Jake sim x reader. #childhood friend to stranger #angst

Unfortunately, you’re stuck on a cliche “childhood best friend turned into crush” :( - but can you help it? It’s Jake Sim we’re talking about here.

You literally grew up with this silly boy- from nursery school to now- last year of your university. Despite having different interest and class majors, you both got in the same university and have the time to see each other in between. (How? You’ll never know🤷‍♀️)

Your crush in question is quite the entertainment amongst your friends. Not that you’re obnoxious with your gestures/feeling, but it’s no secret to anyone that you like Jake.

Jake has basketball practice after school? You take ice cream for him and his friends when you pass by the school store!

Jake’s favourite football and basketball team game is airing? yeah you’re watching that with Jake.

(And Jake brings your favourite snacks and cuddles too<3)

Your friends says you’re absolutely down bad for the boy, but you’d like to think you’re just affectionate in nature - it’s not like you don’t show affection towards your own friends too.

“Let me guess, your MBTI is an F?” - Jungwon first time meeting you. “No, I’m pre-T, cu-T-” y/n … shut up please

Anyway.

It’s not like Jake doesn’t return the affection half of the time? Man is touchy. Arms around your shoulders, biting your shoulder when he can’t win an argument with you and sharing food? (not that you mind…. You really don’t…. please continue…… forever)

“That’s because we’re best friends” He tells Sunghoon with a tsk when Hoon gets tired of third wheeling. The eyerollll he gets from Hoon every time fr is enough to say stfu.

The guys just want to *bonk* him. Wake up Sim!

You realise this cycle had been as what it had always been since you realise your feelings but you know enough not to push the boundaries between the two of you to make it awkward and destroy you friendship

So today isn’t really any different except Jake gets benched for a day because he wouldn’t shut up about fishing instead of practising. This is never good because Jake Sim is PASSIONATE about his hobbies and sports.

The team also has an important game in a couple of weeks so wasting this time on the bench very counterproductive.

You do you your daily visit, ready to share your snacks with Jake and the rest of the boys and that’s when you notice his small frown and bitten bottom lips.

“Jakey, you okay? Want to talk somewhere? ” You test the water because a moody Jake Sim is a land mine sometimes. it takes talking to get him out from his danger zone

“No” you’re not fazed at his abrupt answer but it breaks your heart to see him like this. He mumbles something along of “I’m fine” but nonetheless your stubborn self didn’t believe him. His happiness was your happiness, after all.

“Come on Jakey, let’s go somewhere to talk-“

“Oooh baby Jakey, talk to your girlfriend to calm your ass down. Maybe you can cuddle it out right girlfriend?” One of the guy yells across the court, laughing boisterously.

“Come on guys, it’s not like that. We’re not dating” you respond, trying to dismay the guys not to provoke Jake further.

“Yet!” Heeseung winks. “You’ve got to try harder y/n!”

“I guess” you whispered, just wanting them to lose interest at both of your business and focus on cheering Jake at the very moment.

You sigh, look falling towards Jake when all too sudden, you feel his fingers arms around your forearm, quietly dragging you out of the court and a couple of room away from the place.

“What was that bout?” he exclaimed, voice barely above whispered, a slight growl evident in his deep voice.

“What are you talking bout?” you raised your brow, tugging on the sleeves of your hoodie nervously as you feel the tension between the two of you.

“Don’t act dumb y/n. You know what you were doing with all the girlfriend talk and trying to be more than what we are”

“Is it that bad to try? I care about you as friend too. My intentions aren’t all motivated by trying to be more than that.” Your attempt to explain yourself was futile when Jake interupts you

“What fuck y/n? You know I hate it when you talk about trying to be more than my friend!”

“I didn’t start it! I didn’t even mean just that too! I’m trying to make you feel better-“

“Still!!” He exclaimed and you can see the frustration in his expressions. “You ran with it and you’re motivating them”

“I just thought… I thought it would shut them up”

“Well you thought wrong” Jake ran his hand through his hair in frustration, backing away from you. “You have no idea how it feels to have your friend and strangers constantly nagging you to do and what not to do!”

“Jakey, you should just accept poor y/n’s feelings! don’t reject her so much! You two are definitely more than friends!!” He mimicked comments you’ve heard many times from others too. His voice was getting deeper as words kept coming out. His fists were clenching every second. The image of the golden puppy boy was gone. “I’ms tired of it, y/n!” he yelled.

