TERRIBLE AT COMMUNICATING. We all know Keith is stubborn and easily overwhelmed with a short temper. He doesn’t really know how to talk to people without getting angry. He feels that bc he has a hard time explaining exactly what he means, people never understand him and that makes him mad.

Bro isn’t scared of anything…and that low key scares everyone else. Like…who isn’t afraid of anything? The whole team has tried sooooo hard to figure out what will get Keith to jump out of his skin and scream like a child but to no avail… Boy just doesn’t flinch, doesn’t care, couldn’t care less about bugs and rodents and clowns and heights or anything like that.

Wears his gloves in the shower sometimes. Like wtf ???

Green Flags ✅

Also bc he is not afraid of anything, boy will protect his friends/family/partner SO HARD. He will verbally AND physically tear someone apart just for looking at you the wrong way. Very protective and caring but in a good way ya know?

Actually very selfless and not self-centered in the slightest. Keith is very giving and helpful, despite his tough exterior, he’s very caring, observant and considerate. He’ll give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He’s always down to help others. Ugh Sweet heart ❤️‍🔥

LANCE 💙

Red Flags 🚩

Obvi his biggest red flag is how flirty he is. Boy will flirt with anything that breaths and that can get really annoying sometimes and affect the rest of the team.

Jealous AS FUCK. Like the petty jealous type. Lance is the kind of guy to pretend he has a partner back home just bc some alien girl he was flirting with said she had a partner already. He’s like “OH YEAH? Wow cool me too, same same, yeah….” But homie’s ego is a bit sore now…

Lies a lot. Lance just panics sometimes and tells a lie. He knows it’s wrong and he always feels guilty after lying to someone but it always just slips out. His mouth moves faster than his brain most the time.

Green Flags ✅

THE BEST HUGGER/CUDDLER OMFGGGGGG. Lance is the best hugger and cuddle buddy ever, period, end of story, try to change my mind. His long arms always stretch fully around the recipient’s torso and he squeezes tight enough to make you feel warm but not smothered. Usually will rest his chin on the other person’s head if they’re short enough (so Pidge obvi).

Very aware of other’s moods/body language/tone of voice. Everyone thinks Lance is “the dumb one” but he’s actually very in tune with what’s going on in the moment, what’s going on around him. I think he can tell how others feel the second he sees them. Good intuition kinda thing. An empath for sure.

Very considerate and often remembers the little things about people. Does he remember what he learned in class just a couple days ago? Pffft heck no! Does he remember everyone’s birthday, every year and get them a very thoughtful gift? HELL YEAHH I LOVE THIS SWEET BOY OMFG 🩵

SHIRO 🖤

Honestly…idfk Shiro is so perf. Perfect baby boy all the way

Maybe he could seem too nice at first…? Like when someone is nice but ur like “are you for real? Or are you fake and evil and you’re hiding something?” I think Shiro could be perceived as being fake nice at first.

Omg I feel like Shiro is one of those “ oh no, that looks delicious but I can’t. I’m watching my carbs.” YOU KNOW SHIRO IS A GYM DUDE WHO COUNTS HIS CALORIES PLZ

ALSO AN A+ HUGGER. Imagine those big ass arms holding you so softly and so close to his big, warm body. Omg so comforting, so relaxing. Often gives a gently squeeze just before letting go and pulling away. Ugh 😩❤️‍🔥

Literally the most trustworthy man in the universe. Will defend his friends, loved ones, and planet until the end of time. Shiro would die before revealing any secrets you’ve asked him to keep. The best person to vent to bc he’ll never tell another soul about it. He’s like a personal diary

Shiro is sooooo patient. Definitely the most patient one on the team. He really does take his own advice…ya know, patience yields focus 😌 very sweet, calm man. We love Shiro

PIDGE 💚

GIRL WILL WORK HERSELF TO DEATH PLZ GO CHECK UP ON HER, BRING HER FOOD AND WATER, GENTLY FORCE HER INTO BED SHE NEEDS SLEEP.

