i saw this image and immediately thought of them
don’t worry guys, i wont leave this blog to rot. now more than ever i wanna make content for this series, especially with the mini breaks between chapters! <3
also yes, mild design change, i drew them with their outfits but stylized in a way to work better since they’re dogs, but also not just a neck accessory. i think it’s very cute!

Congrats!! I like your analysises(?) and I've been meaning to ask you this for a while, but what do you think this panel means?
Thank you for your question!! This is actually my favorite Astolfo panel and this chapter in general is brilliant actually. I’d love to talk about it in depth sometime soon. My interpretation of this panel was Astolfo’s self-hatred manifesting into a very striking image. In chapter 58, we see Astolfo attempt sui@ide because he blames himself dearly for the massacre of his family.
So this panel shows how he wishes he died that day. It’s also interesting that his head is being sliced by Roland’s blade instead of a picture of him dead under a group of vampires. This seems intentional and could mean he finds himself undeserving of Roland. Undeserving of salvation because Astolfo is under the impression at this point that Roland has abandoned him. His God has left him so he should’ve died like the vampire boy Roland slayed in saving his life. Since to Astolfo he is just as guilty.
Finally the words themselves “Who do we kill next?” is showing Astolfo’s spiral into self-destruction. As killing is what gives his life purpose now. Paladins killed the vampire boy’s family so the boy killed Astolfo’s family. Now Astolfo is continuing the cycle of violence and he knows this but breaking it means forgiving himself.
Something he cannot find the strength to do.

The De Sade twins really fell in love for the same boy and neither of them got with him. Who has the better chance? Domi’s alive so it isn’t 0% but I really think Noé subconsciously liked Louis back.
