logo creation

For the logo design, I wanted to include other aspects from the Chinese culture other than the Chinese characters seen across my designs, as shophouses have both Chinese and European architecture influences. The logo took inspiration from the first two knots (first image) and was simplified into basic shapes.

Text placement :

In the first experiment of incorporating the name into the logo, I had only included the Chinese version of the name into it but realised that not everyone (the audience) who comes across it is able to read Chinese therefore, I decided to include the romanization of Chinese.

Symbol :

In the logo design I wanted to incorporate a symbol that is familiar to 'Penangite or Penang Lang' - the residence of Penang. After research I found out that the 'areca-nut palm, known as 'pokok pinang' in Malay, symbolises the tree from which Penang got its name.' The areca-nut palm is also seen on the Penang flag, therefore I decided to incorporate the tree into the logo.

THE LOGO :

I had readjusted the logo stroke from 2 to 1.5 as I found the line too think making the logo look chunky. Looking at the two base shapes, I prefer the first one as it looks?
