North Node battles-J.cole/Drake/Kendrick Lamar
I was having a convo with my mom about the whole kendrick lamar & drake beef and got inspired.
We were talking about how Cole chose peace and it benefitted him so i decided to pull his chart.
J.Cole's North Node is in Taurus (idk the house). Taurus NN should strive for peace and letting things be instead of going tit for tat (Scorpio sn). Instead of revenge, they should just let things be and take themselves out of tension (Scorpio) filled situations and move towards comfort(taurus). His Scorpio Saturn in opp his NN which shows how he initially responded with "might delete later". In work settings (Saturn) he's more likely to feed into the drama (scorp) which is leading him into the wrong direction (opp taurus nn). So for my Taurus NN ppl out there, don't argue, don't be petty, don't be in tumultuous situations...Choose Peace boo.
Then I got curious and thought "hmm what's Kendrick's NN?"
Well, well, well...
His NN is in ARIES
He should always be ready for war (aries). Keeping the peace would've actually been detrimental (libra sn). Not speaking up and letting it slide would've only caused more issues. He's obviously in his NN since it was 2nd nature for him to respond very quick (aries) might i add. Also standing alone. Aries NN don't need other ppl to back them up, they need to stand alone. Think about it, his songs with no features seem to do the best. His Gemini Venus sextile NN, so speaking out (gem) esp thru songs (venus) will always benefit him.
Drakes NN Is Aries but this is how things started going left for him
He was never really following his NN at all
Instead of directly releasing (aries nn)his first diss track & claiming it, he leaked his own track & waited to get approval from others (libra sn) before claiming it.
For the 2nd track (taylor made freestyle)
Instead of standing alone how aries nn should do...he used the voices of 2 other ppl. Libra rules over collaborations. Therefore, this was never really going to work
For meet the family, he mentioned him trying to "keep it pg"...which is not beneficial to him.
& in his last track, he threw in the white flag...
Aries nn should always go until the opposing party taps out. Aries nn should always stand alone and not be dependent on other ppl. Aries nn should always say it with their chest & no retractions. Aries Nn should never wait for the approval of others in any way, shape or form.

Things I learned while consuming media about this Kendrick vs Drake feud as someone who isn't from the US
Drake's real name is Aubrey
Kendrick is a Pulitzer Prize for Music winner (amazing if you know what it means to have one)
Drake has an ongoing feud with practically everybody in that community
There was someone else in this feud who removed themselves from the equation because they didn't want to be part of the massacre
Drake used AI to recreate Tupac and Snoop's voices as if he didn't know copyright infringement exists
Drake has tons of ghostwriters
Things I did know before this feud even started

I think it's very fascinating that, back to back, we have had a pair of what I want to call system shocks on tumblr.
The first wave was the beef between Kendrick and Drake. The beef reached truly titanic levels in order to breach containment and reach our shores in any real way. What was then immediately revealed is that a very loud (if not actually numerous) portion of the tumblr userbase is not simply ignorant of rap music, but proudly so, and not just proudly so, but ignorant of it in ways that have become stereotypes of rap critics. Accusations of violence, misogyny, and difficulty of understanding it were particularly visible to me. With a side helping of racism. The response to this was twofold: tumblr users either got into some damn funny fights when idiots doubled down on their ignorance, or they were curious and we got some damn good recommendations.
The second event was this week: The AO3 Ship Bracket finals: Destiel vs Suletta. The strongest yaoi of the past vs the strongest yuri of today. As Sulemio tore through the polls, again this trend emerged! Deeply incurious, proudly ignorant people parroting criticisms of anime that have become stereotypes anime fans repeat to make fun of critics! Accusations of sexualization, misogyny, and obscurity were particularly visible to me. With a side helping of racism. And then, just like last time, people split off into two camps. The first was idiots without any actual knowledge of Gundam showing up to crow about Destiel like the franchise isn't older than some of their parents. The second was some really good recommendation threads with people willing to learn (just start on Witch From Mercury, it's fine, then maybe watch The Origin or something, other people have better recs than me).
I think it's really interesting that tumblr's userbase has been exposed for being really inflexible and driven into a rut in its fandom spaces. And defensively so. I think that expanding your horizons is good for you for a lot of reasons, but avoiding looking like a jackass on tumblr is a really good incentive, I think.

Sometimes rap beefs feel like...boxing. Sure it's a fight but you agreed to be there, it's mutual combat. This feels like Kendrick has hate in his heart for this man. He put a pox on Drizzy's house. Meet the Grahams feels like a curse tablet from Rome. This feels like Kendrick been holding this in for a minute and is getting things off his chest.

Not to get overly sentimental but rap beef is honestly such a creative form of expression. Like we’re going to hold off on kicking the shit out of each other and calling up shooters to make clever rhymes about each other and get the common man saying words like ‘double entendre.’
Here’s a couple of suggestions of other diss tracks to listen to if you’ve found you’ve liked bitchy poetry:
Ether - Nas (2001) - diss track vs Jay Z & widely considered to be one of the best diss tracks ever released. It’s a response to Jay Z’s diss ‘Takeover’ which at the time of its release left people thinking Nas’ career was over and then Nas uno reversed that shit with Ether and it’s still considered to be a miracle that Jay Z managed to maintain his fame.
Hit ‘em up - 2Pac (1996) -diss track vs Biggie & Bad Boy records. Part of the East Coast / West Coast beef. 2Pac was shot 5 times and survived and Biggie released a song called ‘Who Shot Ya.’ Hit em up is Pac’s response and it’s iconic. Plus the tune is groovy as shit.
Real Muthaphuckkin’ G’s - Eazy E (1993) - Dr Dre left his group NWA over a dispute about contracts/pay. He later released a song called ‘Fuck with Dre Day’ where he had a go at Eazy E (the lead rapper of NWA). Eazy released this in response and it’s another groovy, west coast banger.
Story of Adidon- Pusha T (2018) - Pusha T walked so Kendrick Lamar could run. Need I say more.
No Vaseline - Ice Cube (1991) - vs remaining members of NWA. Cube was the first to leave NWA over contracts/pay disputes. The remaining members released an album, with subtle disses against him. Ice Cube, as Ice Cube does, got pissed.
Life’s on the Line - 50 Cent (2003) - adding this because 50 Cent hates as easily as he breathes and it’s something to marvel at. His beef with Ja Rule started in ‘99 when Ja Rule was robbed by 50’s people and then one thing lead to another and 50 was stabbed and then he was shot 9 times. ‘Time is the best medicine-‘ no. no it’s not. If anything 50 gets angrier through the years. 19 years later 50 bought 200 tickets to Ja Rule’s concert so the front rows were completely empty.
