Song Review: Jeremy Spencer - “Silver Linin’”
You gotta look up, Jeremy Spencer sings over the sound of thunder.
It’s the intro to “Silver Linin’,” a rare non-instrumental single from the former Fleetwood Man guitarist. A laid-back bit of country blues, with languid slide guitar up front, it’s a soothing piece of music and a good message as Spencer sings:
There’s always a silver linin’/inside the darkest cloud of rain/there’s always a golden dawn on the rise/after the darkest night of pain
But the Spencer of 2023 is a poor vocalist and he delivers the words though a thick-tongued, American accent that almost sounds as if he’s messin’ with his listeners.
Maybe he is. Maybe he isn’t.
But if he is, it isn’t funny. And if he ain’t …
