Oh my fucking god??? I *knew* there was something fishy with no writers/quest designers being credited. Also: outsourcing is not an excuse not to credit the gamedevs doing hard and deserving work.
This is genuinely contemptful towards everyone involved, gamedevs and players alike.
the tradegy of charles finding out that the first major decision he had made in his life was an orchestrated test by his father that his mother knowingly let him walk into because she knew she could only save one of her sons from their father
Other titles I thought of: The Burden, Pain and Power, Compassion.
Please feel free to ignore me, I'm just crying on the floor having more Ashton and Laudna feels then I should be. Platonic or romantic, doesn't matter to me, I just want them to be happy!!! (Also I may or may not relate way more to Ashton then I feel comfortable with, they're just a really good character, like, damn bro.)
The fact that Ashton was willing to sacrifice so much for his friend just to bring her back to life really tugs at my aromantic heartstrings. It means everything to me.
Another aspect of this whole shitty discourse that's been driving me insane is that I feel like I can't actually express the criticisms I do have of Israel at all or in an unvarnished way, because if I do, it will get picked up by antisemites and people who want Israel wiped off the map and just be more fuel for the fire. I refuse to be a token and I don't want to hang out dirty laundry at a time when doing that gets Jews attacked and feeds into violent hatred for the entirety of Israel. At the same time, I feel morally obligated to discuss these things, because (a) I care about the lives it's impacting and (b) because I also refuse to be a hypocrite that prioritizes "being right" over the facts on the ground, one of the worst and most common sins in these discussions.
So then I constantly find myself doing crazy math to figure out what I can and can't responsibly speak on, because what if it gets used as a weapon against my people instead of being necessary intra-Jewish tochecha?
Thinking about Caleb “I-use-people’s-full-names-to-show-intimacy” Widogast and the way he calls Veth “Veth the Brave.” It’s not all the time—it’s rarely used, actually, saved for specific moments, only when he’s using the fondest of tones, with the most admiration, and how calling her that is more intimate than just “Veth Brenatto.” Because Veth the Brave is both of her identities. It’s Nott and it’s Veth, it’s their co-mingling, it’s her in her entirety. Veth the Brave. That’s why it’s so intimate, because he is speaking to all of who she is
can we. can we talk about how in the final lucien fight, Essek failed to resist the slow effect from one of the eyes (he rolled two natural 1s in a row). canonically, he was weighed down with with so much shame and guilt that he could barely move—the same guilt that he is seriously considering going back in time to undo—and he didn’t use his fortune’s favor reroll to try to alleviate it.
but he did expend his mote of possibility when he struggled to pull Caleb out from under a building. no hesitation.
so. so. was he saving his fortune’s favor for the mighty nein? had he already decided not to use it for himself?
homeboy really said “I would break the world to undo my sins, but I will bear them if it means you survive.”
Among the reasons I don't trust that the writers of HotD understand the story they're trying to tell is that even with the baffling changes made to darken his character, Daemon is the only one talking sense in Episode 10 and yet it's clear the writers don't want you to think that.