“I’m sick and tired of you constantly forcing me to act like a couple!” You held your breath, trying to stay strong at Jake’s eyes starring straight into yours coldly. His finger poking, pointing towards you. “It’s so fucking annoying to have your own best friend push and whine every single day of your life. No matter how many times I fucking turn you down as gently as possible but your stubborn self couldn’t see how annoying this whole thing is for me. I call you best friend every day for heaven sakes!”

You felt your chest tighten with every passing second, you felt like you were bout to burst. Second after seconds, Jake felt very unfamiliar and the situation felt like a nightmare. Not until the following words woke you up in this reality and shattered your remaining resolve

“I don’t like you like that and I never fucking will. I mean it y/n”

Without a second wasted, you slipped out of Jake’s presence and jogged of the stairs, trying to keep your tears in. You felt like your heart had been crushed into pieces. A heart break without the love.

♡ has an immaculate bed-time routine i think! there's an order to it and he has to follow it just so or it throws him out of the loop. you're part of this routine, of course! <3

♡ i definitely see him doing something like drawing or painting before bed, even doodling. he loves to sit up in bed just doodling in his little notebook (he's giving dad playing cross-word in bed with his glasses pushed way down his nose lol). he loves to doodle you, if you let him. and when you do you usually lay your head on his lap, your feet tucked up into your chest, a book in your hand (he def uses your head as a little table lmfao)

♡ you guys do your skincare routines together every night. you're in the bathroom at the same time, washing your faces together and all that jazz. and one day every week, you guys do face masks together!! you put his on him and vice versa :P he loves the comfy silence of that ritual... just staring at each other and being super soft together :( if it's one of those michael myers sheet masks he'll definitely start being goofy and act like a serial killer

♡ whatever way you like to wear your hair at night, he will fix it up for you!! sits behind you on the bed and gently rakes his fingers through your hair, asking you how you want it. he does it so often, he's practically a master at it. sometimes you want to do his hair lol, so he'll let you brush it out and do whatever with it (actually secretly loves it when you braid it or put little clips and bows in it)

♡ before bed debriefs!!! genuinely wants to hear all about your day. he wants to know what you're thinking, what you're feeling, your plans for tomorrow, he wants to know it all!! tell him that information. if you're struggling with anything, or if he is, it's a chance for both of you to help each other and come up with solutions in a safe place (each other's embrace) <33

♡ i think sungho is the comfiest ever to sleep with. he's so perfect and his arms are like the most perfect things to hold onto. will definitely ask you to rake your nails against his skin, especially his back. it's his favourite way to be sent to dreamland. & he'll always make sure to grab your hand and give the inside of your wrist a kiss before saying goodnight <3

jaehyun 재현

♡ always plans a movie night whenever you both have the time! he goes all out: popcorn (in the red and white striped buckets), a million blankets, a projector, soda + straws, all your favourite candy and even schedules delivery just right so it shows up in the middle of the movie, right when you two are getting hungry <3

♡ when you’re not having movie nights he still makes sure you two unwind and let your brains relax in some way. maybe it’s a puzzle, a video game, or sharing your favourite tiktoks of the day lol

♡ “oh hey have you seen this tiktok!! it’s so funny, you’re gonna DIE!” “oh, you’ll love this one. it made me think of you” “honey look at this one really quickly, just for a second! please! this is literally you” (and it’s some kinda animal or bug)

♡ you know those scenes in cute rom-coms where the couple brush their teeth together… that’s you and jaehyun! will literally wait for you to be ready to brush your teeth so you can start together. he just adores looking in the mirror and making silly faces at you :’) <3 defo an “omg she’s really mine” moment for him

♡ such a sweetiepie! he knows your exact skincare routine and most nights he helps you with it <3 makes you sit on the counter while he’s in between your legs, massaging all your creams and serums into your face. looks at you sooo adoringly & when he’s finished he always plants a kiss on your forehead <3

♡ makes sure you’re all tucked in, warm and snug, before he lays down next to you. your comfort is most important to him! latches onto you like a koala as soon as he’s beside you. he’s so warm and loving though, you can’t even be mad. presses so many soft kisses to your neck before wishing you sweet dreams <3 ☁️ might rap a verse or two also

riwoo 리우

♡ makes you a cup of tea before bed, always!!! gets your favourite mug and favourite tea (or hot cocoa if you're in the mood) and brings it to you. he always says to finish it all cause it'll help you sleep better. sometimes you forget and he's like >:( for a second then makes you gulp it down (even if its gone cold), and then he's like :D and pats you on the head. he just cares about you so much <33

