🎀🐍 A SMALL SNAKEY PROBLEM (Pennylou comic series) - Part 1 🐍🎀

Forgive him, he's PMSSSing 😔 (What's PMS, you ask? Pre-molting syndrome, of course!)

Big shoutout to my friend who infodumped to me about how her snake was when shedding, which inspired a lot of this!

Fun fact: I learned during my own research that snakes basically go blind because the scale over their eyes is coming off too and gets milky. I did briefly consider this for Pentious, but because the scale protects their eyes since they don't blink and Pentious does blink, I figured it would only happen to his chest eye and previously tail eyes! Good lordy, with all the slithering, they do need some heavy protection...

And another shoutout to the fic "Warmth" by beababoobies. The line "Pentious loved touch in general - it was reassuring, nice, and it made him feel human all over again." truly has me in a chokehold. I knew he was human, of course, but oh. What if even he forgets it sometimes?

I'd also like to think Pentious suffers from body dysmorphia to some degree. He kinda got used to the change over the 130+ years of his afterlife, but it's still tough to try and desperately cling on to some sense of humanity when you suddenly don't even look human anymore, with the drastic changes you went through being seen as more "freaky" than desirable to add insult to injury. That's the short of it, my friends have witnessed entire essay-long rambles I've written about this sbdbdbf

Oof, this one almost broke me since A) Pen's crush on Cherri is a touchy subject for me and B) it's so sad to see my boy heartbroken, but he deserved that closure 🥹 I'm also quite proud of the writing in that one, hope you enjoyed it too. We're getting our first breakthrough towards mutual feelings 🤭

PS. Frank Jr is okay! While Emily bringing the eggies to life essentially transformed them into organic beings, I do like to think that them originally being made out of metal makes them a bit more sturdy, like hardboiled eggs maybe sbsbdbd

PS. PS. Yes I decided to make this Betty's natural lip color sksjdj she looked off without it, and if "everyone is hot" to quote their local twink, who's to say you can't have permanent makeup in Heaven 😆

Have I ever told you guys that Betty makes most of her own clothes? It's one of the several skills she's honed in her 60+ years in Heaven :3c

Betty and Pentious have a bit of a different idea of what's "cool". Sweetly enough, Betty's idea is much closer to Pen's style when he's not TRYING way too hard to be "hip". She just loves him as is... if perhaps with a little extra pizzazz 🤭

(for transparency's sake, I will say that I've seen @nebulabunnyarts 's Pentious art and loved a lot of it! While my design was not intentionally copied from or inspired by them, I have to say that genius recognizes genius 🤝 Everybody put that man in a corset right now)

Hey, all's well that ends well, and Betty sure knows how to make the best of the situation given to her 😌

Also, I've never said it but it's pretty funny to write a character who doesn't swear in a setting where A LOT of swearwords are thrown around. And not because I'm trying to sanitize the source itself or "because Heaven" (though I would wager that while not seen as a grave offense or a sin, swearing is still perceived as crass and impolite and most use it sparingly if at all, whereas in Hell it's weird if you DON'T swear often), Betty is just like that djdjfjfj

Tfw the idea for this one started off as "haha it's just like Pentious to dig himself into a lie just to spare a poor old lady's feelings" but it spiraled into "oh, he's a little traumatized from the last time his intentions were misconstrued, actually" 😢

There are some renovations being done 🤭 A.k.a. I had to justify changing the wall color in Betty's living room since the light green was really hard to work with with my rendering style.

I might've made fun of Pent's "cool" T-shirt but I'm growing kinda fond of putting him in T-shirts that look too big on him because of how snatched his waist is dbdbfbfb it feels... comfy, in a way. Like a level of casualness he doesn't usually show to others.
