Katherine Oswald stared at the ground as she walked towards the potions classroom. As she got closer to the classroom, there was a crowd of students running and pushing against her. Katherine wondered what was the big deal, what was so important?
“What is going on?” She finally asked one of the sixth year boys next to her.
He looked at her, “Slughorn posted the list for the new Slug Club members.”
Katherine’s eyes widen. In the beginning of the year, she was failing potions due to her recent breakup with Severus Snape and that he wasn’t helping her study or understanding it. Luckily, Slughorn noticed her downfall of her grade and brought on a person to help.
Remus Lupin, a Gryffindor. Now, Katherine didn’t hate him just because he belong to the enemy house. She would only hate him if he hated her for that reason and she didn’t. He didn’t let the stereotypes influence of how he felt about her. The two liked each other’s company. Besides teaching her potions, Remus would discuss with Katherine about how his life was going.
Katherine didn’t mind if she didn’t get in or not. She was succeeding the class. Slughorn even told her that she was doing better than she was with Severus.
People finally moved away from the wall for Katherine to finally see the list. She walked forward, closer. There, under Riley Nathaniel’s name, was Katherine Oswald. She was there, on the list. Slughorn selected her. She scanned the list for anyone else she knew. Lily Evans was the only name she recognized.
Katherine covered her mouth with her hands in shock. She turned around to see other students staring at her. One of them was Severus Snape. She smirked at him as he stepped forward and looked at the list.
“Remember when I said that kissing you is the best feeling?”
He looked at her while she responded, “I take it back. This is the best feeling!”
Catherine left him in the dust, walking away from the boy who thought she wasn’t smart enough for her. In her path, there was Remus Lupin. She smiled at him and he replied with a gleam.
In excitement, she ran towards him, shouting his name and hugged him. She held him tight. His hands wrapped over her body. After a moment, they escaped the hug.
“You got in,” was the first thing he said to her.
Katherine replied, “I couldn’t have gotten in without you.”
“You were a good student,” Remus said.
“How about we celebrate with a butter beer?” Katherine suggested.
Remus chuckled, “Like a date?”
Katherine smiled as she grabbed his hand, “Yes, exactly like a date.”