♡ i feel like he'd defo stretch with you before bed too. like you guys have a few minutes while your in your pj's to stretch your limbs and any other tight areas, especially if you two were active a lot that day! it’s the dancer in him that makes him do it lol

♡ dessert. that's it. donuts, mayhaps. he loves having a sweet treat before bed and he'll always want to share that time with you! <3 even if you don't like sweets, he'll make sure you have a little something you can enjoy. also every couple of nights you guys will bake something!! usually it turns out good, but if it ends up being kinda gross it's ok, riwoo's got a never-ending secret stash of sweets <3

♡ riwoo loves doing nothing... so after he's done his skincare and brushed his teeth he immediately teleports into bed. so most nights you guys are in bed a few hours before you actually wanna go to sleep. that time is usually filled with lots of conversations and sweet-nothings!! riwoo loves to just admire you and constantly tell you how lucky he is to have you <33

♡ me & @000-pawz talked about riwoos pretty hands yesterday and how he’d love giving you massages!!! he’d give you one every night :D even if it was just a quick shoulder rub, he wants to help relax you in any way he can. his hands are soo soft yet strong…they literally lull you to sleep

♡ speaking of his pretty hands…. riwoo likes to take his even prettier fingers and trace your skin with them. “guess what shape!” is pretty much a bedtime ritual. you two will often fall asleep that way. with his hand slowly tracing things on your back, eventually finding a resting spot around around your waist. he's pressed up all the way against you, you can feel his soft breath against your neck. mutters "goodnight, my love" so so quietly but you always catch it <3

taesan 태산

♡ i think taesan would love reading to you, or with you, at least. it doesn't have to be some super complicated book, it could be a graphic novel, an article, litro anything. but he loves to relax you in that way. he also adoressss hearing your voice!!!! so please read to him, it'll send him into the deepest sleep. it makes him feel so safe and loved <3

♡ might be controversial and wrong but idc in my head, taesan has a telescope and one of his favourite things to do at night is go outside and look into space. he drags you out there with him and tells you all the constellations you can see, the planets that are visible and the super cool stars too!! <3 its a nice thought he likes to be reminded of before he sleeps, that the universe is so vast and he's so tiny and so are his problems, in the bigger picture.

♡ carries you bridal-style into bed idc. oh, he's ready to go to bed? but if you're not there he'll look for you and then wait until you're finished with whatever you're doing then scoop you up and plop you right into the mattress <3

♡ has multiple sleepy-time playlists!! will converse with you when you're both tucked in to get your opinion on which playlist you guys should listen to to fall asleep!! sometimes though he'll start playing it before you two are even in bed, and then you guys are just slow dancing around the room for the whole duration of the playlist <33

♡ strikes me as the type to journal before bed, or even write down some song lyrics or melodies he's been thinking up. you'll have your head resting on his chest and an arm looped through his while he shows you what he's been working on <3 sings you some of it if he's comfy with it! and then he'll turn out the lights and literally drag you on top of him and give you the sweetest goodnight kiss <3

leehan 이한

♡ BATHS! and on very special occasions ;) ROSE PETAL BATHS! but like every other night leehan has to take a bath with you. it’s soooo relaxing and therapeutic for him. he’ll make sure to put you hair up (if it’s long and you’re not washing it that day). he’ll also wash it for you:( & is so gentle about it.

♡ tries his absolute hardest to not pull your hair or knot it. gives you a mini head massage too!! runs his gorgeous, sturdy fingers through your locks (i just drooled)

♡ “is that okay for you, my love?” “just tell me if it hurts, alright?” “i just want to make you feel as relaxed as possible. it’s what my sweet darling deserves” <3333 ARGHHH someone give him to me right now

♡ he lets you help him feed his fish at night!!! he loves watching them before bed cause it's really calming and also he wants to say goodnight to them! you sit in front of his little aquarium with him, your head on his shoulder and just watch as the fishies swim around <33

♡ sings you to sleeeeppp are you kidding me. a million percent. how can he not with that warm, rich voice of his? he has a mental file of all your favourite songs, usually ones that are slower and calmer, and bam he just whips them out for you as soon as the you turn off the lights. snuggles up to you real close :( makes sure your head is resting on his chest. strokes the side of your face sooo lightly it tickles a bit. “my pretty girl” “i love you so much”

♡ he snores just a tad but it's so adorable. & usually you're the little spoon but sometimes you'll wake up and leehan is just completely draped over you. he gets cold pretty easily and finds that the blankets aren't enough so he needs your body warmth <3

woonhak 운학

♡ MATCHING PJ'S!!!! he loves wearing matching cursed graphic tees to sleep lol, he finds it soo hilarious.