Lowkey kinda moody and can get snappy very easily. Pidge is a sweet heart and very smart and a good team player but she’s also stubborn and will yell to get her point across or make herself heard (she’s an Aries…what’d you expect?)

Sometimes very conceited and braggy about how smart she is. Like yeah Pidge, we know you’re a genius and you could code in your sleep. WE GET IT. UR SMART. GEEZ 😒

Green Flags ✅

Pidge is so baby. Yeah, she can get snappy and braggy sometimes but…SHES SO BABY PLZ FORGIVE HER. She’s just young and stressed okay? Give her a break. She’ll apologize eventually with puppy dog eyes and a soft voice and while she looks adorable, she is being sincere and really wants to resolve this.

Very loyal and determined. I mean look how hard she searched and fought for her dad and brother. She won’t stop for anything or anyone once she has her mind set. Pidge Will never leave you behind and will always turn back to help someone in need.

Androgynous royalty. Pidge is soooo chill about her gender and identity. We love a confident babe 🏳️‍🌈💚

HUNK 💛

Boy is too scared sometimes. I think Hunk has really bad anxiety and it’s not the anxiety that is the red flag, it’s how he copes with it…which he doesn’t. Hunk let’s his anxiety get the best if him sometimes…but he’s trying.

Honestly…does Hunk really have any other red flags??? Baby boy is so sweet idk 🤷🏻

Over eats to the point of getting sick sometimes…and never learns his lesson. (Me asf)

THE SWEETEST MOST CONSIDERATE AND THOUGHTFUL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE OMFG WHAT A SWEET HEART 😩💛 honestly just a very good guy. We love Hunk.

Obvi his cooking skills!!! Can cook for any occasion, on any cooking surface, in any conditions. Can cook so many different dishes from so many rich cultures around the world! So talented. His food always hits.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST at cheering others up. Soooo funny and silly and kind and relatable. He tries so hard to brighten others’ days when they need it. Will stop what he’s doing just to go cheer up a friend or loved one and watch them smile again.

MATT 🧡

Red Flags 🚩

Interrupts A LOT. In any given conversation, he will interrupt and talk over someone else at least once every minute. Can get really annoying sometimes but in his defense, if he waits too long to speak up, he’ll just totally forget what he was gonna say.

Like Lance, I think Matt would be overly flirty and act like a Fuck boy sometimes. Like bro sit your nerd ass down, that person is SOOO out of your league plz chill.

Can not take anything seriously (unless it comes to his family or his or anyone else’s safety) but day to day, Matt makes so many dumb and inappropriate jokes at the worst times. Ugh 😒

Green Flags ✅

Very brotherly to everyone he considers a friend or family. Protective, constantly checking up on others, making sure they have eaten, asking if they need anything from him. He cares a lot. Bonus points bc he’s a very good brother to his actual sibling too. Aww Pidge and Matt are sibling goals. 🥹

HOT AS FUCK NO MATTER HIS HAIR STYLE/LENGTH. You can fight me on this. Matt is gorg and so is his hair at every single moment throughout the show.

Extremely accepting and open minded. Matt treats everyone he meets equally and never seems phased when he meets others so different from himself. He may ask some questions for the sake of his own curiosity, but would never pass judgment on another person.

Voltron: mermaid mischief

I wrote this skit based off of SquemonWrites fanfic Lured. I thought it would be a really funny little klance moment between Lance and Keith. Lance is a siren (type of mermaid). This skit takes place after Keith and the gang rescued shiro and Lance. Lance is recovering in the dolphin tank.

Keith decides to try and feed the siren. He figured Lance hasn’t eaten since they rescued him and brings out a bucket of fish.

Along with the fish, Keith also brings out his lunch. He figures he can eat while the siren eats. (His lunch consisting of a cheeseburger and fries.)

He puts down the bucket and to-go bag at the edge of the deck and starts wiggling his fingers in the water to get Lance’s attention. Lance pokes his head out of the water and looks at Keith.

