usami definitely takes the cake. i was losing my mind over it for two weeks straight and my brain chemistry has been reprogrammed thrice with each edition of that chapter - korean leaks, japanese release, english translation. i'd just open THAT page and stare at it. i seriously think noda peaked with that chapter... i don't think he could pull anything more impactful. like it felt so organic, you know? there's a million ways to do something for shock value. but that particular scene, while definitely being a very wtf moment, was like 'yeah of course he'd do that'

other than that i really liked kikuta's death actually, or rather than the death itself the page of tsurumi shooting him really took me by surprise. i'll always be salty that the noseless freak stole my kitten's first relevant on-screen kill. the way sugimoto went absolutely all-out with jack in the volume version was cool, i'm always in for a bit of strangling some dude with his own intestines and then having another dude curbstomp his head. anehata.... was awful, so awful, but also SO funny. waaay back in the beginning that one dude being mauled by a bear with his skull showing was awesome. nikaido's death was also very cool. the way henmi was thrown around by a whale like a dish rag was hysterical. wilk's death and the whole drama behind it was cool and made me gasp. yuusaku's death was chef's kiss too. that one old dude who hallucinated hijikata as a stag had a beautiful death too.
