Hi there! I just wanted to say, I LOVE your art! Especially the tone you create with your artwork. It tells a neat story, which is why I wanted to ask...
!!SPOILERS AHEAD FOR KEEPER OF THE SILENT GROVE!!
I played through your recent gane, Keeper of the Silent Grove, and um... Im a little confused. I got that there was a plague, and youre sending plants, and... a church, and this other dude, and 7 spirits, but I never really filled in the whole picture? For instance, why was the protagonist's body seen dead(?) On an altar? When I gave to plant to one of them, it felt like an abrupt ending, one I didnt entirely comprehend, and I was wondering if you could explain a little more of the story behind it? It really does look like a beautiful game.
WOW thank you so much for playing the game and for writing to me. I thought a lot about how to answer this without giving too much away!
(MORE SPOILERS for my game haha so be aware anyone who wants to play it first - it’s free to play and not long, so go check it out if you wanna!)
The dreams (and game honestly) are obviously very metaphorical and open to your own interpretation - Are you truly trapped in the house forever? How much responsibility do you actually have to people who you have never met and will never meet? How much agency do you even have in a situation like that? Are the spirits even conscious or are they more like animals? Are they behind the plague? Do they know they’re behind the plague, if they are? What does sacrifice mean in a situation like the protagonist is in, when everyone is asking them for things but their situation is what it is? I actually don’t have answers for these questions - these are just thoughts to get you started! I have my own “intention” behind the game but I’m really okay with anyone’s interpretation of the events. I’m more interested in evoking feelings and ideas and making more of a “messy” game than I am with something super coherent and having a perfect plot.
As for the ending feeling sort of abrupt and sad, I will say there are three endings - 2 obvious endings and one true ending (ALSO that I am not good at endings or coding lol). The true ending is easy to get but not at all obvious. Here is a hint if you ever feel like replaying:
(spoilers obviously)
The panacea IS a plant just like any other plant. The spirits are asking you to return the panacea to the house. How would you return the panacea to the house?
(more spoilers in case this isn’t obvious enough)
Maybe you can ................. sacrifice the panacea........... to the house

i'm not sure if you've said this before, but what pixel art app do you use?? i love your art !!
that’s so kind of you, I super appreciate that! messages like this really make my week haha. I use Procreate primarily and also sometimes Pixaki (very photoshop like) or Pixquare (very aesprite like), all on my ipad. I have wrist tendonitis so I can’t draw pixels with a mouse. I don’t actually think procreate is very good for pixel art at all though, so maybe this isn’t a very helpful reply! it’s on my to-do list to find something better but that still has the “painterly” features that procreate has.