Keith: hay! Come get some food!

The siren is hesitant at first but then swims up to Keith, looking at him suspiciously.

Keith: I brought lunch. here, Have some fish.

Keith takes a fish out of the bucket and hands it to lance. After that he pulls out his cheeseburger and unwraps it.

Without looking away from Keith, Lance takes the fish and chucks it. It lands a few feet behind Keith.

Keith: wtf? What’d you do that for?

Maybe Lance doesn’t like that particular type of fish?

Keith puts down his burger, takes out another fish and hands it to Lance. And again without looking away from Keith, Lance chucks the fish, it lands two feet away from the other fish.

Keith: seriously?! Why are you throwing your food? Don’t you like those fish?

This keeps going on a few more times. Keith hands Lance a fish, and Lance throws it away behind Keith. When the bucket is empty, the deck is littered with fish. Keith sighs and gets up to go pick up all the thrown fish. It takes him awhile because Lance had thrown all the fish in different directions and they were scattered all over the deck. Keith grumbles as he picks the fish up. When he has half of the fish in the bucket, he turns around to scold Lance for throwing his food around but stops cold.

Lance has dug into the to-go bag and is eating Keith’s cheeseburger.

Keith: HAY! GET OUT OF THERE! THATS MY LUNCH!

Keith runs to save his lunch but Lance sees him coming and swims off carrying the stolen cheeseburger in his mouth. After reaching the center of the dolphin tank, Lance turns around starts eating the cheeseburger happily.

Keith: you. Cheeky. Son of a bi-

Yeah, the thrown fish was all apart of Lance’s elaborate scheme to get the cheeseburger. Lol

It’s definitely a thing. I cannot begin to count the confessions from klancers who after the fact just said they always hated him. Or they wrote klance fics and you can tell it’s not a labor of love- with a confession later on that yes they hated lance and purposefully wrote him like That(tm) because they think he’s a selfish no good asshole. There’s actually a really popular klance fic I know whose writer said if they did a rewrite of it they don’t want it to be associated with lance at all.

And it’s just heartbreaking.

And I don’t know, with the years gone by the makeup of the fandom really shifted from loving lance to despising/resenting/couldn’t really give a shit for him. And it really feel like klancers who only really like keith led this charge. I’ve seen another klancer said Lance isn’t a noble character while only Keith is. There’s others who said he contributed nothing to the show but followed allura around.

Just from observation even if they don’t despise lance or to the degree above, it’s like many klancers don’t think of him as a character that’s worth investing in? Keith in current prevailing klance content is given a lot of leeway, excuses and characteristics to mull over (or in the previous ask ppl like that give him positive canon Lance traits) but Lance is just… there in their content. He’s canon alluranceLance but to keith: to be the support and make Keith feel better or loved or simp over without any nuance or reciprocal. His complex canon traits and the early deeper fandom traits are just given away because his role is just Keith’s love interest or, worst, to be the asshole that Keith rises above and be superior to but also falls in love.

And it’s more blatantly clear when they on the occasion just replace Lance with any other character in their content and it’s literally a cut and paste same character but different names. There’s no investment, no thought to Lance’s person and there’s no love to him when you can just replace him with hunk/matt/lotor/allura/etc with Keith and it’s the same dynamic, same relationship and Keith reacts the same way.

People can have their opinions blah blah but I feel like the popular opinion on Lance in the klance fandom had really deteriorated for the worst since allurance. Like people feel like they can’t be mad at allura because they don’t want to be seen as something (which is true cause it’s not alluras fault) but taking it out on the male character who equally was a victim of bad writing is A-okay and passable. I rather they just find a different ship for keith and leave lance out of it if they dont even like him or make an OC to be shipped with Keith and be done with it.

Okay. (deep inhale) Hold my beer.

Holy shit this is really sad.

And honestly a bit problematic in my opinion, if you look at it from a deeper level.

