My entry for the FanFest EU 2023 art contest! I had the idea somewhere in my mind ever since I finished Endwalker... wanted to show the winding journey through the Aitiascope dungeon
I made it as a finalist, which I'm still so blown away and happy about...

Whenever people are talking about the things Werlyt did right or wrong I’m always baffled that no one ever brings up the fact that Mr. Cape Westwind was revealed to be hot as fuck. I guess we don’t get the greatest look at Rhitahtyn but we get enough of a look to know he resembles Gladio from FFXV and like, damn, man. I just think we should appreciate him more is all

The last week or so has been wild. I got through so much, and finally finished ARR!! @g-r-i-m-a helped me with Castrum, Praetorium, and Porta Decumana :)
I feel like I'm finally starting to know more about Dal and how he would react in situations. I wish I could write or draw as quickly as my thoughts come to me. You'll just have to stay tuned!

He was a fierce foe. Despite not being Garlean at birth, it was clear how he had gained the position he had. He matched us atbevery turn. His devotion and loyalty to the empire were unshakable. But in the end however. He was laid low.
We had successfully started the campaign. Now we had to see it through to the end.

"Didn't Quite Make It" Poll
Propaganda (including the Estinien rant I alluded to a while back, which is probably the outside edge of allowable propaganda) and images below.
Tumblr media
Erik: "talks down to the wol constantly, assumes they're an unintelligent musclehead, preaches to his fellow ala mhigans about the 'correct' way to rebel against garlemald in a similar tone, generally kind of a massive dickhead through the majority of the questline"
Tumblr media
Estinien: "I HATE HIS STUPID GUTS. “OHHHH IM THE AZURE DRAGOON. THE ONLY AZURE DRAGOON!” BITCH NIDHOGG’S EYEBALL COULDNT RESIST ME AND MADE ME THE SECOND AZURE DRAGOON. BUT DO YOU TELL ISHGARD? DO YOU EVEN TELL YOUR BESTIE AYMERIC? NO. I BEAT YOUR ASS AND THEN YOU HAVE THE GALL TO CASUALLY BRING UP THE TIME YOU TRIED TO KILL ME LIKE ITS A FUNNY HAHA MEMORY. AND THEN LIKE SOME DUMBASS YOU CONVENIENTLY FORGET THAT NIDHOGG POSSESSED YOU ALREADY AND GET YOUR HANDS ON BOTH OF HIS JUICY EYEBALLS. YOU DIDN’T EVEN THINK OF OFFERING ONE TO ME! ME! THE SECOND AZURE DRAGOON WHO IS CONVENIENTLY HERE AND COULD HAVE PREVENTED YOU GETTING POSSESSED. AND ON TOP OF THAT YOU STOLE ALPHINAUD FROM ME. I WAS THERE ALONGSIDE HIM WHEN ALL OF UL’DAH WAS AGAINST US BUT INSTEAD HE LOOKS UP TO YOU JUST BECAUSE YOU TAUGHT HIM TO COLLECT FIREWOOD. THIS ISNT EVEN ALL OF WHY I HATE HIM. FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT PISS RAT WHO CAN’T EVEN DEAL WITH MOOGLES FOR A FEW MINUTES WHILE IM BUSTING MY ASS DOING FETCH QUESTS FOR A STUPID MINION LOCKED BEHIND TRIBAL QUESTS."
Tumblr media
G'raha Tia: "He was an annoying little shit (I love him now though. I’m so sorry G’Raha T^T)" (Note: the submitter specified that this was just for his appearance in the Crystal Tower raids and not later on)
Tumblr media
Hancock: "Just look. At his face. He is a smug little capitalist bastard who just happens to be on our side."
Tumblr media
Khloe: "the myth of three lines"
Tumblr media
Krile: "Spends her first interactions clowning on Alphinaud pretty harshly and while he usually deserves it he is also my baby and I want to kick her ass for it"
Tumblr media
Lue-Reeq: "Brags about having so much money, gives out pocket change he mooched from his parents. Whines when the WoL has a poorly-timed Echo. Prevented me from having quality time with the Bard Boys in ShB."
Tumblr media
Radlia: "I’m gonna be honest her facial expressions are fun to imagine socking her to but I’m mostly submitting her because I feel bad for ranting about my personal vendetta against est*nien earlier. She’s a lovely heel character! Very punchable." (Note: this was the same submitter as the above Estinien rant)
Tumblr media
Rhitahtyn: "Poor bastard. I'd say beating him isn't even fun anymore but the new solo duty is actually very cool."
Tumblr media

