I know Lucy Gray is supposed to represent the Songbird while Snow is the Snake, but i actually think she relates more with the snakes (because of her whole deal with snakes and her dress represents the rainbow snakes of the Capitol) and Snow relates more with the bird (because of what happened with the Jabberjay and the Mockingjays at the end). But what do you think?

You know what's really ironic when it comes to Coriolanus Snow? It's the fact that according to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, he garners attention and approval and finally mentorship under Dr. Gaul by pushing the idea of balancing humanity and spectacle in the hunger games. Make the tributes human enough to get attention and get people invested in the games. But make them spectacle enough that people don't look deep enough to question the games themselves. Make the competition human enough that people will pick sides and pour money. But make it spectacle enough that they don't protest their side losing.
It's the idea that paves his rise to power. But it's also the same thing that brings about his downfall. The spectacle of the hunger games gave a front and center platform to a naive but defiant girl from District Twelve to become the face of a revolution and the ultimate weapon against him. The measured humanity that he urged into the games got people to trust her word, trust her very image in ways that Snow had never anticipated. The balanced wielding of humanity and spectacle that Lucy Gray used to win her games is what Katniss used to end them, both enabled by Snow.
And here's the final kicker- the reason his brutally brilliant plan failed him in the end was because of the one thing Snow never took seriously enough to consider. The Districts. Snow had keen insight into how the people of the Capitol worked and thought. It allowed him to manipulate many of them. But he dismissed the role of the districts as inconsequential in the larger play of things. As long as they were kept suppressed, it didn't matter. And that's where his oversight cost him. He didn't consider the effects of the same humanity and spectacle when perceived by the districts. He didn't see how he was giving them the spark they were always looking for until the match had already been lit. The girl was already on fire. The Capitol was already burning. The snow was already melting.

“You’ve no right to starve people, to punish them for no reason. No right to take away their life and freedom. Those are things everyone is born with, and they’re not yours for the taking. Winning a war doesn’t give you that right. Having more weapons doesn’t give you that right. Being from the Capitol doesn’t give you that right. Nothing does.”
— Suzanne Collins, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Panem is an increasingly gruesome place.
Districts offer "tributes" (more like sacrifices) to the Capitol to feed off of them.
And the Capitol people are ROOTING for their favorite "tribute" to win by killing 23 others.
But that's not even the most disgusting part.
Capitol people see the District Tributes like animals. Especially in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. In the beginning of the movie, the tributes are shipped in truck, like zoo animals being deported from their habitat.
Then they're dumped into a zoo.
In Katniss and Peeta's era, they're at least treated nicely. Though they're still going for the same bloody battle, they're treated like human.
They're prettied up (for battle, I guess, but still) and look beautifulㅡ though a corpse with make-up is still a corpse.
In the zoo in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, they're just... dumped in that old zoo, a mess of a place, with nothing. No food, no clothes, nothing.
I imagine there was a shortage of food that time, so they didn't have enough to spare from the Capitol, but stillㅡ they're starved in there and I'm still wondering how they didn't all kill each other in that zoo.
Capitol citizens ogled at them like they were exotic animals, pointing and laughing and gibing about their appearance.
Even animals are treated better than that.
They're at least fed and given a better environment, no?
And when that one tribute killed Corio's acquaintance (I think her name was Arachne), they all screamed and fled and a Peacekeeper shot her without any hesitation.
Watching Arachne egg that girl on with the bottle of pop, it was like watching a foolish child get on a lion's nerves with meat.
When animal's attack zookeepers, they do restrain the animal, but they don't shoot it down right awayㅡ and if they did, the public would be in uproar.