♡ pillow fights and wrestling matches!! he has so much energy he needs to get it out somehow! you guys have a little sheet of paper pinned up next to the bed with your scores for the week LMAO. whoever has the most at the end gets to pick the next date night <3 (you're behind him, sorry to say. he's an absolute menace with a pillow)

♡ you guys watch asmr together lol. that, or you'll do asmr on each other. he loves pretending he's an asmrtist and is giving you a special treatment and does a ton of weird but relaxing things on you. his favourite thing for you to do on him is play with his hair!! i also think he'd love if you gave him the shivers (like crack an egg on your head that kinda thing, from the office...or like this lol -- i love her channel sm anyways)

♡ somehow you two always end up talking for hours before actually falling asleep. it's rare, but you two can also end up doing those superman things (where one person holds up the other on their feet lmao) and that can go on for a whileee. you’ve hurt each other too many times to count doing that. but usually you two just lay in the dark, all wrapped in each others arms, talking about anything and everything <3

♡ kicks you in his sleep lmao. he doesn’t meant to :( that’s just the way he is! & somehow, the blanket will always be on the bottom of the bed. you've both learned to wear warm pj's no matter how hot the weather is bc all sheets and blankets are completely removed from you two by the morning.

♡ he really is so loving though <33 makes sure you are fully comfy in bed. fluffs up your pillows and makes sure you've got your plushie and anything else you can't sleep without. props himself up on one elbow and traces your features while you close your eyes. every night, he always kisses you three times! one peck on each cheek and then a long, lovely kiss on your lips <3

Oh, absolutely! Dogday has a few little habits, good and bad. Some slowly died down after a while but these are just a few I could think of rn :3

Teeny tiny CW for this one! There is mentions of some destructive behavior such as hoarding and codependency. It's not too detailed but I wanted to let you guys know before reading!

Old habits die hard

He has a lot of old habits that were drilled into him during his time at playtime co. Like

Talking in third person.

Following a strict schedule.

Scolding you when you swear etc.

It takes a bit, but eventually he's able to catch and stop himself.

Sometimes he'll mess with you and speak in third person, all you can do is sigh and stare.

Oh no! Our table! It's broken!

He breaks things, ALOT. He sometimes forgets his strength and has a habit of gripping objects a bit too hard that they break.

Your phone? What phone?

Your laptop? He has no idea how that happened.

We don't talk about how the railing came off of the wall, even though he doesn't know how it happened!

What's mine isn't yours

As much as he trusts his angel, he can never be too sure.

He keeps cans of food or anything he can snack on hidden as a “just in case”. When you four escaped he used to be very territorial when it came to food. Not that he wanted to be.

He knows he can trust you, but he also knows from experience anything could easily be taken away, so expect him to be territorial with food or gifts for the first few months and expect to find stale food hidden under your bed too.

What's yours is his

Literally.

Dogday hates being apart from you, he has a bit of separation anxiety. He'll even “borrow” your stuff when you're gone.

Clothes? He can't wear them, so he'll make a little nest on your bed with them.

Getting him to wake up and move from the pile so you can put your stuff away is a struggle. The amount of torn and ripped clothing you have accumulated is concerning. Coming home to your favorite sweater or shirt being ripped and torn under his weight while he's in dreamland isn't fun, but once again, he has no idea how that happened. Strange.

Paranoia and over thinking until he drops.

He tends to overthink and rambles alottttt to himself when you're not there. Poppy has a hard time snapping him out of it. He can't help it, if something happens to you he'll never be able to cope plus he would never forgive himself for not being able to protect you.

Whenever you're home, he's basically glued to your side. Privacy? You don't know her!

He keeps an eye on everyone and sometimes walks around the property at night to make sure it's safe.

As much as you reassure him, he still can't shake the feeling that something followed the four of you out.

Manners? Not in this house, apparently.

He's a bit of a messy eater and slurps his food.

Everyone agrees he should be more mindful of his eating habits, but he can't help it. It's good!