7. Have they gone through any physical changes? What scars have they collected, and how do they feel about them? Did they sprout horns or other features as a result of spells or pacts gone wrong? How did light corruption impact them? Or have they walked away miraculously unscathed? Are they more peculiar for how eerily unmarred they are? (x)
Corisande has not experienced many drastic physical changes since the start. The only major scar they have is the burn scar on their right wrist from the fight against Rhitahtyn sas Arvina before the Praetorium, but they do have some other light scars they've picked up from various battles. They don't really like to think about that one and for a long time they hid it with long sleeves, because the healing process was very traumatic for them, as they healed it themself when they did not have much experience with healing. They have some other minor scarring from various battles but nothing as dramatic as the burn.
But not all the physical changes have been so painful! Corisande was not much for exercise when her only job was summoner. As she picked up other jobs, she found herself becoming more active and as a result is more physically strong/resilient than she used to be.

Warrior of Light vs. Azem: Manami Bansho and Hephateon of Amaurot
Manami’s childhood covered the length and breadth of Doma on foot as she trailed behind her traveling healer father and studied bow and blade at her mother’s knee. Forced into conscription by Garlemald, her prodigious talent for armorcraft and smithing flourished further in magitek engineering, and she eventually became Mana jen Bansho under the auspices of Rhitahtyn sas Arvina. Following word that her father had been conscripted and killed by resistance forces in far-off Bozja, she defected by throwing herself and her prototype magitek weapons into the Rhotano during pitched combat with the pirates of Limsa Lominsa. Rescued and recruited, the pugnacious firebrand swore to never bend the knee or hold her peace ever again.
The burning embers within her echo back to a forgotten age, where a harsh and relentless researcher pushed every boundary of what was and what could be, eyes ever-fixed forward to shepherd and safeguard the hopes of all life.

From the Life and Journals of Phoenyx Eldritch
Heyooo here’s the next part of his story that I actually have written. This is currently the second and final chapter that I have for ARR as I haven’t gotten around to going back and writing things from that era yet. But this is actually the first piece I wrote about him while playing! It’s also the first “journal” piece, so it’s in first person, so have fun with that. Enjoy!

