We're all so tired on the way home from our respective PT, but we're all seeing noticeable improvements. Better, stronger, faster. We can rebuild. We have the technology.
Moxie, named Mazie in the shelter, is a 5 month old listed as a "pit"/boxer mix that just happened to be at our local shelter when we went to just... give ourselves some much needed fluff-therapy after losing Evie.
She came into the shelter as a stray, and she's a parvo survivor. On top of that, she had just been spayed and had an upper respiratory infection so little girl has been through it. She has moxie - hence her name!
We weren't quite looking for a puppy but something about it all felt a little too close to fate. She won't replace Evie by any means and I don't want her to, something we talked about was making sure we didn't place unfair expectations on her to "live up to" or be just like Evie, but we had a space open and this little girl clearly needed a good, comfortable life. She's sweet as pie with the typical bully breed rambunctiousness. And her tippy-tappies are to die for!
So far she's settling in, we're working hard on crate training and she's improving, she's learned to sit and give her paw, and she has a pen set up so she can play and chew on toys without bothering me while I sleep (3rd shifter problems lol) or without being pestered by the boys. She hasn't had any accidents in the house either.
She's not super thrilled by most treats and most toys lose her focus fast so it's been difficult to keep her entertained and give her positive reinforcement, but we're getting there, lol. She's liking treats more and more by the day, I think. The main issue is when she's a little scared or stressed, she does not want treats at all. She eats her kibble really well though!
Right now she's not a big fan of being outside, so nice photos have been difficult to capture. She's off for her complimentary wellness exam tomorrow morning, hopefully public parks will help with the photo endeavors once I get her all cleared to go to them! Anyway, that's a little about our new gal. :)