Because people not being able to find the good traits in Lance’s character (that are definitely there, like wtf) means that they (like the showrunners) are operating with the mindset that people have to be the best at something to have value.

One of the most interesting things about Lance’s character for me was his insecurities. Mainly, how he didn’t think he was contributing anything to the team because he felt like everyone around him was better.

But what would happen if you took Lance out of the equation?

The team would still function, yes. But they would function as coworkers, thrown into a situation and forced to get along because they had no other choice.

Lance was the human aspect of the team, and that is just as important as being tech savvy, or a skilled fighter.

And I cannot stress enough how important it is for people to understand that they still have worth; that they can still contribute even if they aren’t The Best.

And oh, yeah, there’s the little thing about how there literally wouldn’t be Voltron at all if Lance wasn’t there? Like in terms of contribution, thaaaaaaaat’s a pretty big one.

Also damn, it’s doing such a disservice to Keith’s character if people are writing him in such a way where his partner is just there to simp of fawn over him. To me, that seems extremely out of character and honestly just plain boring.

Any kind of relationship is only good if both parties are getting an equal amount out of it.

Klance is good imo because they work well together.

Keith grew up an orphan, never feeling like he belonged anywhere. Always being the one to leave first. Lance grew up with strong family values, but a ton of personal insecurities about not feeling good enough/ constantly being compared to others.

Keith embodies self-worth to Lance. Lance embodies home and family to Keith. They inspire each other, learn to trust each other, and challenge each other. But most importantly, they take no shit from each other.

I think this is where a writer would lose me if they are writing “Lance” who could easily be replaced by any other character, because the fun part of writing anything is learning to write the different ways characters might view the world or react to situations.

I get that some of these stories are most likely just Keith-glorification fics - and whatever, people can write what they write - but it will always be more interesting to me if someone actually takes the time to write a well-rounded character instead of just a space filler to just exist in the orbit of the character they really want to write.

And, look, I think I also deserve an award for waiting until the end to mention that the entire time, the gossipy bitch inside me was slamming her hand against the table demanding to know who this popular klance writer was you mentioned (out of sheer curiosity). But in all honesty I’m glad you kept it anonymous. :)

thank you so much for this 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 it still astounds me that there are people still not just like, following my socials but still reading my fics who were there 4-5 years ago when i was originally posting them

sometimes i have a complicated relationship with fics like squad up, just on a writing/technical level, and comments like these remind me of why i still keep it up

it originated just as a way for me to cope with day-to-day life because i was going through a lot when i was posting it. it was a transitional period in my life, my social life was in flux because of that, and i needed a way to escape. it touches me to know that i touched other people and was able to help them through their day-to-day lives, too.

especially on the portrayal of love in squad up, that fic honestly helped me figure out that i was bi and what i wanted out of a relationship. almost 5 years out now from when i first started writing squad up, and at about the same point in my relationship where keith and lance were in theirs when i was writing it (1 year and 10 months into mine, vs keith and lance being 1 year and almost 5 months into theirs in chapter 1), my outlook on relationships hasn’t changed, and i think that’s a testament to the way it’s kind of helped me figure out what i wanted

OK LOL DON'T DO THAT. Actually, I say that but I honestly love this idea a lot and it'd make Keith's reaction to Pico's sudden break up with him even more heartbreaking in retrospect.

After all, the friend you thought was dead this entire time suddenly shows up alive again after all of these years. Pico not knowing him can easily be handwaved as the ginger not having kept up with his old childhood friend's life (partly because he was more focused on making sure his family was okay and somewhat because he might've not trusted himself to not try to reconnect with his old friend perhaps? Who knows! You decide~!); Keith most likely hadn't had his transition back then so he still looked like a girl and went by his old name so makes sense Pico wouldn't recognize him. As for Keith not bringing it up, perhaps he wasn't fully sure this cranky ginger was the same friend he had known all those years ago. It'd make sense he'd refrain from informing Pico until he was absolutely certain.

