i think part of the “craving attention” is him desperately wishing someone would save him from cazador
hmmm let me make it clear, since i HAVE said some things in the past i dont agree with anymore (nothing brought this up btw just me brain)
THESE ARE ALL MY OWN OPINIONS !!!! NOT CANON OR FACT OR CONFIRMED TRUTHS
i dont think astarion is inherently evil. i said this before i really delved into the game and its options myself but now i think hes. just my lil bug. like he literally had his empathy tortured out of him lol
i think astarion falls in love well before act iii, at least halfway into act ii. i think he feels a Lot of New feelings he doesnt know how to categorize and so it takes him a hot minute to realize. he literally says that his partner is the one who made him learn how to love again. also he craves attention but now he’s receiving a type of attention that is much more genuine and not something hes had
i think astarion is kinder than most think. however, if being cruel/lying is funnier, he’s gotta commit to the bit.
i think aa feels empty, but he still holds some sort of affection for his beloved. but i think it becomes a relationship based on a power dynamic that i think emphasizes his deepest fears
