The Chickadee babies are 6 and 5 days old, and have grown a lot (even if that's barely visible). I am happy that all of them are alive. Both parents deliver a steady stream of insects, and mom is keeping them warm.
During a recent walk through Denver's urban parks, I stumbled upon a truly extraordinary sight—a family of exotic ducks with their adorable ducklings. These unique ducks, possibly Hooded Mergansers, were navigating the waterways, showcasing their beautiful crests and playful nature. 🌿
Urban parks often hide incredible wildlife treasures, and this encounter was a perfect reminder of the biodiversity thriving in our cities. Watching the ducklings dive and explore their surroundings was a delightful experience, highlighting the importance of preserving these urban habitats. 🌸
Why Urban Biodiversity Matters: Maintaining diverse ecosystems within urban areas is crucial for ecological balance. It provides habitat for various species and enriches our city life. 🌳
Getting Involved: Join local bird-watching groups, support urban conservation projects, and share your own sightings to raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference! 🌍
hey @AudubonSociety @BirdWatchingMag @NaturePhotos @WildlifeTrust @urbanbirdsurbanbirds-blog please let me know what you think of these pics!
This is a pretty good photo of a female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis). Her crest is pretty striking.
I don't post all of the photos that I post here to my Pixels gallery, but I post the photos I like best. Some don't make the cut. I'm not sure about this one, only because I photograph a lot of cardinals. I'll probably post this photo because it's a good photo. I usually wait a couple of days and see how I feel about it then.

my first completed artwork in 2024! i'm slowly making progress on the 2023 collectible bird cards
this year i really want to focus on backgrounds so this piece took longer than usual compared to my previous card designs! i also upgraded my canvas size/resolution so now procreate limits me to only 33 layers, which was difficult to work with (give me my 50+ layers!!). hopefully i can offer larger size prints if people are interested? i will post the card version of this artwork later!
Yesterday, among the hundreds of goldfinches flittering around my backyard. I saw this house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus). I was taken by his coloring, which is a bit more on the orange side than most house finches that I see around here. I only had time for this one shot. The look on the bird's face reminds me of Ben when I'm talking to him, and he just stares back at me.

You know, the photographs that I post here are not quite a vivid as the same photographs that I post at my pixel's gallery, because here, I reduce the size of the photos and usually make a slight reduction in the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.