Also this scenario would give more pain to Otis because in this verse Keith and his family would've kept in touch with Pico's family right? True there might be some unintentional distancing from those on the ginger's side but I imagine that's more in response to all of the shit that happened. ANYWAY back to Otis, imagine his reaction if Keith were to call him up soon after his first encounter with Pico to inform him. Perhaps Otis would confirm albeit not outright that perhaps it IS Pico (because let's be honest he wouldn't have the heart to fully lie to Keith there so make sense he'd hint at it). Maybe this bit doesn't happen but still something to think about! After all, just imagine the extra douse of angst here~

Oooooh. Consider Pico's reaction when he learns who Keith is too! I don't know if Keith will reveal who he is at some point or if he refrains for whatever reason (perhaps some part of him is worried about being accepted?? Maybe he still was hesitant for some reason??? IDEK). Since Pico later becomes convince Keith is a figment of his messed-up mind, it's very possible he would end up believing Keith isn't his old childhood friend. I can see him faltering for a moment, wanting to believe Keith is actually really and perhaps even almost giving into that hopeful side, only to shove it aside because of those stated reasons you gave before on why the breakup even happened.

Now imagine him, unlike before, mentioning a bit of Keith to Darnell and Nene, telling them about this supposed illusion of their old pal. Now imagine Darnell's and Nene's reactions later upon learning that the supposed illusion wasn't actually some figment of Pico's messed-up mind but ACTUALLY REAL. Now, not to say they wouldn't be understanding, but let's be real a part of them would still be like "Pico wtf".

Also please consider Grammy's reaction to seeing Pico again after he got reconciled with Keith and got together with him and Amelia. I dunno about you but I can't unsee her being accepting of him but also giving him a good smack with a slipper. Okay that last bit is probably ooc but wanted to mention because it was stuck in my head lmao

ANYWAY WOW THIS GOT VERY LONG LOL. SORRY ABOUT THAT.

As much as I'd love you to make this a part of their canon, I know you've already established quite a bit of stuff here already and I know all too well how frustrating it can be to go back to change stuff up. So don't worry about it okay? You can just make this like a one-shot thing or just something fun to ramble and imagine about.

I would love to make this an official thing, but I feel like I would have to change just enough stuff that it'd bug me, which friggin sucks. I also don't know if Keith would want to be with Pico again if this was canon, because to lose him a SECOND time would hurt. A bad part of his brain might make him believe that Pico was hiding from him with ill intention or something, so to have Pico yell and hold a gun to him that he's some fake illusion? That'll hurt

"Twice.. twice you're leaving me, and it doesn't make any sense!"

It's a great backstory, but it might have to be saved for another person's version of BF and Pico

Imma shamelessly bug you again::what are your thoughts on Altean halfblood Keith? Specifically, Keith’s dad was secretly an Altean sent with the blue lion to protect it and no one knows. So Keith is half Alean and half Galra. So obv Keith’s dad taught Keith (keith too young to remember now) to use his shape shifting abilities to look human. Explains how he goes galra sometimes. And also fits with LB cuz Lotor was shook that Keith looked 100% human yk? I’m just curious. I know it’s not canon LB

It’s not personally my cup of tea because I’m something a stickler for the finer details (shocker) and that would create a lot of narrative inconsistencies for me, but it is an interesting premise! Certainly if Keith were an Altean/Galra hybrid that would serve as an explanation for his Galra moments, but more than that it would also strengthen the parallels between him and Lotor so I can only imagine that the draw between them would be even stronger because of it.

Like Ghosts

!!!SPOILERS!!!

Directly after Season 4, Episode 6.

Shiro’s voice sounded over the comms. “Everyone, convene at the Castle. Whatever Lotor’s up to, we need to be careful, and I want everyone together. I don’t like this.”

Keith’s heart was still hammering against his ribcage, and he didn’t notice that tears were gathering until they blurred his vision and spilled over the corners of his eyes. His entire being had been gripped and mangled by fear, but he was ready to do it. He was ready to die -- for the universe, for his team.