PART I: A REALM REBORN
Chapter Two / Journal Entry #1
As the Ultima fell, collapsing into nothingness, I watched the inferno of its destruction burn around me. The group of adventurers who so honorably aided me in this plight made their escape while they could. I remained, the feeling that things were not yet finished gnawing at me. The reappearance of Lahabrea confirmed my suspicions. It had been but a fool's hope to believe that he would leave his enemy to simply walk out after the defeat of Ultima. As was inevitable, his attention tore away from the unconscious body of Gaius van Baelsar and focused upon me.
My heart ached as he spoke to me. Not because of his words, but because of the vessel he puppeteered to deliver them. Thancred, who wanted naught but to do his duty to the Scions, and whose pressure upon himself led to such a cruel fate. To see such a kind, honorable man have his will and power stripped from him... A man that, admittedly, I love. Hard as I try, I cannot deny the feelings I have for him. Feelings that only grew stronger in his absence. All the time spent worrying over his fate after the attack at the Waking Sands, only to find he suffered a fate worse than death or capture.
I should have known. He'd grown distant, refused to speak with me while I was away dealing with primal threats in Limsa Lominsa. Had I not been running rampant slaying beasts and proving my worth to those who know me not, perhaps I could have caught it sooner. Perhaps he would be fighting alongside us, Noraxia and the others still living. But alas, we were afforded no such fortune. However, this was no time to dwell on what could have been. Now I finally had the chance to free him from this fate.
"You will not leave this place alive." Lahabrea threatened.
Those words filled me with an uncanny strength. I would not die by this entity's hand. Determination fueled my every move. I felled Ifrit, Titan, Rhitahtyn sas Arvina. I've all but mastered the dark art passed down by the Black Mages of old. Before the sun rose upon Mor Dohna, Lahabrea would be banished from Thancred, with Rhalgr as my witness.
Yet even with all my power it seemed I was outmatched. I grew weaker whilst my most powerful spells hardly appeared to even scathe him. Dread flooded my core when he summoned four arcane spheres from which to draw power. I could do naught to stop them. I wasn't strong enough. His power increased tenfold and he cast a spell with such power... I've never felt more pain in my twenty four years upon this star. I felt my life slipping from me, and as I fell and the darkness claimed my vision I thought for certain I had met my end. I had failed Eorzea, failed the Scions, failed Thancred.
And then there was that light. She who has guided me since my arrival in Ul'dah. Guided me much longer than I'm presently conscious of, I daresay. The blackness grew brighter and brighter. It felt as though a fire had been set in my very bones and I snapped back to consciousness with a sharp breath. Though my every muscle still ached and begged me to give in and fall once more, I did not. I could not. The gift of a second chance shone brightly around me and I would not forsake it. I looked Lahabrea in his stolen eyes, my breath burning my lungs, and I made my decision then and there. It mattered not if I fell, if Eorzea lost he who they would call their Warrior of Light... all that mattered to me was to see Thancred freed. And so I thought: The realm be damned, I will save you even if it kills me.
I hardly recognize the man I was in those moments. I know not whether Lahabrea grew weaker or if I grew stronger but finally my magic began to have an effect upon him. I couldn't tell you how long I fought, I ran purely on instinct and adrenaline. I would die if I must, but not until I saw Thancred safe. I dug into my deepest depths to summon every onze of power I possessed thanks to the guidance of Kazagg, Dozol, and Da Za. It felt as though both seconds and eternity had passed before this encounter came to its inevitable end. I called upon Flare one last time, and with that final blow, the dark crystal around Thancred's neck shattered. I watched the form of Lahabrea separate from him before vanishing into the darkness.
Ignoring the trembling that overtook me, I rushed to Thancred's side, falling to my knees. The possibility that in banishing the Ascian I had harmed or killed him suddenly formed a pit in my stomach. I felt like I couldn't breathe as I searched for his pulse. Though very weak, it was there. I pressed my forehead to his, letting his presence calm my nerves before rising again. Although the battles were won, I could not see a path of escape from the destruction Ultima had wrought upon the Garlean outpost. My chest grew heavy with this reality. Perhaps this was it. I could save his soul but not his life. And despite all the power that I possess it seemed I would go down with the foes I felled after all. Sure, I could manage a solution on my own, but none of my options would work unless I chose to leave Thancred behind... and this, I could not do. I would not.
The Twelve must have heard my struggle and sent in their aid. Just as I were about to give in to our fate, that wonderful machine whom I'd believed fought her last battle some time ago came charging back to us through the fire: Maggie, Wedge's magitek creation. A final spark ignited in me the will to keep going. I ran to Thancred, using what little strength I had left to haul his body onto the back of Maggie before piloting the suit of armor as fast as I could through the only path left available to me just as it went up in flames. We outran the explosions, this truly being the very last chance of escape. Upon finally finding the rendezvous with the rest of the Scions my heart swelled with relief. We'd done it. I'd done it. Thancred was safe, we all were for the time being.

