it still boggles my mind that if I had applied solo for this mortgage I would've been rejected, even though I have good credit & stuff. I could "afford" a $1700 apartment smacking of landlord special & mold & a giant fucking hole in my ceiling they never fixed & two broken kitchen lights they never fixed & a balloon of paint in a different spot on the ceiling that was full of water because the apartment was water damaged n run down anyway before I moved in but I apparently couldn't afford a $560 mortgage payment for a decent, kinda old ish house but clean & not hazardous. okay silly ass

#it drives me crazy bc my aunt's credit is absolute garbage but if i hadn't applied with her i 100% would've been rejected #but like those living conditions are what everyone is stuck with if they aren't lucky enough to have someone who can be on a mortgage #with them #there are literally thousands of empty houses in youngstown alone that could be part of a solution to housing #but no the citys brilliant idea is to just one by one rip them all down & let people be stuck in shithole apartments #amazing planning incredible use of resources #like i just made my first mortgage payment & am just sitting here like holy shit i have so much money left over???#i can afford groceries & the rest of my utilities w/out anxiety everyone under age 30 is being robbed blind #once again thats 560 for an ENTIRE HOUSE not a small broom closet apartment a home with three bedrooms a finished basement & a sunroom #like it is absolutely INSANE that so many ppl are just straight up barred from accessing this its absolutely criminal #its an irrefutable act of violence to force ppl to live in squalor or with nothing at all when they could easily have safe housing #BECAUSE THE HOUSES ARE JUST SITTING THERE