For Shiro.

But death wasn’t ready to take him yet, leaving him crushed under the weight of all of his regrets, each one passing through him like ghosts. He would have died with so many of them, haunting him until the very last breath.

Keith exhaled shakily as he ran a hand down his face, wiping away the layer of sweat that coated his skin. It was over. It was over, and he was still alive. He steered his ship toward the Castle, and even as he tightened his grip on the controls, he couldn’t stop his hands from trembling.

He was one of the last ones to make it to the Castle with Matt’s ship right behind him. As he stepped onto the hangar, he turned toward the sound of deliberate footsteps stomping toward him.

“Keith, what the hell were you thinking?!” Matt shouted, throwing his arms into the air as he approached him, stopping when there was only a couple of feet between them.

Keith was surprised to see how just how angry Matt was, but what really took him off guard were the tears glossing over his eyes. Still, he couldn’t help but feel defensive, hot indignation bursting inside of his chest as he took a step toward his friend. “It was the only way. Don’t you understand? Everyone would have died! You, me, Shiro -- everyone!”

It was like Matt didn’t even hear him. “God, Keith, seriously, what would Shiro think if he knew--”

He felt a sudden panic strike through him. “Shiro will never know,” Keith growled, taking another step forward. “He has enough on his mind already without having to worry about me, alright? Don’t you say a word to him. Matt, swear to me.”

Matt cast his gaze off to the side as he gritted his teeth, and Keith watched as he reigned in his emotions. The rebel operative exhaled a deep sigh through his nose before looking up to meet Keith in the eyes once again. “Fine. I won’t say a word. I just… damn it, Keith, this is the first time I’ve seen you since… since the day we left for Kerberos. Suddenly, I had my sister and my friends back, and then you go and pull a stunt like that.”

“I know, I’m sorry,” Keith muttered, relieved that the tension was beginning to defuse, though the muscles in his shoulders still felt tight. “I’m glad Pidge found you. It’s really good to see that you’re okay.”

“Likewise, obviously. C’mon. We better meet up with the others.”

Keith nodded, leading the way to the bridge. As he walked through the Castle corridors, he could feel the weight growing heavier. Shiro didn’t need to know what nearly happened. He didn’t need to know that Keith’s last thoughts were how much he loved him. How his death would be worth it a million times over if it meant that Shiro was safe, along with everyone else.

He had been keeping his feelings to himself for so long. What was one more secret? One more regret?

Keith shuddered as he felt another ghost pass through him.

Lance hates space.

Okay, alright, ‘hate’ is a strong word. Space is not that bad once you find the laundry chambers and the switch on the food goo machine to change flavors.

But still, as in right now? Yeah, Lance heavily dislikes space.

Lance sighs as he leans back on the couch of the longue, eyes fixed on Shiro and Allura as they try to communicate even though Shiro is spilling out only japanese words and Lance is not sure if Allura is speaking actual words in Altean or if she’s just grunting out sounds.

Getting hit by a laser ray that the only thing it did to them was to put a language barrier between them is honestly the lowest dangerous thing it has happened to them, to be honest, but Lance is sure as hell still going to complain.

“Cuánto tiempo hasta que se callen?” Lance asks out loud, not bothering to keep his voice down because it’s not like anyone other than Hunk can understand him anyways.

Lance is almost jealous, because while his friend’s roots are from Hawaii, the first language he learnt was english, quickly followed by his second mother’s native one that was Polynesian. Kudos to Hunk, who can actually still communicate with the entire team, somewhat, until Pidge finds a way to reverse this.

Hunk hums besides him, eyes never leaving his tablet. “Uh, I dunno? I lost track of the time a while ago and they’re still going; if you want them to shut up you might as well throw a pillow at them.”

Lance is tempted, alright, but he also doesn’t have a death wish, so he limits himself to groan loud and obnoxiously.

