hello rise fandom, long time no see! the release of canon future donnie finally awoke me from my slumber. i just had to draw these silly matching turtles :) they really said ‘what if it was leo’s outfit but kinda ugly?’. honestly the most canon-accurate decision they could have made lmao
i haven’t drawn them in a while so they look a little crispy… although that kinda matches the disheleved apocalypse chic they’ve got going on
I, as a middle child of 3(an odd number), know my place in the family. I am the middle child, there is no other middle child. Donnie and Leo have this problem of them both being middle children and neither of them know their ages. The roles of "younger middle sibling" and "older middle sibling" are completely different yet since they don't know which they are they both fill these role. This creates confusion and tension as neither of them are able to understand what their place truly is and the competition between the both of them makes them both aware of how lacking they are in aspects that the other has. For example, self-confidence. Leo is chock-full of self-confidence, or at least he pretends to be, and Donnie on the other hand isn't he's so lacking in confidence in himself that he believes the team would be better off without him. And on Leo's side we have trust. Donnie is trusted by all his brothers because of how honest he is about his emotions and Leo is trusted by none because even he hides his own emotions. Them both being insecure because of their brotherly competitions and because of their lack of awareness of their place in the family makes them both feel as if they aren't wanted in the family and as if the family would be better off without them.
Not pictured here is that, immedietly after finishing the movie, the two start arguing again because Leo still insists that Sails The Seven Galaxies is the best JJ movie which Donnie will not stand for.
But this moment is what really starts the path of the Leo and Donnie growing closer. There's still a long way to go of course, they're still firmly on opposite sides. But their hangout sessions at Run of the Mill doesn't really have anything to do with the conflict, right? They've already accepted that they can't fight in the restaurant so it doesn't hurt to just have a bit of a frienemy banter instead, right? It's not like they actually care about each other, right???
Listen, there's a clear difference between their dynamic when it's in the premises of Run of the Mill and when it's out on the field during missions and they have NO problem seperating the two! Nonewhatsoever!
idk if this relatable to anyone else, but i don’t really talk about my special interests to anyone irl. like the thought of anyone finding out, especially close friends and family, that i like rise as much as i do makes me want to die a little bit on the inside. of course it wouldn’t be a big deal but still… does anyone know what i’m talking about or am i just being silly…?
i haven’t watched Bluey so idk much about it other than it has dogs so i just made leo like it for the same reasons i like rise (family shenanigans)