everyone else shipping their WoL with popular important NPCs and here I am with my shortlist of Rhitahtyn sas Arvina, Martyn the Blue Mage trainer, and now Anden the Leafman Shepherd. Honorable mentions to Wilred and M’zhet Tia; my type seems to be earnest but pathetic himbos. At least there’s also Ardbert for a semi-main character.

the most difficult trial 1/?
Tumblr media
Rubbernecking the Seventh Umbral Calamity is not particularly good for one's ability to write reports or go to sleep. Gaius van Baelsar finds this out the hard way, though at least he can spend some time talking to Rhitahtyn to distract himself from all the feelings he's having. Unfortunately, this brings an entirely different set of feelings to the forefront…

When Cress managed to lead the group to where Ernastral was, they arrived just in time to watch as she cut down what looked like an Ishgardian clergywoman. She dissipated into mist as she fell, like some sort of conjured shade.
"What in the hells?" Lyse exclaimed.
Erna stiffened and glanced over her shoulder, eyes wide. "Wh... What're y'all doing here?!"
"We could ask you the same thing," Lenar said. Sapphire approached Sidurgu, sniffing him and analyzing his injuries. Lenar swiftly turned his attention to the injured knight, working his own healing on the man.
"You ran off without telling anyone," Lyse said. "And from what we could gather about where you'd gone... We were worried something might happen to you."
Before anyone had a chance to say anything more, Gohnoh'a and Cress's attention was drawn to the young elezen. Erna followed their gaze and watched as Myste conjured three more shades from the dark, swirling mists.
Three very, very familiar shades.
Ilberd of the Dull Blade, in his getup as captain of the Crystal Braves. Livia sas Junius, sister to Lucia, devoted follower of Gaius, and the woman responsible for the massacre at the Waking Sands so long ago. And Rhitahtyn sas Arvina, praefectus castrorum of the XIVth Imperial Legion... and the first person Ernastral intentionally killed.
"Wh-What...?" Lyse shook her head. She, Cress, and Gohnoh'a rushed to Ernastral's side and drew their weapons. "You know what, questions later. I don't know how or why these three are suddenly here, but it doesn't matter. We'll make sure they go back to whatever hells they crawled out of, right?"
Cress and Gohnoh'a nodded in agreement. Lenar turned his attention away from Sidurgu and moved to join the others. Five against three. This shouldn't be too hard, right?
They fought the same way they did in life. Each one on their own had pushed Erna and her companions to their limits. Two of them she had faced when it was only her, Lenar, and Cress. They still remembered Livia and Rhitahtyn's tricks even after all this time.
Gohnoh'a however, hadn't been there. He didn't know what to expect... and unfortunately the shades were smart enough to capitalize on this. Not helping matters was the fact that he didn't use a good number of the powers available to him.
Perhaps he never actually had a mentor to show him the way. I suppose we can't all make our own, now, can we?
"Woe betide the man who stands opposed to the Weapon of Light, for death will be his reward," Myste said, holding his hands to his chest. Lenar paused, looking momentarily confused. "Death for him and his kin and all that he holds dear."
It was Livia who ended up getting the better of Gohnoh'a, catching him from behind and booting him halfway across the makeshift arena. Lyse leapt to his rescue, intercepting the shade and buying him time to get to his feet and avoid Rhitahtyn's follow-up.
"Woe betide the man who stands with the Weapon of Light, for death will be his reward. Death for him and his kin and all that he holds dear."
I can end this charade, godsdamnit, I can end it!
Lyse and Gohnoh'a both frowned. "I don't know what you're going on about, but I don't like the sound of it."
"Weapon of Light?" Gohnoh'a muttered.
"Like sands through the hourglass, everything we fight so desperately to protect slips through our fingers... and what remains... what remains... Is us. Only us, and the memory of our sin."
Erna gripped her blade a little tighter, lowering her head ever so slightly so the brim of her hat blocked her view.
