24 - do your references include stock images?
sometimes! but i use reference as a loose term, mostly i look at it for a pose, decide i dont like the pose, then ship of theseus it into a whole dif pose by editing it so much. my character references are official art sometimes but more commonly i look at how other artists depict them for inspo
27 - do you warm up before getting to the good stuff
nah not rlly. ill doodle for a bit but then i get distracted and the doodle becomes what im working on and i dont get to the actual bit bc i draw so slow (mouse moment)
29 (double answer wombo combo) - media you love but doesn't inspire you artistically
i love the binding of isaac (the game not the actual bible story). i love that it doesnt flinch or soften its blows and i love that there is no good ending. characters stuck in a cycle of torment by their own hands my beloved
plus it checks all my boxes for things i love in games (blood/gore and heavy religious themes)
but despite all that i dont really have the urge to draw or create anything for it. it's its own enclosed loop and i feel like theee just isnt anything about it that makes me want to go all creativity about it. its a good story without room for anything i could make without diluting its impact

i need to draw dogma today that fight messes me up
the symbolism of dogma,,, that entire fight is a dying child trying to kill the very thing that he believes took his mother from him, took his FAMILY from him
like yea addiction and depression was there in his family before, but isaac is like, what five? he’s just piecing together the point where his mom changed and that made his dad leave
even thematically it’s so rounded, the first words you hear when you boot up the game is how he spent his time drawing and playing while his mom watched christian broadcasts, dogma being the personification of those
whether he’s killing dogma as an effort to save her in his head, or he’s clearing himself of the religious guilt he felt for so long after being told he’s evil, i just ,,,,,
