Repostober day 9: Recipes!! (Almost) all of the illustrated recipes I've done over the last year or so, mostly fanworks! I plan to do more quick and easy recipe pages with Antlers, but we also have a bonus Psychonauts fan recipe, one for Jabroni Mike, and one for Izzzyzzz!
Was bored tonight so I made myself this recipe card for the empty recipe box sitting in my kitchen that I got at the start of the pandemic. I’ve been trying to collect recipes from my family members and lately I have been going to the library a lot so I’ve been flipping through a lot of cook books and stuff for inspiration! Maybe I could make some to sell at my table?
Also I call different types of food genres, it’s a thing with me and @ferncomics for example Chinese, Italian, Irish or sometimes it’s even simpler and genres can just mean soup, chicken, pasta, ect.
Biryani recipe illustrated by someone who never cooks ✌️
------
[ID: A recipe illustration that shows steps in preparing Biryani, a South Asian rice dish. Steps are divided by a swirling wisp of grey steam.
In the first step, a brown skinned person wearing an orange sweater is chopping some onions.
In the second step, various ingredients are spilling from a large steel pot. This includes vegetables, herbs, and meat, that will make up a curry.
Step three, the person from before is lifting a wooden spoon of cooked rice from a pot of rice. The flame is still lit under this pot.
In the fourth step, the pot of rice and the pot of curry are partially cropped out, making way for a third pot. In it, the rice and curry are layered on top of each other using a spoon.
The final step shows the finished Biryani, held up by the person in a red dish. The food is glowing a golden hue. \End ID]
Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Grease a 7cm-deep, 20cm round cake pan. Line base and sides with baking paper.
Step 2
Using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and orange rind until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each addition. Fold in flour, almond meal and milk. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Smooth surface. Sprinkle top with rhubarb. Bake for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted in centre comes out clean. Stand in pan for 10 minutes. Turn out onto a wire rack.
Step 3
Meanwhile, make Orange syrup: Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/3 cup cold water. Stir to combine. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes or until sugar dissolves (do not boil). Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened. Strain syrup into a jug. Discard rhubarb.
Storage:
This cake can be stored for up to 2 days in an airtight container at room temperature, or refrigerated to up to 5 days. Store syrup in an airtight container in the fridge. If you wish to serve the cake warm, reheat in a 100C/80C oven for about 10 minutes. Reheat syrup in a microwave on MEDIUM (50%) for 30 seconds. Drizzle warm syrup over cake.
I was very happy to be part of this zine and make a full illustration for this game, thank you to the mods for this and for your work, everything looks so good!