Now is the time!
"To walk this path is to suffer. To sacrifice."
You need me! YOU NEED ME!
Erna shut her eyes and let out a quiet sigh.
...Listen to my voice. Listen to our heartbeat.
"...To risk everyone and everythin' I hold dear in the name of protectin' them all. To risk myself. I can't save everyone, I know. But by the gods will I try."
...So it goes.
From seemingly nowhere, streaks of fire and ice and wind rushed out and hit each of the shades, destroying them in an instant. Myste flinched, looking on in disbelief as they dissolved into nothing.
"Serve... Save... Slave... Slay." All eyes turned to this new arrival, marching up beside Ernastral clad in dark armor, a familiar black mist clinging to her as she moved. "I've got sins aplenty, yeah, but regrets? Not so much."
Jaws dropped as they all stared in incomprehension. The figure was hard to make out, covered from head to toe in armor as it was, but the voice, the stride, the mannerisms, even the accent were unmistakable.
"And if she wouldn't listen to me, the embodiment of good sense and pragmatism, then what hope could you possibly have?" The figure stopped next to Erna, resting her hands on her hips as she regarded the child across from her.
"...Do my ears deceive me," Lenar said, "or are there somehow three of Ernastral present?"
Sidurgu shot him a look. "Are you blind?!"
"I am, in fact," Lenar replied, without skipping a beat. "As such, I am forced to rely on senses other than sight to recognize others. And there is no voice I would recognize more clearly than the voice of one of my dearest friends."
Lyse glanced from Erna and her armored doppelganger to the child across from them. "I can maybe understand why you'd think the one who just showed up sounds the same, but... the other's a child, how could you possibly...?"
"Appearances can be deceivin'," the newcomer said. "It's easy to dismiss any vocal similarities when the faces look different." The newcomer glanced towards Sidurgu. "Though I'm still a bit flummoxed as to why your first thought was a thievin' little boy. My voice ain't that deep, is it?"
Sidurgu's eyes went wide as he looked between Ernastral and the child. A few curious glances were cast in his direction as well. Eventually, Sidurgu shook his head.
"What in the seven hells is going on?" He shot the doppelganger a wary look. "Who—or what—are you?"
She had to consider that question for a moment, glancing down at her new form. "A compromise, I guess?"
"A compromise?" Lenar repeated.
"Our dear friend here refused to let me take the reins, but I wasn't about to stand idly by while that little dumbass tries to do..." She waved her hand vaguely. "Whatever it was she was tryin' to do."
Fray turned to Ernastral. "No hard feelings about Whitebrim, eh? Promise not to stab you in the back. It'll be just like old times."
"I feel like we've missed a few important details," Lyse remarked.
"We can catch up on them later," Lenar said. "Right now, we've a wayward 'child' to discipline, if I'm not mistaken."
"That we do," Fray said.
Tumblr media
There was a thunk as Sidurgu's sword landed at Fray's feet. Fray glanced over her shoulder towards Sidurgu, who had managed to get to his feet despite his injuries.
"A dark knight needs a sword," he said. "Take mine."
Her helmet obscured her features, but from the way her eyes crinkled it was clear she was smiling.
Myste shook her head, reaching up and grabbing her temples. "No... No... This is wrong... This is all wrong..." She grit her teeth, body trembling. "I offer you peace! Restitution! A chance to make amends! Do not think you are above it! Do not think that a reckoning will be postponed indefinitely!"
The dark mist returned, swarming around Myste's feet. More shades were conjured from the darkness, this time taking the form of the Warriors of Darkness and the Heavens' Ward. Gohnoh'a's ears flicked back, his tail twitching in irritation behind him at the familiar sight of Blaenherz and Lamimi.
Fray reached for the blade at her feet, surveying the opponents before her. She shut her eyes for a moment.
"When it comes, I shall welcome it with open arms." She opened her eyes and fixed her gaze on Myste. "But today is not that day, and you ain't the judge!"
Ernastral smiled, and Fray drew the sword.
