeing that at your library. You might be lucky to be at an anime club or manga club at a university, but if you were an English language speaker, odds were good you were going to only be finding community around Ranma 1/2 was online, and at that time? Online was stuff like Geocities or Lycos or Angelfire. Online was AOL Instant Messenger roleplay rooms. Online was USENET. You weren’t logging onto those places for a bit of everything, you were going there for this fandom, for this thing that you were interested in.
This is a thing I think that induces these kinds of media into being play spaces. You wanted to immerse yourself in it, you wanted more of it, there was a limit for how much of it there was and the only real places you could find it were places that were, definitionally, only going to necessarily share this thing as a frame of reference. It’s a great set of pressures for making sure people completely pickle their brains about a subject material.
Another element that links these two is that it seems the fandoms latched pretty hard onto the importance of romance and relationships. I don’t know anyone who considers themselves Extremely About Homestuck who starts promoting it by saying that the story is really coherent and good and makes a good singular point. I don’t mean this in a way that’s disrespectful to you Homestuckies, aside from the general low-level disrespect that you all are comfortable with and know you deserve, but I don’t get the impression anyone who spent a long time in the Homestuck space, especially the roleplaying Homestuck space, then you were into the characters.
Similarly, nobody should turn to Ranma 1/2 for a great long form story full of character arc moments — it’s a sex comedy martial arts manga with silly magical powers. The conclusion of it is a ‘wedding’ that gets interrupted and returns the story to a status quo (kinda). But along the way there was practically an OC Kit of narrative of hey, here’s a bunch of obvious hooks we reuse for characters to arrive in the story space and here’s how a Ranma 1/2 character gets created and you almost had an RPG sourcebook on that matter.
(Almost.)
No, the thing that drives both stories in their fan’s minds is the characters and the ability to play with them. Particularly, the ability to play with them as people with mouths that could be pushed up against one another and made to kissssss. Now, if you’ve read Ranma 1/2 you might want to go at this point ‘uh actually romance doesn’t come up that much’ because there mostly the romance is in reference to people trying to coerce a romantic situation onto someone and Ranma or Akane resisting it but c’mon.
It’s a 1980s sex comedy anime.
The story is building up to the kissssss.
Which means you have this media that focuses you on focusing on it more, a sort of hyperfocal brain pickler, sitting right next to a big pile of crayons and blank paper, and room to play. There’s non-judgmental approaches to trying things out, there’s a creative space where you aren’t necessarily going to encounter immediate resistance — believe it or not, there was actually a default fandom position of ‘oh, you’re going to make something? cool!’ on the internet back in the day — and in the process you wind up, without necessarily being told or induced to, play with romance in this media space with people who are definitionally not in a position to harm or judge you.
I want to make fun and I will and I like doing so, but to do so I must always do with open honesty that: there’s nothing wrong with this. The fact that Homestuck is very meaningful to people, so meaningful to people, makes complete sense.
I’m still not going to read it, don’t be silly.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

I think it's easier to interpret book Aemond as an "outsider" or "loner" because he is written as a shallow caricature of a character whose only notable act is abandoning his family and the war they're fighting to hang out with his new girlfriend and commit genocide with zero strategic military aim - thus his actions can be viewed as those of someone who doesn't really give a shit about the promises he's made and the duties he has to his family and to the military effort (including his betrothed! he openly risks a crucial military alliance!). So I could see the argument that he maybe felt disconnected from them in some way, and there was never much love there. However, one of the clearest changes from book Aemond to show Aemond is how much more entrenched he is within his family. I do agree it seems that Ewan dials into this bad boy cliche in that interview, that I don't think is reflected in the material we get of Aemond on screen. If anything - we see over and over that Aemond is by far the most outwardly loved by Alicent out of the three kids (I'm not saying this motherly love or her attachment to him is particularly "healthy" - but she clearly loves him in the best way she's able to.) She struggles to connect with or express her love for Helaena and Aegon, yet we see her comforting Aemond when he's younger, fighting for him when he gets hurt, then her trust and reliance on him when he's older, her worry (she tells him she doesn't want him to go look for Aegon so he can stay with her!), her disappointment when he lets her down at dinner. I think Aemond's relationship with his family slowly disintegrating largely due to B&C fallout is going to be a crucial part of season 2 and his "unraveling," which is why it's even more significant that he WAS loved and trusted by his mother, by his pseudo father figure, perhaps even in ways by his brother and sister. I guess I also just don't personally see the appeal in the edgy loner who doesn't care about anything or anyone stereotype, and find it to be a set up for pretty bland one-dimensional storytelling. Lucky for us that isn't the story for him set up in season 1, and we will likely be seeing an explosive and toxic breakdown of the most important relationships in his life. I do tend to assume that people who put too much stock in the oft contradictory things actors say about their characters are new to fandom, because anyone who has been around the block even once knows to treat that kind of a stuff as a fun extra add-on, and rather focus on interpreting the information presented to us in its final form on our screens. Same with Olivia saying that Alicent is scared of Criston - that is simply not the story that is presented by season 1 of the show.
agree, but i also don't think we should get stuck in a couple of interviews. ewan's aemond doesn't really have any scenes with alicent at all in ep. 8 and very brief ones in ep. 9. it's possible he also didn't have access to the scripts for episodes 5-6, so alicent advocating for little aemond wouldn't be at the forefront of his mind. all these elements matter a lot when framing a character. the actors are not asoiaf nerds, they (hopefully) have better things to do with their time other than pouring over the sacred texts. and, in aemond's case, yes, he is an unhinged little maniac in FB so it's easy to paint him as a bad boy
at this point. you know. the show has contradictions, the book has contradiction (aemond's dilly-dallying in the riverlands bc he narratively needs to be there for his big death-off with daemon), the actor's interviews have contradictions. it is what it is. we'll always have fanfic