Someone shouts something at him then, on his left side and Lance has been around the language war that has been going on for the last few hours to know it’s neither altean or japanese. Lance blinks, turns his head and then purses his lips when he catches Keith’s annoyed glare focused on him.

“Que dijiste?” Lance asks, mouth twitching already because the words only makes Keith to glare harder.

Keith repeats himself; words that makes no sense to Lance being short, sharp and clearly irritated.

Lance thinks he’s saying ‘shut up’, and the only clue that Lance has of this is because that’s Keith’s pout whenever he says that to Lance on a normal day.

Doesn’t mean he gotta listen to Keith though.

“Ay, perdón pero no te entiendo, corazón,” Lance says casually, throwing a teasing smile towards the angry Korean teen and ignoring the way Hunk chokes behind him, “Pero da igual, sigues estando guapo.”

“Oh my god, Lance.” Hunk laughs, hiding his face with his hands as he shakes with laughter, “Are you seriously flirt -”

Lance elbows Hunk before he can even finish his sentence. Just because they can’t understand each other’s languages, they all understand english still. There’s no way Lance is letting Keith know that he’s actually flirting with him.

“Hunk!” Lance shushes, rolling his eyes when his friend only raises both of his hands in fake innocence, knowing full well the other teen was not sorry in the least.

“Okay, Okay, I’m leaving to look for Pidge and see how is she doing.” Hunk stands up, still shaking his head in amusement before he leaves the longue, “Let me know how this ends!”

Keith’s scowls turns into a confused expression, eyes following Hunk’s back until he disappears behind the door and then looking back at Lance, arching an eyebrow. Lance pushes down the urge to coo at that because because damn it, Keith looks adorable.

Not the time to gush about your crush, Lance –

The thought makes him pause. Lance stares right back at Keith, eyebrows furrow together in deep thought and he sees the way Keith shifts under his gaze, curiosity and what could almost be concern lingering in his eyes.

“Lance?” Keith says, his heavy native accent clear on his voice and it makes Lance to snap back to reality, a smile grin starting to spread over his face.

Well, well, well, if Lance can’t flirt with his crush in english because hello? rejection, no thank you, he might as well do it while he can now.

“Si el agua fuese belleza, tú serias el océano entero,” Lance says, throwing his arms wide above him to emphasize his pick up line but it only makes Keith to tilt his head to the side in curiosity, blinking in confusion.

“Lance.” Keith huffs, lips turning into a pout that only encourages Lance to continue.

“Ojalá fueras bombero para apagar el fuego de mi deseo,” Lance continues, heart beating wild inside him but pushing himself forward because this is his only chance, his only chance to let all of this feelings go and maybe then he could move on.

It was worth a try.

It goes on for a while; Lance throwing every single pick up line he could think of and his heart skips a beat when Keith’s responses are now only small puffs of breaths that could easily pass for a laugh and a small shy smile decorating his face.

God, the things this boy makes him feel.

Shiro and Allura’s voices are quieter now, Coran now standing between them as a mediator, but Lance pays them no mind. He focuses on the way Keith relaxes against the couch, palm pressed against his cheek as he stares at Lance and nods at him to continue.

Does he likes the way Lance’s voice sounds like? Does he actually enjoys his company? What happened to annoyed Keith? What –?

Keith speaks up then, Korean words falling from his lips smoothly and naturally and he frowns when Lance stays quiet.

“Lance?” Keith asks, leaning forward and Lance swallow, throat suddenly dry.

Lance just stares down at Keith, unblinking as he drowns in their color and it’s in that moment when Lance realizes that he’s a fool and he might never actually escape from these feelings.

He’s not even sure if he wants to.

“Ojalá la mitad de las estrellas brillaran tanto como tus ojos,” Lance says quietly, eyes leaving Keith’s for a split of a second to look down at his lips before looking back up but he still hears Keith’s soft gasp, he sees the way Keith’s eyes fall down to his own lips and Lance might actually die in space.

Lance loves space all of the sudden.

