LAST POST I PROMISE THIS TIME but i'm watching some zelda youtubers describe how they just don't feel the passion to create anything for totk and that's so sad to me. and it so clearly shows how botw was still being talked about right up until to totk's release 6 years later but totk topics dried up after a few months. not liking a game is one thing but having it outright kill your enjoyment of something and passion to create is horrible. the devs clearly didn't care about keeping discussions alive so why should the fanbase? literally one of the worst things you can do to your franchise.

#bwark #sometime last year (can't remember if it was before or after totk's release? but around the april/may/june window) emery and i were having a #discussion comparing how they grew up with kirby and i grew up with zelda and discussing similar experiences despite the stark differences #between both franchises and i remember him saying that zelda having its own timeline and lore like kirby does was cool #but that point just feels so.....dire now #the devs didn't even care about making totk consistent with botw nevermind all of the older games #and i'm not even someone who cares that much about the timeline. i try to enjoy each game individually (with sequels being the exception #because obviously you can't have a sequel without a prequel)#and if a game does build on an older one in a more subtle way i'm all for it! like i've never gotten why people say that tp ''copies'' oot #when really it expands upon it. oot link is literally his own character in tp independent from tp link #i think ive lost my original post. autism levels are catastrophic rn #oh yeah kirby. i'm still worming my way into getting into kirby (really liked the rtdl remake) but i hope things are doing better over there

😔 my honest answer is a solid Maybe. i remember echoes came out of nowhere at the time, and it was later revealed in developer interviews that it was conceived of as like an "in between" project for the staff to release while their next big-budget title was in development (three houses); so it's possible they could take the same approach to an fe4 remake. and I think it's possible sigurd being played up in engage and feh in recent years is building up to it, but I think it's equally possible the fe fanbase is just desperate ghdgfhj

my main concern is like... fe4 is a game that would unequivocally benefit from being remade with a loving hand, it's an ambitious title that would thrive on newer hardware with prettier graphics (as much as I love the mold-crusted fe4 sprites). I would kill to see seliph's story fully fleshed out with the care and nuance of a writing team that understands him beyond "something something softboy... something something uncritical filial piety". but it's very much up in the air how faithful to or even understanding of fe4's themes a prospective remake with FE's current writing staff would be, if that makes sense

tl;dr im cautiously optimistic 🤭 if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen, the original fe4's still fun, ripe for analysis and easy to emulate. if it happens and the remake is Bad I trust in our collective ability as a fanbase to gaslight ourselves into believing it was good the whole time o7