It was cute at first, seeing him enjoy his first proper meal after so long, but cleaning the mess and himself wasn't.

The look of disapproval and disgust on your faces was enough for him to stop.

Keep your tongue to yourself please

Whether it be affectionate or because you have food on your face, it doesn't matter. He will lick you! You think it's gross, Poppy thinks it is absolutely disgusting, and Kissy just sides-eyes him when he does. The table was silent the first time it happened. He sees nothing wrong with it, so expect it to happen again.

One thing I think many gloss over when it comes to Godzilla is the motivation and personality of each iteration, and how their design reflects that.

Shin is a being of pure agony, a living cancer that kills and destroys as much as it can out of pure rage and hatred at its own existence and those who made it be so. Over the film, it goes from what looks like a dead shark to a monster with razors for teeth and eyes of pure suffering and hate.

Minus One is basically hate personified, a monster that somehow manages to hold a deep personal rage against each and every individual member of humanity. It's hatred runs so deep that it commits actions just to terrify and kill. And it's design forces a terrifying glare, one so viscous you'd believe it really hates you personally.

Monsterverse is more of a disgruntled hero. He kinda gives the vibe of a dude who stands in the corner at a party acting like he doesn't want to be there. He has specific motivations in taking down particular kaiju, motivations that are often confused for attacks. He does what he needs to do and retreats back to the ocean when he's done. And he looks consistently miffed. A face that does lean into a menacing rage when necessary.

Classic goji is, like most iterations, an already existing being from the sea, enraged at the destruction of its home and mutation of itself. It has come to simply destroy, destroy all that has allowed this to occur. It causes hurt and suffering, agony and destruction all in its shared pain and rage. Its design is literally shaped like a mushroom cloud since, yknow, nuke mutation.

i hope when the lisa definitive edition releases old and new players start to see the party members as not only a fun mechanic to progress in the game but also as their second purpose (specified even in their gang page)

which is to tell how different the people of olathe are from eachother from good to neutral to bad.

all of the party members got their own personalities, points of view and goals, which i've always been appreciative of because it makes them all feel like they're their own person and it shows that they're not going to think exactly like you just because they're on your side.

so some of them can be assholes that despise brad for different reasons and are even creepy to buddy and others can just be neutral on the whole thing or don't care about brad but don't hate him and there are others who are nice people who just want someone to hang out and get attached to brad and it pains them to betray him at the end. some of them even got someone they care about too the same way brad cares for buddy.

and all of this is made just so you don't see them only as tools, they are written this way to show you what the people of olathe are like from a closer perspective. the only other way to do this would be using npcs which would go more overlooked, and it already IS overlooked by players

becuz over time i've seen toooo many fans who speak as if absolutely every man in olathe is an asshole and a pedo, which is why they congratulate tooley too much just for being decent to buddy. i like him but you give him too much credit for something other characters do as well.

and they talk like these are just 'olathe standards' and like it's okay for this game when No, this game condemns this type of behavior at all times and it makes it very clear. it's not normal, it's just common

i mean was terry a creep towards buddy??? bo?? carp?? shocklord? birdie? nern? olan? the warlords??? and more characters and there are even npcs who deeply question the stuff going on around buddy or are simply not interested in her

and then i see takes such as "maybe x character is gay becuz they don't seem interested in buddy". pal i can think of a million better reasons to consider a character gay (sometimes no reason at all, have fun). (also again, TOOLEY. i mean he was seen at the beehive, isn't that a better reason to think he's gay??)

you don't need to be a pedo and a rapist to be attracted to women, and it's crazy how little the concept of consent matters to some people, because this isn't the only time i've seen this type of thinking over a piece of media.

this is a way of thinking that comes from people who got into lisa for the fun battles and do not understand the story, and it's sorta okay, it's fine if the battles are your favorite thing or if you're not that fond of emotional stories, but you can't ignore this part of the game, to do that you better just play something else, because my problem is that when you try to explain the emotional matters of lisa's story they never want to listen; they preffer living in their little bubble of misinterpreting everything. (like the amount of times i've tried explaining to other fans why lisa isn't worst than her goddamn dad and it's like talking to a wall) like damn, i love the battles too but i can perfectly have both things yknow.

anyway just my silly little thoughs that have been going thru my mind these past weeks, i take this game too seriously but i also feel like it's dumb not to because that's what it wants you to do.

hope things go well when the definitive edition drops and that everyone enjoys it 8)