“Ay, Dios, por favor, besame,” he whispers lowly and doesn’t notice the way Keith’s breath hitches, heart on his throat as he repeats his desire, “Just one kiss, please.”

He freezes, mouth snapping close when he hears his own words, back in english and he looks away from Keith, eyes meeting the rest of the team’s eyes as they stare at them with big wide eyes and Lance suddenly realizes that the room turned silent all of the sudden.

Lance blinks, eyes falling to the small device on Pidge’s hand.

“Um, I fixed it.” Pidge laughs weakly, shaking the small machine in her hands and Lance allows himself two seconds to process that she is no longer speaking italian but actual english.

Lance hates space.

“Uh….” Lance says, not daring to look back at Keith as he swallows the lump on his throat, “Is there any possible outtake that we can pretend the last few minutes never happened?”

The team whistles, slowly making their escapade as subtly as they can, whish is no subtle at all, and Lance barely has time to glare at them before someone pulls him back to the couch by the hood and two hands are cupping his cheeks.

“There’s none,” Keith says before he leans down and kisses Lance; slow, almost shyly, and the smile creeping up on Lance is almost too big that it might break the kiss but neither of them mind because there’s a first, and then a second and then a third kiss until Lance’s lying on the couch with Keith’s pressure above him and there’s no longer any kind of barriers.

Yeah, okay, so back to square one: ‘hate’ is a strong word because Lance loves space.

Tiger and Bunny S2

I cant believe we got a S2 and its as good as S1. First things first, lets talk about the buddy system:

Antonio and Ivan

I don't have much to say aside from Im not so sure about their partnership it feels they paired all of the others first and they were the leftovers. If anyone has something to add to this, go ahead.

Subaru and Thomas

Im not fond of either but they may get more development on the next cour, although I admit I would be interest on a vigilante Thomas arc if they dare to do it. They finally are on good terms so I might warm up to them next time but for now their flaws (impulsiveness/distrust) are too extreme to be a balanced team.

Nathan and Keith

Who would have thought those two veterans would be the Dream Team? (Sorry, Tiger and Bunny...). I loved all of their appearances and they are so wholesome, a great match in personality and powers. Nathan is fantastic they really let them be their glorious self on this season, and Keith continues to be his himbo self, now with a new dog.

Pao and Lara

Kid grew up so much, I love her older sister vibe, she is so good at it and we get to see a new side of her, also Lara’s arc is fantastic and quite realistic also wtf they let 14yos fight crime. Lara being afraid and not being able to use her powers and being the weakest link on the hero team up is to be expected, kudos to her to standing up to her mom.

Karina and Ryan

My biggest surprise is that I like Ryan now, they really fleshed out his character and he is a great match for Karina. They balance each other out perfectly, she can call him out and he helps her to go after the things she wants, they help the other grow and become a better person. I honestly expected nothing from this teamup (mostly Ryan) but color me surprised I enjoyed their dynamic so much. It is clear Karina is still in love with Kotetsu but maybe she will benefit of having Ryan as a friend and as a somewhat positive male role.

Tiger and Bunny

They continue to be an old married couple and before I go on I need to say that whomever who had the idea for the jealously episode should get a raise. Also this show is so well written, all of the characters are likable, have motivations and arcs, they managed to mix the slice of life with action and character development perfectly, all of them get their spotlight.

This cour was so good and it liked up to S1. Things I loved:

Keith has a second dog

The duo’s banter, trust

Barnaby has plant friends

Good use of angst, I swear anime/TV shows rarely use angst

All heroes show weakness! We see them being afraid, they cry, they are scared, and all its presented as natural and normal, no judging

Everyone has their chance to shine

Kaede

All of the parents/grandparents hiding their worry/ dealing with it differently

The new characters are good additions to the narrative

The fights were brutal

The hospital angst, hospital parallels

Barnaby once again having a terrible christmas

Barnaby finally having 1 friend who is not evil

The villains and main conflict was good/ makes sense and sets the stage for the 2nd cour
